In Don Marquis, I do not agree with the with the narrator’s view of the moth. From my understanding, the moth did not fulfill its happiness in life and wanted to fry itself in the lightbulb. In the poem, the narrator stated he would “rather have half the happiness and twice the longevity.” Although in reality, I might not agree with the narrator’s view, I believe that in the perfect world, I would agree with the statement. Unfournately, life throws some of the hardest pitches, but we have to learn how to catch them and learn the lesson in the end. I would rather live the shortest life, but have an unlimited supply of happiness. Why would you want a sorrowful, long-life course? I would not want to wake-up and repeat, the same schedule, or criteria.
