The Pink Sweater

The important possession is a sweater that was passed down to me from my Aunt Shirley. The sweater was given to my nana before my Aunt Shirley had passed. When I got older, Nana gave me the sweater she had told me that it was from my Aunt Shirley. My Nana and my Aunt Shirley were sisters. The sweater was pink and hand-made by her. I always kept the sweater in my closet at my Nana’s and papa’s apartment. I keep it in the closet because it is very important to me. I keep the sweater hung up in the closet so that I will not destroy it. Another reason it stays hanging up is so that it will stay safe. I did not know that my Aunt Shirley had passed until my Nana told me when she handed me the sweater. When my sister gets

Things They Carried By Tim O Brien: Character Analysis

...Mary Anne is shown as a nice bubbly girl. It is also brought up that people like her would never understand any of this. By displaying these characteristics Tim O’Brien is setting Mary Anne up for character development. Transition Phrase Further on in the book we see a psychologically changed Mary Anne, and she Context #2 is shown to have stopped talking to all of the soldiers, becoming secretive as she begins to sneak out at night, and losing her fun bubbly characteristic. Evidence #2 [Mary Anne] had crossed to the other side. She was part of the land. She was wearing her culottes, her pink sweater, and a necklace of human tongues. She was dangerous. She was ready for the kill. Analysis #2 Mary Anne is shown in her normal clothes but is said to have crossed over to “the other side” and she has the addition of a human tongue to her wardrobe. She is given this sense of innocence at the beginning of the text however, at the end of her story she has evolved into a nutcase with questionable taste in jewelry. This display of Mary Anne later on in the book shows her character development. Conclusion Mary Anne was driven insane after having spent just a few weeks in Vietnam, it seems as though Vietnam affects everyone...

Tara Walters S2892604 1510HUM Introduction to Public Relations | This case study focuses on the People for Ethical Rights and Treatment of Animals (PETA) and their campaign to boycott the Australian Wool Industry and in particular the practice of ‘mulesing’ on the sheep (“Save the Sheep” campaign). Australia is one of the world largest producers of wool, and the last country to inherit ethical agricultural practices in the Wool Industry (AWI). Firstly I cover the research and situation analysis aspects of a 10 point plan, describing PETA, the cruel practice of ‘mulesing’ and the PETA campaigns main focus of phasing it out using boycotting. Then researching and explaining PETAS goals and tactics of the plan, going in to detail on the strategy used by targeting International apparel retailers, which included aggressive advertising threats against retailers and how targeting an Australian Industry off shore was a great benefit for the campaign. Finally I will show the campaigns outcome, evaluating the success it had, even against a large industry which are stuck in there ways. Managing to boycott the industry with major retailers...

Singapore consists of the island of Singapore and some 63 islets within its territorial waters.  Like most of Southeast Asia, Singapore is generally hot and humid. It's warm and humid year round, with the temperature almost never dropping below 20°C (68°F), even at night, and usually climbing to 30°C (86°F) during the day. November and December is the rainy season. June-August is considered to be the best time to visit, but even then it rains often. Don't let the climate stop you from going, however. Most buildings are air-conditioned (to the point that you may want to take a sweater), and pains have been taken to make...

Bangladesh Garments Export

...Bangladesh garment exports boom despite disasters Published July 09, 2013 AFP * In this photograph taken on June 23, 2010, Bangladeshi women sew clothes in a garment factory in Ashulia. Output from Bangladesh's accident-prone garment sector has increased in June, with demand from foreign retailers still growing despite the country's factory disaster in April. (AFP/File) DHAKA (AFP) –  Output from Bangladesh's accident-prone garment sector increased in June, data showed Tuesday, with demand from foreign retailers still growing despite the country's factory disaster in April. At least 1,129 people were killed when the Rana Plaza factory complex collapsed outside the capital Dhaka in April, sparking demonstrations against Western brands and prompting some retailers to threaten to cancel orders. Government data released on Tuesday showed that the country's total exports -- 80 percent of which come from the garment sector -- soared by 16 percent year-on-year in June to $2.7 billion, following an increase of 15 percent in May. "The disasters didn't have much impact. They are scattered incidents," head of the government's Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Shuvhashish Bose told AFP, referring to the Rana Plaza tragedy and other factory fires that have killed another 130 workers since November. Total exports from Bangladesh, the second-biggest clothing manufacturer in the world after China, grew by 11 percent to a record $27.02 billion in the 2012-13 financial year to June. ...
