Executive Summary
This Report was commissioned to examine the needs, wants and satisfaction levels associated with international visitors who visit national parks in throughout Victoria. The research draws attention to ways in which Parks Victoria's can increase nature based tourism. Our aim was to develop and test a questionnaire for collecting the data, which provides a suitable consistent approach to international visitors, surveying for park visitation which allows for comparisons across parks and aggregation of data from selected variables.
Further investigations reveal that park management requires better understanding towards international visitors, the facilities and park services. Park management require data from individual visitors, this data would include socioeconomic and cultural characteristics, experience, norms, attitudes and preferences. The questionnaire will provide detailed information regarding overall visitor satisfaction, who are the international visitors and are they getting value for money, across-park comparisons of key variables and the core data is predominantly of interest at a park level. The method of data collection has been consistently applied across all Parks and Tourism Victoria's sites by using a set of core variables.
It is recommended that * As a questionnaire is an inexpensive research program, it would make an excellent starting point based on the required data. * This research insists that there is a need for a greater understanding of the facilitators for participation of international visitors and nature based tourism * It’s important to identify where international visitors obtain information, what destinations and activities they’re most likely to suggest to others

...The Roaring Twenties Kimberly Brooks HIS/125 August 14, 2011 Michael Potts The United States in the 1920’s was in the center of an alteration in production. “The sale of electricity doubled; the consumption of fuel oil doubled more” (Davidson, Gienapp, & Heyrman, Ch 24 p.684, 2006). The economy began to grow rapidly between 1922 and 1927. According to Davidson, Gienapp and Heyrman (2006) if anything roared in the “roaring twenties, it was industry and commerce” (Davidson, Gienapp, & Heyrman, Ch 24 p.684, 2006). However, technology was somewhat responsible, new consumer goods allowed the labor force to grow rapidly. “Between 1919 and 1927 the average income climbed nearly $150 for each American” (Davidson, Gienapp, & Heyrman, Ch 24 p.684, 2006). Mean while the economy grew and the consumer goods appeared in the stores. Many Americans were not banking. “Personal debt was rising two and a half times faster than a person’s income, an unhealthy sign of consumers scrambling to spend” (Davidson, Gienapp, & Heyrman, Ch24 p.684, 2006). With technology and the spending of consumer’s new developed industries assisted the growth of the economy. Construction was a part of the economic growth, as people began to merge to other cities residential construction doubled. “Construction stimulated other business too: steel, concrete, lumber, home mortgages and insurance” (Davidson, Gienapp, & Heyrman, Ch24 p.684, 2006). ...Bob Dylan, noted singer-songwriter Singer-songwriters are musicians who write, compose and sing their own musical material including lyrics and melodies. As opposed to contemporary popular music singers who write their own songs, the term singer-songwriter describes a distinct form of artistry, closely associated with the folk-acoustic tradition. Singer-songwriters often provide the sole accompaniment to an entire composition or song, typically using a guitar or piano; both the compositions and the arrangements are written primarily as solo vehicles, with the material angled toward topical issues—sometimes political, sometimes introspective, sensitive, romantic, and confessional. Lori: Let’s not go there what you I can never forget. Zach: That’s been so long ago and besides I have apologized so many times for my mistake. Why don’t you forgive and forget? ...As this course has progressed it has become more and more apparent to me that just as a part of the title indicates, marketing, in part, is truly about strategic decision making. Real world businesses, both brick and mortar and Web, are smart to have very good marketing savvy people in place in order to be competitive and survive in the global economy. Nowhere is this more evident than in how customers should always remain as the focus of any business. The value of the customer-business partnership begins with the exchange relationships that are developed between them. According to Mullins and Walker (2010), individuals and businesses alike, look to obtain goods and services via exchange transactions. One side of this relationship begins with businesses and organizations marketing their products. Businesses can be either digital (space) or physical (place) when building these relationships and it is important to make sure the proper markets are targeted. In todays economy companies are taking a developmental approach to participate in varying aspects of e-commerce and the internet. In the digital environment it is important that the proper mediums are explored when participating in these technologies. The internet, web, social networks and email are all vital to success in the digital world. Mullins and Walker (2010), noted that there are three important steps in the market segmentation process; identifying a homogeneous segment that differs from other segments; specify...

...Space and Place BUS620: Managerial Marketing NANCY WALDRON November 28, 2011 Many organizations in this economy try to reach the most consumers so that they can be the leading organization within the market segment in which they operate. Implementing many methods can do this; they use these methods so that they can have a return on investment so that they can be successful. Some organizations are utilizing technology to reach the most consumers they can by going and operating in the digital world as well as having a physical location that consumers can go buy. By using the Internet, organizations are able to reach consumers outside of their geographical location and reach markets segments closed to them before. Organizations that use the Internet to reach the market segment they are aiming for have a heads up on organizations that do not. By utilizing the internet and operating in the digital world an organization can have global reach; this makes the company available to consumers anywhere they can access the web (Mullins & Walker, pg 381). This also makes them available 24/7, 365 days to consumers, that can easily be tracked and by using specific keywords, or when they click on a company’s banner (Mullins & Walker, pg 355). The use of the internet and consumers using a digital space of a particular organization allows marketing research companies to track and better understand customer insights for the production of new products (Mullins & Walker, pg 386)...

Mysterious Places

...Mysterious Places Mamyan Ann Our environment is full of magical, mystical, and mysterious places that defy explanation.  There are treasures yet to be found, stone carvings we don't yet understand, and architectural feats to be explained.  Even as we live in what we consider to be the most technologically advanced society in all history, there are currently no air-tight explanations for most of the true wonders of our planet and beyond. The Great Pyramids of Egypt are the oldest structures on earth, contain compelling evidence of a civilization far more advanced than ours, and most likely existed thousands of years before the great flood.  With their original exteriors, they could probably be seen from the moon. The Mayan Civilization left behind incredible structures containing precise calculations and prophecies regarding the exact date of end of the world........Do you know that date? A site being studied on the side of Mt.  Ararat in Turkey may be the remains of the Biblical Noah's Ark. Scientists are currently quietly investigating a site off the western tip of Cuba that some say may be part of the lost city of Atlantis. We know less about the bottom of our own seas than we do about outer space.  There is a form on the surface of Mars that strongly appears to resemble an Egyptian face carving.  Is there a link? These are just a few of the many fascinating and mysterious places we intend to visit on these pages.  From sunken...

The book shows the lives of these women and how different situations affected their lives. Most of them were affected by men. In my opinion, after reading the book men seem like the “bad guys,” yet women were not the victims. Most of these women let themselves be manipulated by men. But, after finishing The Men of Brewster Place I realized that both men and women were equally affected and that women are stronger than men. Ben and Lorraine had a positive friendship, but he had a tough life, which made him an alcoholic, before he met her. Since, he was drunk, she might had seen him as a threat instead of help. All these women gave...

4th Place

...Mexico wants the fourth place   On September 8, in an attempt to curb obesity, the Mexican government proposed a one-peso tax (eight cents) for every liter of sugar-sweetened beverages. This way, Mexico follows Denmark, Hungary and France, and could become the fourth country to establish a tax of this kind. According to a 2012 national survey, almost a third of Mexican adults are obese, while nearly 40% are overweight, making it the fattest industrialized nation. The government, as well as some NGOs, argues that the tax will increase soft drinks prices, resulting in a decrease of their demand and a shift toward healthier products. At the same time, they want the revenue collected to be use in preventive campaigns. It may look like a great policy, but in my opinion it will not work here are four reasons why:   1) Bottled soda is the sixth most important product between foods and beverages for the average Mexican household, with 1.14% of the income being spent on it; milk has a share of 1.44% and beer occupies the first place with a share of 1.59%. Beer is harmful and is already highly taxed but still widely consumed, what would make soft drinks different? 2) For low-income families, soft drinks represent a necessity that provides cheap calories relative to healthier, more expensive products. The demand for soft drinks for these families is more inelastic to changes in price than for other households, meaning they will keep buying them. Therefore, the tax will strike...

A Small Place

...A Small Place Essay British colonization is what led to the corruption of Antigua and society through the eyes of Jamaica Kincaid. The book shows the significance of the arrival of outside countries and people and the effect it had on Caribbean islands. Through Kincaid’s various views throughout the book, perspectives range from viewpoints of tourists traveling to the Caribbean to viewing society through the eyes of Antiguan natives; even through the eyes of Jamaica Kincaid herself as a young child during the colonization periods. Kincaid’s sour tone throughout the text shows her passion for her home country and its history as she feels Antigua has been and is corrupted by the outside presence of other nations. A majority of A Small Place is expressed through Kincaid’s personal point of view and, consequently, is written in the first-person. However, she tends to write in the second-person point of view when she’s referring to tourists and even early English colonists. Her constant use of “you” in her writing makes her claims more personal and strong in distinguishing the dislike for what the tourists represent. Her tone even gets more aggressive at times. “Do you ever try to understand why people like me cannot get over the past, cannot forgive and cannot forget? There is the Barclay’s Bank. The Barclay brothers are dead. The human beings they traded, the human beings who to them were only commodities, are dead.” (Kincaid 27) Her claims towards the tourists are...

Space and Place

...Space and Place There are several aspects that will affect the success an organization will have when related to the marketing world. There are typically two kinds of presence that an organization will obtain when attempting to market and sell their products. The “space” (digital) and “place” (physical) presence of an organization will ultimately determine the success it will have. Much of this evaluation on how an organization chooses to select which presence is the best medium for their identity and products depends on different factors of consumer preferences. A physical positioning for organizations that choose to use a place presence is very important for a strategic reach of the target market. However, in a digital market there are numerous advantages for customers over a physical presence. Today, practically anyone with internet access can buy basically any product online and have it delivered to a specific location or pick it up at the organization’s actual physical location. This paper will discuss the marketing implications for reaching target market segments in each medium as well as the advantages and disadvantages of strictly using only a digital or physical presence. Honestly, an organization that uses both a space and place presence in their marketing campaign will usually have the most success. “The internet today gives consumers the opportunity to shop anywhere at any time whenever they choose” (Rafaeli & Vilnai-Yavetz, p. 162). This is a powerful...

Spirit of Place

...Diwa ng Lunan: Understanding Filipino Architecture In this world, there are places that give people strong mental images, a memory or created one, which make them unique and different from other spaces. The spirit of place, or diwa ng Lunan, is a belief that each place has its own identity, character and uniqueness that differ from others. It has its own meanings that its inhabitants give value to. There are different factors that may have brought on the individuality to these places – the architectural style used, the site, the use of local materials, the climate, the cultural aspects affecting the place and the values that the people hold on to. Filipino Architecture is the reflection of the history and heritage of the country, which the author thinks is what diwa ng Lunan is about: the memories people create in a place that make it different. Having a rich past, all the occurrences in our history have contributed to the uniqueness that Filipino architecture has established to the minds of the Filipinos. The most prominent historic constructions in the archipelago are influenced by the Spanish, Chinese and Japanese culture. The Philippine architecture is like a narration of the country’s past, even before the colonization happened. The pre-colonial structures our forefathers built, the nipa huts, are made of materials found in nature. In present days, although replaced with stone houses, we always see nipa huts as something that defines the Filipino culture. They remind...

...and other kitchen gadgets my husband purchased for me. (p.704) The Great Exhibition has increased my workload in other areas of the home. I now have many more objects to dust and polish to keep up appearances and keep my husband happy. The dusting alone can be an all day job! As per Mrs. Beeton’s advice, I do strive to keep a clean, happy home and make sure that dinner is ready when my husband gets home. After all, “the way to a mans heart it through his stomach” (p.705). I do find that the many magazines available to me, assist a great deal with my meal preparation, though I quietly wish that there weren’t so many courses and there wasn’t so much work going into every meal. I have seen and spoken with other women in the market place, and all but those with the extra help of household staff, seem to be struggling with these concepts as well, some even more than me. It is said that working wives and mothers are expected to keep up these standards as well, though I don’t know how one could. I do so like how Mrs. Beeton refers to us homemakers as “commanders” of sorts (p. 706), it makes one feel in charge and empowered to take control of her household duties. I just wish so much pressure wasn’t put on women to strive for perfection in all aspects of the home (home maintenance, clean perfect children and a perfect appearance). While I love my husband and my family, and I enjoy showing my love with a hot meal and a...
