LBST 2214 This article is about a woman name Nadya Suleman and at the age of 33, she gave birth to six boys and two girls. A lot of doctors are worried because they could be some major health problems for her. People are speculating if she can even provide for her kids. Fertilty doctors are saying that it is going against the mission of their work. Doctors were worried that the babies could die or be at high risk for brain injuries and other dangerous health conditions. Furthermore, Nadya Suleman is starting to make money off her octuplets and has hired publicists because of so much media attention.
One reproductive health policy is that the ASRM guidelines for vitro fertilization states no more than two embryos being transferred. A lot of doctors are concerned that more than two being transferred is dangerous as well as the mother and baby put at risk. The mother can be at risk for premature labor and delivery. The babies can come out with brain injuries, underdeveloped lungs and intestines.
The ethical issue is doctors need to have strict guidelines when it comes to vitro realization. Those doctors should not give this drug to someone that comes to their face and said they want eight more kids. For example, a person goes to see the doctor and says they want to have eleven kids. Also, it’s giving the vitro fertilization a bad name because it should be used for people that actually need it. I think that the policy should be changed before vitro fertilization is banned. One is to only give to people that cannot have kids and are trying too. Also, two embryos should only be allowed to be transferred and no more than that. Some doctors need to understand and not try to give so many embryos away. If the doctors cannot follow these rules then they should be
