In some companies, file sharing services are provided to generate business revenue stream and sometimes these services are illegal and still used to advertise “clue chips brand”, (Andersen, B, 2010). So far there is enough potential for the business to be made, file sharing will sustain its existence in the global internet market. This papers focuses on the legal and social issues brought up by peer-to-peer sharing of files and copyrighted information on the websites. Companies argue that limitation against file sharing will pause the technology innovation. On the other side, it is certain that file sharing may break IP protections that Pirate bay knowingly exploits these protections. Research shows that the music industry has justification to shut down peer to peer file sharing which reduces the amount of file sharing but for the short term. As per the opinion of legal team, Pirate Bay is not a sustainable business and the paper focuses on the legal and social issues of illegal file sharing by Pirate Bay. This papers talks about both issues in order to give justification of the pirates bay case study framework.

Windshield Survey

...Windshield Survey Bay Ridge is an interesting neighborhood with quiet residential areas, plenty of recreational activities, shops, and restaurants. The homes in Bay Ridge cover a wide spectrum of styles and prices. The housing here is mostly made up of single family homes on tree-lined streets, but there are also a lot of co-ops and some apartments. It's very safe; the neighbors in Bay Ridge are friendly and look out for each other. The population is mainly Italian, Greek, and Irish, but there are a good number of Arabic speaking residents as well. It also has a huge elderly population because this is a town where people stay their whole lives. There is no shortage of things to do with lots of restaurants that serve ethnic foods, nice parks, and a lovely pier where people fish. Most of the action takes place on 86th street, and there are more than one hundred bars in this town. While there are subway stations and an express bus in Bay Ridge, the commute to Manhattan is lengthy. Drivers have easy access to major highways, but parking can be challenging. Most people, especially the senior will walk to their destination. The lack of parking adds to the problem. It does not make sense to move the car when there is no parking available. Some houses have created their own parking spaces by making a space in the front yard Upon walking down 86th street, the street is lined with every kind of store you would expect to find in a mall in suburban America: Century 21, McDonald's, 86...

Project Clara Harris

...Here is a news account of the event that led to the charges against Ms. Harris: NASSAU BAY, Texas -- A Houston-area woman was arrested early Thursday morning, accused of running over her husband and killing him after learning that he was cheating on her. When asked about her husband's death, Clara Harris told News2Houston that, "It was an accident." But Nassau Bay police said that they don't see it as an accident and said that Harris has been charged with first-degree murder. The incident happened shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hilton Nasa Clear Lake, Nasa Road 1, in Nassau Bay. Investigators said that Clara Harris confronted her husband, David Lynn Harris, in the hotel's lobby. "She said that she was just distraught over the marital problems that they were evidently having," Nassau Bay Police Lt. Joe Cashiola said. The argument moved to the hotel's parking lot, where Clara Harris got behind the wheel of her Mercedes and ran her husband down, authorities said. "Officers arrived on the scene and found the victim had been struck multiple times with the car," Cashiola said. "Since then, we have brought the wife up here for questioning (and) during the interview she has admitted her involvement." Police said that Clara Harris had long suspected her husband was cheating on her, and that her suspicions were allegedly confirmed by a private investigator. "She has admitted hiring a private investigation firm to follow her husband around," Cashiola said. "So there was some...

Facility Desgin

...My facility evaluation took me to visit The Don Hutson Center, which is the indoor practice facility of the Green Bay Packers. The Hutson Center is located across the street from the legendary Lambeau Field, it was constructed in 1994 at a cost an estimated $4.7 million. The space has since been renovated and some technological advancements have been made inside of the structure to help the overall functionality of the facility for the Green Bay Packers. Following are a list of questions that was asked/answered by Bryan Nehring who works in Facilities/Equipment for the Green Bay Packers and has been there for 20+ years. His experience with the practice facilities and seeing the current facility evolve to what it is now was a great resource. Who was Don Hutson? The center is named after Don Hutson, who played for the Packers from 1935 to 1945. Hutson is a member of both the Pro Football and Packers Hall of Fame. The Don Hutson Center is the largest element of the Packers' practice facility, which is broken into two other fields; Ray Nitschke Field and Clarke Hinkle Field. What is the Facility Design? There are two practice fields inside the Don Hutson Center, a 70-yard field runs East & West, with another 60-yard field running North & South. This setup is optimal because it allows the offense and defense to practice simultaneously without the issues of space, it’s something in which for any coach works out to their advantage. With 90-foot and 85-foot high ceilings...

Galveston Man Vs Land

...protect the city from future hurricanes. In 1931 despite the protests of oil, towing, and timber operations, the entrance to Lake Anahuac on the northern shore of Trinity Bay was closed to protect rice irrigation systems. The 6,000 acre lake was isolated from the Galveston Bay system and converted to a shallow freshwater lake. In 1966, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed a tidal floodgate, isolating Moses Lake from the bay which was once open to lower Galveston Bay. A levee system was also constructed on the southern shore of Moses Lake to protect the city from floodwaters. Other areas of impacted by isolation include the privately owned Delhomme hunting area and the impoundment used as part of the Reliant Energy Cedar Bayou Generating Station's cooling system. Shipping terminals impact shoreline through the dredging of channels, excavation of land for berths, and through the direct conversion of shoreline habitat to shipping terminal facilities. Private Prisons

...Privatization of Prisons Private Prison, Inc. Introduction America has been getting tougher on lawbreakers. This is something that the public long has been demanding. The problem it creates, however, is a shortage of prison capacity to hold the increased numbers of convicted criminals. This has led to: prison overcrowding, sometimes prompting court actions against penal systems; rapidly rising operational outlays; and taxpayer resistance to the cost of new prisons. A partial answer to the problems of prison overcrowding and high costs may be the "privatization" of prisons. Costs and overcrowding problems are the driving force behind the privatization phenomenon. As a national average, it costs roughly $20,000 per year to keep an inmate in prison. There are approximately 650,000 inmates in state and local prisons. This costs taxpayers an estimated $18 billion each year. More than two thirds of the states are facing serious overcrowding problems, and many are operating at least 50 percent over capacity. Cost comparisons between private and government operation of prisons show frequent cost savings under private management. While the national average cost to hold a prisoner in a government run prison is $40 per inmate a day, many privately run prisons charge the governments on average lower fees. U.S. Corrections Corporation (USCC), a private company headquartered in Louisville charges Kentucky charges a daily fee of $25 per inmate. In their first year of operation in...

Gender Inequalities In The Criminal Justice System

...This Private prison was implemented by the Bush administration in hope to investigate further the perpetrators of the twin tower attacks. Guantanamo Bay is still fully functional and prisoners who by the way, haven’t been proved guilty of convicting a crime. Our criminal justice system continues to detain someone indefinitely without the right to counsel which is a breach of the Fifth Amendment due process clause and is being held solely on the assumption these people are enemy combatants. These private prisons are unconstitutional which carry out illegal interviews as well as using extreme torture methods that most people would find inhumane. Some methods would be simply to put someone in solitary confinement for years with nothing to sleep on but the cold concrete floor. The Bush administration knew unconstitutional rights would be violated which is why the government chose Cuba to host Guantanamo so the United States wouldn’t have sovereignty, therefore meaning they could carry out these illegal...
