The Pros And Cons Of A Free Market In America

The American Government is clearly in the control of big corporations by the means of upward redistribution. In the past, I’ve been very skeptical of a free market. However, reading more articles about Wall Street and corporations has made me realize that the pros of a free market outweigh the cons. A free market in America would abolish monopolies and therefore completely solve the current problem we have in the United States. The well-being of the economy relies on decisions of big corporations that do not have the best intentions of Americans in mind. It worries me that the majority of the American population are unaware that the American Market is entirely rigged. I think that informing the population of big corporations raising prices

Gun Control in America

...Cons of Gun Outlaw in the United States Sarah Chadwick, Maria Escalante, Aubrey Ballard, Jonathan Mcwilliams, Royal Delahoussaye, Andrew Urey, Stacon Boisse BCOM/275 February 12, 2013 Joseph Scott University of Phoenix Cons of Gun Outlaw in the United States I hate guns. Should an argument be made over a hate statement or should the right to bear arms hold to be as valuable as gold. The introduction of gun control laws can be an effective way to make the streets of America safe again but on the other hand this can also make law-abiding citizens become vulnerable for those whom have illegal possession of fire arms. Firearms, for the most part, are big business in the United States. Manufacturing firearms and ammunition have helped drive the economy for decades. The threat of banning some firearms has created the price of the AR15 assault riffle to sky rocket; so even the thought of not having a gun is big business. Fire arm sells increase with a bad economy because people feel they need protection from people becoming desperate (Thurman,R., 2009). Gun control is a sensitive subject in any country, in any neighborhood, or any civilized establishment. In America alone, about 80 million people representing half of the U.S. homes, own more than 223 million guns. And politically, 60% of Democrats and 30% of Republicans favor stronger gun owner laws (White, 2013). Gun rights are granted by the Second Amendment, which reads: “A well regulated Militia...

Nonverbal Behavious Cultural Differences in International Business Negotiations

...Nonverbal Behaviours Cultural Differences in International Business Negotiations Nonverbal Behaviours Cultural Differences in International Business Negotiations Globalization embraces the free-market system which is driven by policies to allow the integration of markets in the global economy. By reducing trade barriers, it has promoted free trade - encouraging competition to spread globally. As a consequence, the global environment of business has become exceedingly challenging as the number of corporations competing in the world marketplace rise. Conversely, high context cultures, often pertaining to Asian and Arabic languages, are heavily dependent on nonverbal and situational cues. These differences in culture can lead to misunderstandings during international business negotiations, so it is imperative that all members involved are familiar and sensitive to the culture of the other party. A key component of successful international negotiation is...

Nafta

...In January 1994 there was a new development; the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was instituted between the United States, Mexico, and Canada creating the largest free trade area and richest market in the world. This one of the most important and wide-reaching treaties in the world. A treaty between Canada, Mexico, and the United States that was designed to foster greater trade between the three countries. It was one of interesting prospect and looked upon as the start of globalization. The attempt was to help with financial situations involving the all countries in the North American continent, especially those of United States, Mexico, and Canada. One major problem encountered were the economic stabilities of each country, especially in Mexico. There were issues of foreign debt, balance of payment problems, and exchange rate fluctuations. The agreement does well to commit to standards on environmental protection and labor laws but still strives to enforce those laws. The agreement did have some goals to help foster the partnerships between the countries. First and foremost to reduce trade barriers. These barriers cause imports to be of a higher priced than local goods. The object of the agreement was to participate in free" or "open" when goods and services can move into markets without restrictions, and prices are determined by supply and demand. Nations sometimes erect barriers to this free movement of goods and services, such as quotas limiting the quantity...

Market Revolution

...Book Review Review of John Lauritz Larson’s The Market Revolution in America In his book, The Market Revolution in America: Liberty, Ambition, and the Eclipse of the Common Good, John Lauritz Larson explains the effects of the Market Revolution on Jacksonian America. He goes into detail describing these effects, which makes it a bit difficult to feel out Larson’s intentions, as many of the effects were negative. It is quite easy to see that the book is critical of the market revolution, but there is more to Larson’s point. He explains that the economic changes were a result of the people running the market revolution. These people were present during a time that saw great technological advancements which acted as a catalyst to economic change. These changes that were occurring were entirely new and thus, the people during this time had to adapt to them in stride, which, as Larson points out, wasn’t easy. In his introduction, Larson states that the book explains the “unexpected, overwhelming force of economic changes and the positive aspects that made it difficult for people who experienced the market revolution to know whether they were rising in a privileged class or falling victim to an economic juggernaut.” (Larson, 10) In the first three chapters he discusses the political environment that existed prior to the market revolution, the technological advancements that helped spur the revolution, and how these advancements affected the daily lives of the people living during...

Legalize Weed Proposal

...legalizing marijuana. Though both sides to this discussion have valid arguments, the pros outweigh the cons by a substantial amount. According to norml.org marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America. Federal law prohibits marijuana; anyone found with possession by federal law is punishable by up to one year in jail and a minimum fine of $1,000 for a first conviction. With making this “troubling substance” legal, the government would be able to reduce the national debt and easily reduce the overcrowding of prisons. I am proposing that people take a second to look past the negatives of drugs and focus on a plant that could better the nation. Purpose Marijuana has a negative shame involved by the government and public, but is actually a natural and successful medicine. Recently marijuana arrests have been exceeding the amount of violent crime arrests and punishments. The Marijuana Policy Project counted 872,720 pot-related arrests in the United States in 2007 alone, according to Cato. Enforcing this prohibition has put taxpayers in almost 10 billion dollars of debt annually. I believe that there are definitely more important issues that the government should be focusing on rather than throwing harmless marijuana smokers in jail. Problem or Need According to norml.org marijuana is the third most popular recreational drug in America. Nearly one in eight drug prisoners in America are behind bars for marijuana-related offenses. With marijuana being illegal,...

Druids

...Write a short essay on Druids and similar priests in Europe B.C. In this essay I will compare the druids, so the Celtic religion to the Greek ancient religion. There are similarities but most of the items are differences. Druids were the priests of the Celtic tribe. They had great power because of their spread of belief and for the role they had in the society. First of all, they could go over a ruler. So the druids were acting like judges, advisers, doctors but also as magicians or poets. Druids had ceremonies of mistletoe that involved animal sacrifice it was also a tradition for the Greek tribes. They both thought that their gods need them to pay in some form of a sacrilege. But the druids were also known for the human sacrifice. They strongly believe in the soul that is not dying but it takes another body. This sacrifice it was an act of bravery, of approaching god. Also the druids had this Underworld, were to be found fairies as the guardians. Greek priests were not forming a college of priests like the druids, they were separated. Each priest had his deity to worship and they remain devoted to that only god. “The priest’s role was not that of a rabbi or pastor – he tended not the worshipers but the deity. He would serve only the cult of one deity, and his authority as priest was limited to the cult of that deity. “ As for the rituals, priests would deliver prayers; they had libations all in a religious ceremony. The animal sacrifice was often closed with the analysis...

Should Vaccines Be Required for Children?

...Vaccines Be Required for Children? Terry J. Vervenne DeVry University Should Vaccines Be Required for Children? Shots, inoculations, vaccines, do children need them? This is the issue that needs to be discussed. Why are vaccines a necessity of current times? Even though vaccines may have some side effects, they have saved many lives as everyone already knows. They prevent many types of diseases and stop the spread of others. Just image having to send your children to school that’s filled with other children carrying diseases and viruses. Viruses such as small pox, measles, and mumps that could invade your child’s body which in most circumstances will then be brought home and spread to other family members. Therefore, every child in America needs to be vaccinated before beginning school because vaccines can prevent disease, save lives, and alleviate sick days at school.
