Why FAS 0210? Education is about respecting steps and going from stage to another stage. In the beginning you enter the primary school, then high school, and after finishing 6 years, you choose what you are going to do in your life and here begin the university life, and this is where I am right now. As long a. One of the courses I should take is FAS 0210 which is the strategic academic skills, and as I can find in the syllabus it introduces the basic learning and study skills required by students to succeed at university, and also to learn the proper way to study so I can succeed in others courses, but this is considered as a problem for me. Why should I take a course like this one after 12 years of studying? In my life I never repeated or failed a course because of a simple reason which is hard work. I used to do extra exercises, and understand the lesson very well so I can get high marks. Finally, I learned to be more responsible. When I was 10 years old, I used to be in a swimming team. Every Saturday and Sunday, I woke up at 6am and went to practice; but before going to the gym I made sure that I finished all my homework and revised my lessons. Moreover, I practiced martial arts three times a week, so I really had a busy schedule but I could manage everything even though I was still young. Also, I was too motivated to be a great swimmer as Michael Phelps after his amazing accomplishment in Beijing 2008. I was so dedicated to swimming at that time that I used to do extra practice. For all these reasons, I feel I do not need to be in a study skills course because I already have them. In my opinion, I think that this course should be in high school program, so that students know how they can succeed and learn in an efficient way, not in the university. In the college, most of the students have what it takes to become successful, which means they already have the

...De La Torre, Pamela Z. 2015 – 46044 BA Behavioral Sciences This should be one of the Last Posts by females on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter which recount their experiences of men catcalling or inappropriately touching them and news articles on women exposing how they were physically abused and/or raped by colleagues or even high-profile men circulate and can be seen on our timelines and news feeds almost every day. Amidst these haunting cases are comments made by both men and women on how it was the female’s fault why she got raped or harassed in the first place and other posts about how women should dress and act so as not to get harassed or seen as “asking for it”. You have men thinking that it’s okay to say “hi ganda” or “miss beautiful, pahingi naman ng number mo” to ladies passing by because they don’t really get condemned for it as much as the girl who was wearing a short skirt when it happened. Such thinking exists that it’s okay to catcall women but it’s not okay for females to wear shorts on a hot day. Our own culture tolerates and even encourages sexual harassment by joking about it (Expanding the Anti-Sexual Harassment Law, n.d.) and society normalizes sexual violence committed by men (What is Rape Culture?, n.d.). This is rape culture, and it exists and prevails in the Philippines. Emilie Buchwald, co-author of the book Transforming a Rape Culture, defines the culture of rape as “a complex set of beliefs that encourages male sexual aggression...

...The exchange rate fluctuations in India has been a topic of apprehension for the policy makers and common public. The exchange rate system in India, known as managed float, has evolved through a long process of probing for an suitable policy system for India. in view of the fact that exchange rates are relative prices of two currencies it is generally exaggerated by the relative productivity differential and real wage rates in the long-run. However, the bubbles arising out of assumption plays a major role in influencing the exchange rates in the short-run. The present state of affairs about the exchange rate fluctuations in India has been caused to a large extent by the worsening current account balance and the unfavorable expectations related with it. Although the LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders) are now accepted by the Philippine society, they have come a long way of struggle to gain their freedom and rights. Gays in particular, have been a great subject to social discrimination, taunts, ridicules and mockery. One of the ways the discriminated gays thought of was to come up with a code that only they will understand in order to hide from the prying eyes and ears of the society they move in. But because of the everyday and frequent use of the code in parlors, sidewalks, comedy bars and other places where gays frequently hang out. Since 1960’s where an evolution of the Filipino language sprouted called Taglish or Tagalog-English where one of its steady sources has been gay language, which has generated so many words and idioms that have been inserted in the mainstream of the everyday Taglish. As the gays started to be accepted by the society, the language grew gradually adding more and more terms from different sources. Gay language has also influenced the way the society converses and is empowering the gays more, giving them an identity and a trademark. As this language continues gradual evolution...

Xbcom/275 Final Debate Paper

...Granted a Last Meal One of the most controversial debates today is regarding the ability for death row inmates to order a last meal before execution. What sparked the debate most recently is when a man named Lawrence Russell Brewer, a death row inmate housed in a Texas prison, ordered a meat lovers pizza, two chicken fried steaks with gravy and fried onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, and jalapeños, a large bowl of fried okra and a side of ketchup, three fajitas, one pound of barbequed meat with a half of loaf of white bread, one triple patty cheeseburger, a pan of peanut butter fudge topped with crushed peanuts, three root beer drinks and one full pint of Blue Bell ice cream (Fernandez, Manny). After Lawrence Brewer ordered this huge feast, he did not even eat one bite. This extravagant meal was costly in many ways to taxpayers. Lawrence Brewer took his last opportunity to show the government, the victims, the family of the victims, and all people just how little he cared. Many people were disgusted by his arrogance and disdain, and others thought nothing, as though it were his right to order whatever his heart desired in the last hours before his death. The current debate runs deep. Normally a last meal requests are made approximately two weeks prior the scheduled execution. Why in the world would you treat a vicious murderer like a special celebrity two hours before they are to be executed? Conversely, why would you deny a person the comfort of having one last...

Art 101

...The Last Supper and The Book Of Genesis Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the most prominent men in history and was the creator of many new ideas. He created many works of art and invented many new technologies that would be considered extreme for the time period. One of the biggest works of art he completed was “The Last Supper”. This painting, done in fresco, plays a significant role in Christianity and depicts Jesus with his disciples. Along with “The Last Supper”, The Book of Genesis was produced to influence belief on a group of individuals. These works of art are cemented in history and can be connected to each other by their significant individual affects on human existence. “The Last Supper” and the creation story in The Book of Genesis are connected to one another by theology and both share themes such as creationism and humanism. To understand how these individual pieces of work are connected to each other, one must first breakdown why these works of art were created.
