...Mustafa Culban 21301187 ENG 101- Sec. 77 Sarah Marie Christian 06 March 2014 ESSAY 1 Humans are trying to live their lives by establishing superiority over the other living species and human kind, too. They may have right when they think that is okay to do. They hunted animals greedly and as Mark Twain mentioned in his essay which is about The Lowest Animal man even said that they were patriots and religious –according to them they were the most one- on the World. However, human kind were wrong that they had misunderstood being the highest animal on the world. Twain was right about his statements about the Morality that makes us more demonic animals. Also Twain has a point about our behaviour.Twain thought that we were killing more animals just for our passion instead of making shift, and he also uttered that we were stocking of vast of foods which is also bad act that can’t be accepted for the highest animals about human behaviours. However Twain was not right about the part of ilnesses. He claimed that we had body parts which were unnecesary and malfucntion. Moral sense of human is one of the fundamental issue that is enlarging day by day with the help of our belief and enslaving people. For example according to Twain the inner sense enables us to do wrong things even we don’t want to do. To give an example from mythology, there is a man story that is about a passion of consuming, wanting everything from the heaven and the expulsion from paradise as a price of these...

...Predict. What might be an example of a “low” animal? Predict. What might be an example of a “low” animal? The Lowest Animal (1896) Mark Twain What’s Twain’s thesis? (the main argument he is proposing) What’s Twain’s thesis? (the main argument he is proposing) 1 I have been studying the traits and dispositions of the lower animals (so-called), and contrasting them with the traits and dispositions of man. I find the result humiliating to me. For it obliges me to renounce my allegiance to the Darwinian theory of the Ascent of Man from the Lower Animals, since it now seems plain to me that that theory ought to be vacated in favor of a new and truer one, this new and truer one to be named the Descent of Man from the Higher Animals. What does Twain do to establish his credibility (ETHOS APPEAL) with his reader in this paragraph? What does Twain do to establish his credibility (ETHOS APPEAL) with his reader in this paragraph? 2 In proceeding toward this unpleasant conclusion, I have not guessed or speculated or conjectured, but have used what is commonly called the scientific method. That is to say, I have subjected every postulate that presented itself to the crucial test of actual experiment and have adopted it or rejected it according to the result. Thus, I verified and established each step of my course in its turn before advancing to the next. These experiments were made in the London Zoological Gardens and covered many months of painstaking...

...In The Lowest Animal, Mark Twain’s Philosophical beliefs are revealed, in your opinion are his generalizations about people and their behavior valid, partly valid, or completely valid? His generalizations in The Lowest Animal are valid in this short story. “The Higher Animals engage in individual fights, but never in organized masses. Man is the only animal that deals in that atrocity of atrocities, war” (Twain, 470). “In truth, man is incurably foolish. Simple things which the other animals learn easily, he is incapable of learning”(Twain, 471). “He is the only animal that loves his neighbor as himself, and cuts his throat if his theology is different (Twain, 471). When he states that we are the only that “engage in the atrocity of atrocities,...

...In the United States, there are almost 80,000 individuals who work as a veterinarian (Mckay). A veterinarian is an individual who has the ability to provide medical care and to provide treatment to animals. However, this definition is very broad. There are the typical “everyday” vets who can run their own practice and treat animals like dogs and cats. In addition to this kind of vet, there are also professional vets who have work in zoos; these veterinarians have to put up with dangerous situations because they are working with wild animals like lions, tigers, elephants, etc. Third, there are the individuals who work with the large and sometimes small animals who live on farms including horses, cows, donkeys, etc. No matter what area a...

...In the united states 10% of our disposable income goes to food. The question is why is the percentage so low? Why does the United States have the lowest percentage of disposable income spent on food compared to other countries? How does animal agricultural contribute to this? In 1960-2007 the disposable income on food fell from 18% to 10%. This drop occurred because prices of other consumer goods outpaced the price of food, incomes rose at a fast rate than food prices. The reason Americans percentage on money spent on disposable food is because Americans earn more income which gives them more money to spend. Another big thing is food production. People in the united states complain about the amount of money spent on groceries not knowing we are the country with the lowest percentage of disposable income. 90% of the u.s population produced their own food back then, today only 2% of the population does this. Animal agriculture has played a big part in keeping this percentage low. Starting with the development and the change in technology. Farmers now have the advantage of...

...The biome I chose was the taiga because it’s cold and it’s very interesting. The animal I chose with in that biome is one the most amazing animals ever which is the Elk. I chose elk because it’s a type of breed of deer but it’s most intriguing from my personal perspective. The Elks biomes climate is mainly intense cold, especially during the winter in a taiga climate, but it can get moderately warm during summer. The taiga’s climate is found usually in Northern Hemisphere area such as North America, Eurasia (meaning Europe and Asia’s location). But in this case I’m doing it in North America. It’s winter climate is snowy, cold, and long (about 6-7 months), the lowest temperature in the winter was -65 degrees fahrenheit. The highest temperature...

...Animal Abuse Animal abuse laws have been around for years dating back towards the 1600s. Animal abuse is sometimes compared to child abuse because of how fragile they are. In many cases, animal abuse is so horrendous that the animal is left unrecognizable. Animal abuse falls under many different categories fur trade, animal testing, animal hoarding, and animals in captivity. As for the laws fur trade has one called the Fur Products Labeling Act, animal testing has Animal Welfare Act (AWA), and animals in captivity have the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) as well. Fur trading has been going on for centuries to make coats and they showed wealth and fortune. Although the ones who started it was the Indians they traded along the Mississippi river...

This is because sunlight is reflected by the planet's water. * Asia Continent is covered 30% of the total earth land area, but represent 60% of the world's population. * The world's deadliest recorded earthquake occurred in 1557 in central China, more than 830,000 people were killed. * The Persian Gulf is the warmest sea. In the summer its temperature reaches 35.6 degrees centigrade. * Sunlight can penetrate clean ocean water to a depth of 240 feet. * Louisiana loses about 30 square miles (78 square kilometers) of land each year to coastal erosion, hurricanes, other natural and human causes and a thing called subsidence, which means sinking. * Only 3% water of the earth is fresh, rest 97% salted. Of that 3%, over 2% is frozen in ice sheets and glaciers. Means less than 1% fresh water is found in lakes, rivers and underground. * The total surface area of the Earth is 197 million square miles. * The word "Arctic" comes from the ancient Greek Arktikos, or "country of the great bear." Though the Greeks had no knowledge of the polar bear, they named the region after the constellation Ursus Major, the Great Bear, found in the Northern Sky. * A huge underground river runs underneath the Nile, with six times more water than the river above. * About 540 volcanoes on land are known. ...(Criticism) Reading this article of Mark Twain about the Damned Human Race, I was quite intrigued about how the writer speculated his own theory (about why humans should be in the lowest stage of the chain) although at some point, I find it precise. Excluding its positive side, he settled comparison between the cruelty of humans and the innocence of other wild animals. He used scientific method to conclude such. Based on his experiments, he proved that humans became more hesitant; that humans are more wild and raucous; and that humans are more likely chaotic than any other animals. Analytically citing, he conducted random experiments comparing the so-called lower animals to us humans. He used sarcasm to show that society is more backwards than of what most individual consider. He as well established the descent of humans from the lower animals. Opposing to this matter, I consider certain things proving that humans should not be in the bottommost of the chain. One thing I would like to render is that positive side of humans which denotes responsiveness towards animal (other) care. Twain have mentioned that humans are merely tolerating numbers of wild animals for unacceptable reasons, but the real thing is that humans are only being defensive for their own protection. In connection to this, other wild animals are as well, being defensive when it comes to their own safety. Lending skunks as an example, they too, when mistreated or bothered, would spray smelly mists to its attackers...

...men and women have long forgotten. They are beautiful, highly intelligent, but sadly very misunderstood creatures. Wolves are a remarkable because of their social structure, physical traits, and communication. Wolves function as a social pack and are established according to a strict hierarchy, with a dominant male and his mate. The leaders of the pack have the greatest amount of social freedom compared to the rest of the pack. In addition, they help resolve any disputes within the pack and have greater control over resources, such as food. Also, the dominant male and female are usually the only animals of the pack to breed. Second in command are the beta wolves and at the lowest position in the pack is the omega. Furthermore, all wolves in the pack assist in raising wolf pups and hunting for food. Wolves are the largest members of the dog family. They are powerful built animals that possess the strength to take down a moose. Also, wolves have the willpower to travel long distances and run up to 35 miles an hour. In addition, wolves have two layers of heavy coats. The first layer of hair is tough guard hairs, while the second layer is a dense undercoat. Moreover, wolves have a keen eyesight and can detect the slightest movement in front of them. Their night vision is one of the most advanced eye sights. They also have a magnificent way of communicating with each other. Body language in wolves is communicated by a variety of facial expressions and tail positions. Dominant...
