Personality
Undoubtedly that personality is the most important factor of individual differences of a human being. And as personality has a major role in all situations of human life, it also has a significant impact on learning in general and learning other languages in particular. Some dictionaries define personality as the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual's distinctive character while others refer to personality as the set of habitual behaviors, cognitions and emotional patterns that evolve from biological and environmental factors that differ from one person to another. As suggested by many researchers and linguists, inhibition impedes risk-taking which is necessary for improvement in language learning. Brown and 吳一安 (2000) asserted that observations and research proved that mature adults manifest a number of inhibitions and that these inhibitions surface in modern language classes where the learner's attempts to speak in the foreign language are often fraught with embarrassment.
Another aspect of personality that has been extensively investigated is anxiety__ feelings of worry, nervousness that many endure when learning a second language. Brown and 吳一安 (2000) mentioned three components of foreign language anxiety as being identified by (Horwitz, Horwitz. & Cope, 1986; Maclnryre & Gardner, 1989,1991c) in order to break down the construct into researchable issues:

1. Communication apprehension, arising from learners' inability to adequately express mature thoughts and ideas
2. Fear of negative social evaluation, arising from a learner's need to make a positive social impression on others

In the field of learning the term 'intelligence' refers to an individual's achievement on particular kinds of tests. The relationship between intelligence and second language learning has been studied by many researchers. As some studies report, it has been believed that learners with a high Intelligent quotient (IQ) are more successful than those with low IQ. However, IQ tests might not be highly related to communicative ability as much as their relation to metalinguistic knowledge. For instance, Genesee (1976) in his study with students enrolled in regular French-as-a-second language courses and in French immersion courses where French is used as a medium F. Genesee found that performance on the tests of listening comprehension and interpersonal communication skills did not correlate with IQ
