Welcome to WritePoint, the automated review system that recognizes errors most commonly made by university students in academic essays. The system embeds comments into your paper and suggests possible changes in grammar and style. Please evaluate each comment carefully to ensure that the suggested change is appropriate for your paper, but remember that your instructor's preferences for style and format prevail. You will also need to review your own citations and references since WritePoint capability in this area is limited. NOTE: WritePoint comments are computer-generated writing and grammar suggestions inviting the consideration and analysis of the writer; they are not infallible statements of right/wrong, and they should not be used as grading elements. Also, at present, WritePoint cannot detect quotations or block-quotes, so comments in those areas should be ignored. Please see the other helpful writing resources in the Tutorials and Guides section of the Center for Writing Excellence. Thank you for using WritePoint.

Have Western Liberal Democracies Effectively Responded to Challenges to Their Power? in Your Answer, Refer to at Least One Internal and One External Challenge.

...Have Western liberal democracies effectively responded to challenges to their power? In your answer, refer to at least one internal and one external challenge. Introduction In 1989 political scientist Francis Fukuyama declared “the end of history.”[1] Despite his language, Fukuyama was not an apocalyptic religious fundamentalist awaiting the rapture, but rather, he saw with the collapse of the Soviet Union the ultimate and final triumph of liberal democracy. Fukuyama draws on Marxist and Hegelian interpretations of the narrative of history as one of progress, in this case with its apex at the liberal democracy best represented by the United States of America. The triumphalism of this context may seem naïve in a post-9/11 world, but it should be seen in its original context of the decades long cold war between the US (and its allies) and the Soviet Union. These two sides came to represent an ideological conflict rather than a purely physical one, between liberal capitalist democracy and authoritarian communism, between free enterprise and central planning. Liberal democracy emerged victorious economically, politically and, Fukuyama would argue, philosophically. However, Fukuyama would be hard pressed to defend his near-eschatological optimism today, and Marxist critic Terry Eagleton has said that “the End of History is at an end.”[2] Rather than the comparatively monolithic opposition it experienced in the 20th Century, today the political dominance of liberal democracy is...

...because forces are measured using laboratory experiments in the simplest of ways. Kuhn believed that there were three stages to developing a paradigm. The first stage is a pre-science where there is no common understanding of the subject criteria, or there are too many different approaches, with too many alternative research methods. The next stage is a normal science where there is a unified set of beliefs and values which are commonly agreed on by all and researchers decide on what to research. The final stage of developing a paradigm is revolution which is a set paradigm that has experience paradigm shifts meaning that the focus of research has changed direction. In Kuhn’s opinion, psychology was a pre-science due to there not being one unifying theory of what psychology is about. Instead there are several different approaches, all of which...

How Far Do You Agree with the View That Germany's Aggressive Actions Were Chiefly Responsible for the Outbreak of World War One? Use the Sources to Answer the Question.

...chiefly responsible for the outbreak of World War One? Use the sources to answer the question. Germany's aggressive actions were significantly responsible for the out break of World War One. There were many factors and events that played a part but the main one is preparation for war. By 1913, the fact that Germany felt threatened by the upcoming and inevitable war suggests that they were the ones responsible for the outbreak, especially due to all the aggressive actions done. Source 2 states that this conclusion is correct, and that it was Germany's aggressive actions that caused, the outbreak, especially from 'pushing Austria into a premature declaration of war'. Source 3 on the other hand suggests that it has been exaggerated over time the extent that Germany were aggressive and that it was more tactical that it was aggressive. Source 1 sits on the fence slightly, with it just edging towards deciding that Germany were aggressive in their actions. Source 1, written by Blackburn, suggests that although Germany would have preferred to get what they wanted without war, then that would have been the way they would have gone. However, Blackburn contradicts himself when he says that their actions had done a lot create tensions suggesting that it was aggressive actions that were a responsibility of the outbreak of the 1914 war. Blackburn states that Bethmann-Hollweg was a sensitive man who would rather shy away from war than start one, but it was shown in the War Council meeting of...
