The story of Guadalupe Quintanilla entitled The Professor is a dropout discusses the challenges she faced on her journey to success. The story describes the hardships she had to endure while growing up and because she was a woman. During her childhood she tested and was labeled retarded, having an IQ of sixty-four. This number followed her for years, this test score meant that she was not teachable. In fact, many of her teachers handled her as if she were an infant. At the age of twelve she was placed into a classroom with first grade students and where she was constantly ridiculed by them because she was older.
