Romeo and Juliet Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story about young love. In the end, their love proves dangerous and there are many theories as to who is at fault for their unfortunate deaths. Many characters throughout the story certainly contributed to the passing of Romeo and Juliet, but who’s really to blame? The truth is, it is not just one person that caused their deaths, but in fact many characters throughout the story. Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, Lady Montague, and Lord Montague began the feud that eventually forced their children to hide their love for one another. As Lady Capulet once said, “ Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn, the gallant, young and noble gentleman, the county Paris, at Saint Peter’s church, shall happily make thee there a joyful bride.” (Act 3, Scene 5) Forced marriage …show more content…
The Nurse cared for Juliet since her birth, and when Juliet met Romeo, the Nurse did not jump to end the relationship. Instead, she listened to Juliet declare her love for Romeo, and while Juliet needed someone to talk to, the Nurse was there. However, while the Nurse listened, she did not exactly encourage the relationship, in fact, she tried to tell Juliet that it was wrong, but when it didn’t work she should have found another way to conclude it. Friar Lawrence is a whole different tale. He was the one who provided Romeo and Juliet the plans to escape and live together, and even gave them the poison as apart of it. As he said, “ And in this borrow’d likeness of shrunk death, Thou shalt continue two and forty hours, and then awake from a pleasant sleep.” (Act 5, Scene 1) Little did Juliet know that the poison he gave her in order to fall into a sleep would indeed cause Romeo to take his own life and be followed by her committing suicide as
