Pygmalion Stereotype & Social Class Essay This play was written in order to challenge the social class system which is "Upper Class" "Middle Class" "Low Class", along with stereotypes and sexism. In this Era it was to be believed as the Victorian times, where the Rich were separated from the poor while they are there polar opposite, from money, clothing, lifestyle, the riches way of speech compared to the poor. The Rich speak more than one language, such as French, while the poor struggle to even manage the basic English language. The Poor Living conditions were overcrowded , low chance of education, along with the fact they didn't have a sewage or draining system. The Women of Poor class did household assignments instead of working for that was the man's duty, so they cleaned the house, take care of the children. Men held jobs that were unskilled and the children worked in mills and factories such as manufacturing.

"Pygmalion both delighted and scandalized its first audiences in 1914… It is… a barbed attack on the British class system and a statement of Shaw’s feminist views.” this is said in Act One of the play, where Clara says to her brother Freddy "It is too tiresome do you expect us to go and get on ourselves?" The quote said here shows that women back then waited in dry while men went out to fetch a cab for them to ride together in. It was until the mid 1900's that this action was expected from every men. young Eliza was treated exactly how the upper class treated the lower class, Freddy bumps poor Eliza down but he carries on with his day to hail a cab for his mother and his sister. it shows that the upper class knocks down the lower class, no pun intended they look at them as little stepping stones instead of human beings, since Eliza (18 or 19 years old) is a self employed flower girl Freddy cost

I do not care if only one person comes or 2,000 women come. I will give God the glory. Putting fear behind me to do what I was called to do is something I learned from this experiment. I have always felt that I could not be an asset to people because what I have done in my past. Forgiving myself and living a fearless life because God has forgiven me, is the motto I live by. This conference will be my coming out party. I am a new creature in Christ. My heart has been transformed thanks to God. I desire to tell my testimony to everyone who I encounter. Especially, to the women I meet. They do not have to relive their past over and over again. "O Me! O Life" Analysis

...Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring, Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill’d with the foolish, Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?) Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the struggle ever renew’d, Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me, Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined, The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here—that life exists and identity, That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse. Abstract Meaning In his poem “O Me, O Life,” Walt Whitman questions the futility of life. Whitman ponders on the rapid advancement of our world through economy’s eyes. Though he admits to the disappointment that can be felt through human achievement, he also conducts an argument through a powerful metaphor at the end of his poem recognizing the importance of human purpose, “Answer… That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.” Whitman argues that every person is contributing to human existence because they are living and breathing. He connects this idea to the rest of his poem by using a question and answer format. At the beginning of his poem he introduces his final argument, “Oh me! Oh life! of the questions of these recurring,/ Of the endless trains of the...

Give Me Back My Life

...Poem: Give me Back my life Day in and day out I go thru these emotions , But What are they really about? Do I have the strength to go on? Or will all my might they drain Leaving me in a rut in which I must remain Arrows pierce my heart ripping and tearing it apart Shred by shred Was it something I said? Or disillusioned notions in my head I can't stop the rain from falling I can't stop my loneliness For companionship It's calling I can't stop the pain From it what will I gain? As the hurricane of despair gusts thru my mind A decent thought I cannot find With all this rage how can I comprehend one thoughtfrom the other Or those in which I can make amend I rack my brain tossing thoughts here and there All the while wondering Contemplating How possibly can I get rid of the thorns in the fiber of my being It's embedded from days of old It's so unfair My flesh and bones , seemingly Can't get passed The past That caused such dysfunction From head to toe, a chilling sensation Something new I cannot name Can it I claim Where to direct it Some wrongs need to be corrected With my mouth words explode from within The healing process now begins My soul cries for help Amidst a raging storm of old Everything I see, hear, touch Brings a new reality Where is the real me Thru this process I pray the blinds are lifted No more misery , no more strife I declare Addiction Give me back my...

What Life Has Taught Me

...Ideas may be simple, but what makes simple idea a great one is interest. I believe that a person’s interest in any field makes him produce great ideas and achieve big. The technology I chose might be different to the typical smartphone and satellite theories but it has certainly made a huge impact and will continue to revolutionize the world. Solar energy is a natural renewable resource that is available in unlimited quantities and is a great source used for solar heating, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal energy, solar powered cars and calculators. Solar power is energy received directly from the sun, later converted into other forms of energy. It is perhaps the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy resource available. The simplest answer to the question, why I selected “solar energy” for my essay is that, it is the cheapest resource and the more important fact is that it will never terminate. It is currently being used to power solar cars, heaters and other important things but since it is a new invention, it will take some more time to influence the world. Inventors opened the mysteries of transforming the sun's beams into mechanical power more than a century ago. In 1767 a Swiss scientist named Horace-Benedict de Saussure created the first solar collector, it was an insulated cubical box, layered with glass to absorb heat energy. The box later became known as the solar oven producing heat at 230 degrees Fahrenheit. In 1839, another milestone in the solar journey was...

What Greek Life Truly Means to Me

...think about greek life I truly think about sisterhood. When I joined the Greek system as a transfer Junior from Baton Rouge, LA, I didn’t realize the kinds of connections and relationships it would open up for me. My name is Taylor Padgett and I am a Delta member of the Delta Sigma Chapter at the University of Mississippi. Starting this year off, joining a sorority was not even on my list of life accomplishments and never even crossed my mind especially at a school known for their prestigious greek life. Only knowing two people upon transferring here I was told that it would be a good idea to join and make friends, but in my mind I didn’t want to “pay for my friends”. A few months into the fall semester I was walking through the grove here on Campus when I saw thousands of girls all wearing blue and pink C.A.R.E walk shirts. Totally disregarded what was going on until I approached a short dark headed girl, Logan Sparks, under a big white tent to ask what was going on ,where she informed me about this new sorority called Alpha Delta Pi that was coming back to campus. I was so overwhelmed by everything that was going on around me I wasn’t able to take it all in. It wasn’t until a day or two later when I was walking to subway on the third floor of our student union when I was approached by another one of our awesome leadership consultants Jessica Johnson. In a calmer area, I was able to really take in what greek life actually was and what Alpha Delta Pi could do for me. It was at that...

About Me for My Whole Life and Wish ~ Good Job Man

...Gun is a weapon that can be used to reduce crime or violence, but can be used to perpetuate, violence and crime. It is true that guns do not do true shooting percentage: People do shoot. It is the person who owns the gun and injuries; we should be worried about intentions. The pride of a man with a gun, so that he or she can actually impose his or her will upon others. This aspect is what is dangerous to legalize guns, because guns are in the hands of the wrong people, crime and violence settings. I do not think people should be able to own a firearm possession of a firearm, because it will cause more problems than it solves. It has been proven time and time again to enjoy strict gun laws and low rates of violent crime country. In addition, people who own guns to protect often due to the accidental killing of their friends and family, and the children often have loaded guns, they found that playing at home, accidentally. The Substance of Life

...I think that overall life is a grand mystery where we all at some point wish to find our purpose and meaning of life. I believe the substance of life is spiritual for most people but I’m somewhat indecisive. It is kind of hard to determine if I believe in God because it is what was taught, or do I believe in a higher spiritual being to cope with life. Belief in a God is common and different religions praise different forms of God. God is frequently called the ultimate judge, with equal attributes to supernatural powers. This creates a debate in those that are judgmental. It allows developing behavior to be based on new principles of right and wrong. Behavior that deviates might otherwise be blocked out by the sensibilities that the majority finds justification and fellowship in a new group who can appeal to the authority of their god. People believe in god because it feels good, satisfying the natural desire for validation of their thoughts and acts. God is easier to convey as a behavior enforcer than group will, so it finds endless application as a social bond. Voltaire has long been quoted, "If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him”. Deism supports a belief in God, but a God who does not uphold the moral values we feel he should. It explains a logical question that I ponder on often, which is suffering. For me it makes it hard to swallow the notion that God would allow certain events to happen in life. Recently I have been looking into the Egyptian religion...
