He knew without pleasure what the gunshots meant. Though he hadn’t known Howie more than a couple of days, he had become predictable. The lunacy of the disconnected. He pushed the tarp from his head and realized it was still daylight, with the sun backing decisively into evening. Uncomfortably covered with two days of sweat and grime he headed astern without thinking about it. Slowly, getting his legs under him, he moved in favor of the aches in his body. He hoped that everything would take care of itself by the time he got there. When he got to the aft quarterdeck he found Gomez sitting where he’d slept. Their eyes met and Bobby saw without speaking that Gomez didn’t want to...

...Abstract Five Guys’ has evolved from a small family eatery, to one of the largest restaurant chains in America. They haven’t utilized any major marketing methods, but have accomplished this simply by understanding what their customer’s want, and how to consistently provide it. Five Guys’ was founded in 1986 with its original restaurant located in Arlington, Virginia, and quickly became a Washington, D.C. area treasure. It was Jerry and Janie Murrell who presented their four sons with two options, start a business or go to college. The Murrell brothers chose the latter opening their first restaurant location with their parents’ supervision. The family operated five restaurants by the year 2001 and began to offer franchise opportunities in 2002. Now, 26 years later, there are in excess of 1000 Five Guys’ locations throughout the nation, with plans for 1500 locations in development. This paper examines what differentiates Five Guys’’ from other restaurant chains. The literature notes the factors that contributed to Five Guys’’ success and rapid growth. How Does Five Guys’ Philosophy Set It Apart? As stated on the company’s website “We follow the philosophy of focusing on a few items, and serving them to the best of our abilities,” this is what sets Five Guys’’ apart from other fast food chains. Unlike their competitors, such as Burger King and McDonalds, Five Guys’ has a specific goal, which is to serve the highest quality hamburgers and fries achievable. Their...

...ONE FOR ALL TO READ A Guy who has no job got married to a banker, despite his fears and several advices that it's not good to marry without a job. Every month the girl would give the guy her full salary of $1500 after removing her tithe. The guy would give the wife $300 for personal upkeep and the guy determined what happened to the remaining money. This happened for three good years. There was happiness in the family and the wife never refused to do her primary home duties for that 3 years, despite wrong advice from friends that 'you can't be paying the bills and still be doing all the work'. There was a particular month the guy used about $600 to travel from region to region for different interviews. He finally got a job with a good firm. His salary was $6000 monthly for a start. He bought his first car (a brand new) for $27,000; he gave d wife the car key, and continued to take public transport to work for about two years. Then he bought the second car for $48,000. Then he took the keys of the first car and gave his wife the keys of the second car. They were very happy. They eventually moved into their own house after few years. One day, the wife was looking for some documents. Then she stumbled on a file neatly hidden, when she opened it, she saw her wedding picture when she was very slim in the first page of the file. She then saw that the document to the purchase of the land and every other thing in the house were all written in her name! At the last page was the husband's...

...date where the advice is given about making a good first impression. First impressions are important especially in cases of job interviews, meeting family members of significant others, and romantic settings where you meet that special person for the first time. Sadly enough for most females, they base their romantic interactions on these first impressions which usual cause heartache. Women are usually more emotional invested in a relationship or romantic encounter than guys are. Therefore, guys whom are “players” develop their “game” around this to provide more of an assurance of them getting laid. It is compelling to make that first impression when meeting someone new. For players, they strive to create that image of “the good guy”. Upon that first meeting, impression formation is developed from the physical attributes and features as well as the beginning actions. Individuals are judged by that first impression on what part of society they belong to. When evaluating guys, the social groups that are examined are; the good guy, the dog/player, the needy/too attached, and the emotionally unavailable to name a few. The stereotypes of these groups comes into play therefore, impression management is part of the play book for players. The “ideal guy”, the good guy most females want and talk to their friends about, must be projected to leave that lasting good impression. When it comes to romantic interactions, make a good first impression, but don’t base things off that...

...DFS Welcome back! I assume if you are reading this you are either a) shocked that there is actually a second article this week b) pleasantly surprised at how my picks last week performed (I know I am) or c) both a and b. While sadly I didn’t take down the big prize in last week’s Milly Maker Tournament on Draft Kings I hope maybe one of you out there did. If no one won I hope you at least placed and made some money anyways because in the end as long as your turning a profit that’s all that matters. Fear not, because DK has announced that they will be doing a Milly Maker every single week this season! That means you and I have a crack at that big prize once a week for the next 16 so we better make those chances count. Once again I would like to put clearly so that no one could possibly notice. EVERYTHING FROM HERE ON OUT IS IN REFERENCE TO DRAFT KINGS AND NOT ANY OTHER DAILY FANTASY SITE. While these plays might still be good on other sites I have no idea what the pricing or scoring structures are so they very well might not be. And once more just in case you are either new to this article or forgot from last week. I’m in no way giving you the winning LU for this weekend’s tournaments because if I knew it I sure as hell wouldn’t be sharing it with the rest of the internet. I also do not need to tell you that guys like Antonio Brown and Matt Forte are always in play regardless of their matchup. If these are things you wouldn’t consider “no brainers” then I’m very sorry to say that...

...Price beat guarantee, trick or treat? Last year I wanted to travel to Cairns, and I found a new way to save money by using a price beat guarantee offered by Jetstar through word of mouth. Through further research I gradually found, no other airlines are using this method of marketing, where as in other industries there are a lot of companies using this method to attract customers attention. For example, Dan Muphy, Officeworks, hotels.com, Harvey Norman, and so on. What is price beat guarantee? I think most of you guys have heard of it. Guaranteed beat guarantee refers to, I believe, businesses who say they will allow consumer to purchase the same product at a same or lower price which a consumer can proof that a competitor is offering the same product at a lower price. With so much competition and evolving marketing strategy for buying goods and services, therefore price has become a more common differentiator than it was in the past. It is an anti-competitive tactic that avoid competitors attempt to steal market share by undercutting prices. And firms use this strategy as a method of building customer loyalty. So here I post one of my experience about price beat guarantee. Last year I walk into the good guys where their advertising and marketing make you believe that you will always get the cheapest price from their shops, but what I didn’t know was only possible with a with a lot of strict conditions and terms. So it is here that I found one sales assistant who I...

...allusions shows their function of adding subtle depth to the ideas of the novel. Fahrenheit 451 is set five centuries from now in an anti-intellectual world where firemen serve the reverse role of setting fires, in this case to books that people have been illegally hoarding and reading. Literature is banned because it might potentially incite people to think or to question the status quo of happiness and freedom from worry through the elimination of controversy. "Intellectual" entertainment is provided by tapioca-bland television that broadcasts sentimental mush on all four walls. The novel, first written in a shorter version for a science-fiction magazine in 1950 and published as a novel three years later, concerns itself with one fireman, Guy Montag, who commits the heresy of questioning his role and seeks to learn why books are considered dangerous. If we take this imaginary world of the twenty-fourth century as a commentary of our contemporary society, we can interpret the novel on one level as the often-heard...

...years elder than me. Actually, I was not really interested in love before this. But, I do not know when I stepped into form five I felt I should have a boyfriend because all my friends had their own one. Besides that, having a boyfriend was a trend for teenagers like me. I am a girl from a middle class family. My father is a lorry driver. While my mother is a homemaker. I was the hope for my family since I was the eldest girl in my family. I just was a moderate student in my school. I did pretty well in my studies. The school compound was the place I met my boyfriend. But, he was not in the same school with me. I saw him outside of the school compound. He was a very good looking guy and I was melted over his sweet smile. My friends went crazy after him. I think it was because he was looking too hot like an actor. This guy used to wait outside of my school compound everyday during afternoon time. I did not know for whom...

...In the story my last duchess jealousy and unfaithfulness took a big role in these dramatic monologue because the duke found the person he thought was the right women for him but she was a little coquettish with the men of the village and that's how some guys lose their partners now in present time. Because any guy that walks up to any women in a relationship could get flirted with especially when they're in a horrible relationship with a man or a women that abuse there partners. Now in my last duchess the duke painted his mistress so he can remember how she looked and how much he loved her but she flirted with every guy that smiled at her or looked her way so the duke did the only thing that he knew was the right choice was to kill her and save his honor thats why love is something you don't take lightly to mess with because it could be formed to be good or...

...Tom Parker. Tom Parker was assigned a project to cut a claim post every 500 years. ...Have you ever wondered why guys only choose to date the girls that are either brainless, or have a completely fake personality? Well, I think that the answer remains questioned. Most guys go after the “hot blondes,” not really caring about their personality, and only their looks. I think that this issue causes three main problems. For one, it makes some girls feel insecure, or not “pretty” enough. Two, it gives girls a label on what they should and should not look like. And lastly, it tells girls that we need to reach a high expectation to be good enough. As we know, the world is not perfect. However, we also live in a very judgmental world. Today, girls are constantly judged on their facial features, they eye and hair color, their body, and more. When guys choose the girls with not only no brain, but a horrible personality, it shows what kind of guy that person really is. Not only is it a shallow act on the guy’s part, but it also offends the girls. When girls see that guys are not going to be interested unless you meet certain expectations, they tend to change their features to meet others expectations. Things such as dying hair and acting dumb are two things that girls do just to get guy’s attention, knowing that they will not even notice them unless they act that way. Because of all these horrendous acts, girls are influenced to change themselves to the way others would rather them look like. All throughout magazine’s, girls are shown what they should and should not...

...Business October 28, 2012 Professor Rhonda Evans Strayer University Describe how Five Guys’ philosophy sets it apart from other fast food chains. Five Guy’s philosophy sets apart from other fast food chains because of their ideal burgers. “Five Guys goal is to sell the best quality burgers possible. To sell the best burgers possible they focus on quality, service, and cleanliness”. (Elan, 2007) When a customer leaves Five Guys the aim is for them to really find the products and services irresistible. The high quality food does all the talking. Another way they differ from other food chains is they don’t invest a lot into advertising. York (2009) points out that Five Guys’ invest in an intensive secret shopper program where restaurant crew members can earn additional pay by getting high scores from secret shoppers. Also, a wide variety of topping choices for their burgers is offered. Welch (2010) explains how they “prepare their fries by soaking them in water so that when the fries are pre-fried, the water boils forcing steam out of the fry”. While visiting Five Guy’s Burgers and fries for the first time back in 2003, during a brief conversation with the friendly cashier, I was amazed to find out that they use coolers instead of freezers. The truth is, I had never heard of that being done before in a restaurant. Another thought that I have that makes Five Guys’ different from other food chains is the way they execute the processing of the orders. As...
