The Lord Prayer The Bible verse that I have chosen for my Exegesis paper is Matthew 6:9-13. This verse states: (KJV) 9 After this manner therefore pray ye; Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us our day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory, forever. Amen I have include an excerpt from my thematic paper in reference to the author of this verse. I find that it is important and is relating to the structure of the Gospel and the verse. Matthew: Many sources have the Gospel of Matthew being written in Hebrew and its intended audience were the Jews. Many people say “there are no Hebrew manuscripts of this text.” Upon further investigation this is true to an extent. This question first arose in the 16th Century by the Dutch Theologian and patristic scholar Desiderius Erasmus.” He concluded that there was no evidence of an Aramaic or Hebrew original of Matthews Gospel; it is ineffective to argue Matthews Gospel originally appeared in Aramatic and was translated to Greek.” Matthew’s Gospel relies heavily on the quotations and prophecies from the Old Testament, some believe that the author was a Jew who wrote his gospel for other Jews. We later learned that the Gospel was written in Greek and the Old Testament references were taken from the Septuagint, an ancient Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible. For this reason we can conclude that he must have been writing for a Greek-speaking audience. If Matthew’s author was writing the Gospel for a Jewish audience, it would have been for Jews that speak Greek that believed in the Septuagint and had no idea of Hebrew. Imperato (16-17) states that Jesus repeatedly relates to the

Jonah Chapter 2 Analysis

...Jonah’s prayer in chapter two was one of the most beautiful prayers in the bible. It was a cry for help, but at the same time a song of repentance. In Jonah chapter 2 we as a group had to answer three questions. Our first question was how many prayers are mentioned in the book of Jonah, chapter 2. Second, when and where did Jonah pray the prayer. Lastly, was the fish a means of judgment or salvation. For our first question, “how many prayers are mentioned in Jonah 2”, the Bible says in Jonah 2:1, “Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God.” Again it said he “prayed” not Jonah’s prayers. Also, as you read through the chapter you do not have any breaking points through the prayer showing any indication that there is more than one prayer. We believe...

Reflection Paper 1

...Shaniqua S. Boyd February 6, 2015 THEO 104 Reflection Paper #1 Prayer Do you love to pray like I love to pray? When I pray I take out the time during many parts of my day to pray to my higher power. Prayer is communication with you and Jesus. In order to develop what prayer really is, you must have a clear definition of god. God is so personal being to us and when we pry we can interact with him. To understand it all I will help you understand what prayer is and what is not prayer. What is Prayer: For me prayer is a most important part of my communication process. When we pray we worship and seeks god attention because we know he is there and he listens to us. It might sound crazy but some people think that you just supposed to pray when you wake up and when you lie down to go to bed. Truth be told, there is no limit on when you can pray to your all mighty savior. I talk to him all the time. When I wake up in the morning I’m praying and thanking the lord that he woke me and my family up to see another day. As I am driving to work and asking him to let me and everybody in the world make it to see another day and to get to their destination safe and sound. When I am working I am praying for my co-workers and patients. I pray all the time because I need my blessings all the time. When you pray it do not always have to be that you are asking god for something. It could be that you want to confess to him of something or just praise him for all that he had done for you. Just...

The Spirit uses the word to teach us how to pray, since we do not know how to pray as we ought (Rm 8:26). The following prayers are guaranteed by God to change lives because they are based on the word. Most of these prayers have been used for several years in evangelistic ministry. They have repeatedly put thousands of people in touch with the life-giving power of God. The prayer of a holy person "availeth much" (Jas 5:16 KJV). How Satan Stops Prayers

...How satan Stops Our Prayers. COMBAT IN THE HEAVENLY REALM by John Mulinde,  Obsteig (Austria) Nov.  2000 www.DivineRevelations.info/COMBAT I want to share with you from a testimony of someone who was saved, someone who had been serving the devil.  And when that man gave his testimony, it so challenged me, I did not want to believe it.  I had to go ten days before the Lord in fasting, asking Him, "Lord, is this true?" And it was at that time the Lord began to teach me what happens in the spiritual realm when we pray.  This man was born after his parents dedicated themselves to lucifer.  When he was still in the womb, they made so many rituals dedicating him to serve lucifer.  When he was four years old, he began to exercise his spiritual power.  And his parents began fearing him.  When he was six years, his father surrendered him to the witches to go and be trained.  And by ten years, he was doing great things in the kingdom of the devil.  He was feared by the normal witches.  He was still a young boy, but he was so terrible in the things he did.  He grew up to be a young man in his twenties with so much bloodshed on his hands.  Killed at will.  He had the ability to go out of his body through transcendental meditation.  And he could levitate.  Sometimes his body would lift off the ground and stay in the air.  And sometimes he could go into a trance, and come out of his body; his body would remain behind, and he would go out into the world, this is called astro-travelling...

Dave Earley explains that “The eminence of great leaders in the Bible is attributable to the fact that they were great in their praying.” In his book, Prayer: The Timeless Secret of High-Impact Leaders, Earley covers nine topics that are essential and applicable for those who are spiritual leaders. Comparisons on Christianity and Islam

...similarity I discovered was the Lord’s Prayer in the Bible (Christianity)”Our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name” and the opening chapter in the Qur’an (Islam)”Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds, the compassionate, the merciful. King of the day of reckoning”. Both opening statements go to the root of all religions professed by man. These opening statements also tell of adoration of the Lord. The whole prayer of both the Islam religion and the Christian religion are universal prayers that are standard.[1] Both of these opening prayers are short and to the point. They open with professing their adoration of the Lord. As the prayers continue both have submission of man to the Lord and then supplication. 2. Another thought on similarities between the two religions is that both are monotheistic. This means that both believe in one God/Allah. Christians believe in God and Muslims believe in Allah. Both religions agree that there is one God who created the universe and is sovereign in the lives of men.[2] They both conjure that there is no God but God and we are not to worship any other Gods.[3] God/Allah is the creator of everything and has a unique relationship with humans. 3. Praying is also a big part of both Christianity and the Islam religion. They both take prayer very seriously and have standard prayers. Prayer is a means of communicating with God/Allah. The Christians and the Muslims believe God/Allah can hear prayers spoken and can grant...

Reflection Paper 2

...about Prayer and Sin Nature. Man is naturally a sinner and as we sin, we can use prayer to ask God for forgiveness. I believe these two topics relate to each other in so many ways that they would flow together easily as I write about them. The first topic I would like to discuss is Prayer. 2. Part One: Prayer The theological definition of prayer can be summarized as a conversation with God. Prayer may be oral or mental, occasional or constant, and informal or formal (Easton’s Bible Dictionary, Bible Gateway.com). The Bible gives a lot of leeway when it comes to how we pray or what we say to God in our prayers. The Biblical Foundation can be defined by how many times it is mentioned throughout the Bible and there are some very powerful examples of prayer represented. Samson prayed to God and God showed him a well to quench his burning thirst, and lived on to judge Israel (NKJV, Judges 15:18-20). Matthew: 6 gave us the Lord’s Prayer as a prayer to model ours after and give us a good foundation as to how to pray correctly. Practical application just means that prayer is a communication tool Christians use to communicate with God. We can pray in private or as a group. We can talk to the Lord or we can sing a song of prayer to the Lord. All of these examples give us a way to talk to the Lord and get our everyday feelings and needs expressed to the Lord in a manner that makes us feel spiritually connected to God. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in...

Various Kinds of Prayers

...Various Kinds of Prayer Cheryl Riley Maters II Theology May 9, 2015 Dr. Patricia Yeargan Various Kinds of Prayer Throughout my journey as a Christian I have found prayer to be a relevant part of my life. It is and essential instrument that all Christians can use on a daily basis. Prayer is defined as communication with God as our source of help just as you can use different instruments to make different sounds. Diverse prayers can yield different results. The Bible tells us in Thessalonians 5:16 “to pray without ceasing,” As we pray it opens up communication with our father God and strengthens our faith. As Christians we must pray to strengthen our relationship with him not because times are hard or that we are in need of something. Dr. R.T Kendall topic on the Various Kinds of Prayer enlightens people on the vast areas of praying. For instance the prayer of agreement can be used with intercessory prayer with great results. It also gives us insight to the power of prayer. Our heavenly Father values us more than anyone and wants to talk to us. With prayer, we all have equal access and we are all on level ground. What's more, prayer gives you the privilege of access to ultimate power. God can make anything happen. He can heal, solve any problem and change your financial situation and open doors. Cause everything that has happened in your life will work together for good. People must understand what prayer is, and why it is so important, and how you can overcome the obstacles...

...Jews. At the beginning of chapter 9, the prophecy of Jeremiah is brought into the picture. Jeremiah prophesied that Jerusalem would suffer 70 years of desolation. “For thus says the Lord, ‘When seventy years have been completed for Babylon, I will visit you and fulfill My good word to you, to bring you back to this place. “ For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 1You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.  I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will restore your fortunes and will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will bring you back to the place from where I sent you into exile.’” (Jer. 29:10-14) Daniel gained access to the writing of the prophet Jeremiah. Daniel fully understood what the writing meant so when he read the prophecies of Jeremiah, he became encouraged to pray that Jerusalem be restored. Daniel believed that the seventy years mentioned in the writings of Jeremiah were literal and would be fulfilled. Although Daniel had much faith that the prophecies would take place, he also believed that much prayer would be needed to push things forward. Daniel would pray three times a day while look down at Jerusalem from his room. Daniel...
