Many adoptions are not happy adoptions, some who are adopted are only adopted for government checks. Those who are adopted as children and are able to make it out of their bad adoption struggle to live a whole life, having their adoptive parents hang over their heads like the sword of Damocles. Adults who want to annul their adoption, should not have to get a petition from the court, biological parents or adoptive parents because these adults were given to these families without their consent and if not happy they should be able to end their adoption. Many assume adoption is always the best option, that adoption is in every child best interest. Some believe that the life of an adoptive human being, no matter the circumstances, is superior

Pros And Cons Of International Adoption

...There are 2 types of adoption, national and international adoption. In this essay I will be defining international adoption and the pros and cons of it. International adoption is when a person or family adopt children out of the country. International adoption fakes strong transnational bonds: It establishes parental ties between an individual or a couple and a child who is a citizen of another country. For some adoptive parents, international adoption gives them a way to expand their families. For others, it fulfills a humanitarian impulse to care for a child who might otherwise face a harsh future. 8 months to one and a half years old are the most popular age range of when the children get adopted. Infants are typically about six months old...

Pros And Cons Of Closed Adoption

...Closed Adoptions When one decides to adopt, they would have to decide if they want their adoption to be confidential, semi-open, or open. There are many benefits to all three types of adoptions but which one is more beneficial is the question. First we need a better understanding of the three types of adoptions. Closed adoption is when neither the birth parents nor the adoptive parents know each other. Generally open adoption is when the birth parents and adoptive parents know identifiable information about each other as well as a contract shared between both parties. Semi-open adoptions include unidentifiable information and contact mediated by the agency. By the end of this research one will have formed their own opinion which...

The Pros And Cons Of Adult Adoption

...Adult adoptees that were born after 1940 usually just assume that all adoptions are closed records. Prior to 1940, most adoptions were open records for adult adoptees seeking their birth parents. Before 1940, adoption was very informal for children. When the Orphan Train was in effect, 150,000 abused and orphaned children were put on a train and sent to farming families in the east coast. This train took place from 1854 to 1929 and continued to send these abandoned children off to work. Around 1850, the first American state laws about adoption were being formed and were all gradually becoming closed. When 1960 came around, 28 of the 48 states at the time had made all adoptions closed unless taken to court. However, in 1990 three states had made adoption records available to get ahold of on demand. In...

Sealed Adoption Records Pros And Cons

...There are debates that sealed adoption records should be made unsealed and to allow interaction between the three parties involved (Baldassi & Cindy 212). Initially, adoption records and data were accessible to individuals affiliated with adoption triangle; however, the revised amendment mandated that adoption records and data be placed off limits (Baldassi & Cindy 212). Professionals and policy makers advocated for confidentiality on grounds of stigma associated with illegitimacy of the child conceived out of wedlock. Current Psychological research establishes that opening sealed records would invigorate the effects of the post surrender stage that range from depression to anxiety in birth mothers (March 409). Also, it would cause post-placement...

Alcohol, Euthanasia, Abortion Etc

...drinking alcohol in public places, with alcohol consumption in the home being mostly unregulated. Some countries also have different age limits for different types of alcoholic drinks. PRO Lowering Drinking Age 18 is the age of adulthood in the United States, and adults should have the right to make their own decisions about alcohol consumption. Turning 18 entails receiving the rights and responsibilities of adulthood to vote, smoke cigarettes, serve on juries, get married, sign contracts, be prosecuted as adults, and join the military - which includes risking one's life. [5] [6] CON Lowering Drinking Age The right to drink should have a higher age of initiation because of the dangers posed by drinking. Many rights in the United States are conferred on citizens at age 21 or older. A person cannot legally purchase a handgun, gamble in a casino (in most states), or adopt a child until age 21, rent a car (for most companies) at age 25, or run for President until age 35. Drinking should be similarly restricted due to the responsibility required to self and others. Abortion

...The Cons of Abortion Abortion need to be the last option of an unwanted pregnancy. When a female become pregnant she must be dependable enough so she does not go through abortion. Abortion has numerous of risks and while performing abortion the supervision should be strict. ...Mike Thiesing Writing Workshop December 1, 2011 Gay Adoption in America How could this be fair? Same sex couples have been struggling to gain rights to adopt. Some have been successful, while others have not. But the question is not how just this issue is to the couple, but how fair it is to the child being adopted. The answer to this question is that it is not fair at all to the child who is adopted by a gay couple. Today, many same sex couples are fighting for the right to be able to adopt a child of their own without any restrictions. There are many people who are for this, but who are equally countered by many people against the issue. So the real question is, should gay couples be able to adopt children? Same sex adoption should not be allowed considering the effects, both physically and psychologically, that it will have on the child adopted. It is often believed that opposite sex relatives and friends can stand in as role models for the children so they can have both a mother and father. However, this is not an affective way of raising a child. According to “The Week” in their article about gay adoption rights, a child must have both a father and mother to have proper role models. An outside role model such as a family friend or relative is not the same as having a mother and father at home. This article also says that fewer male teachers are available as role models, so children of lesbian couples may find it more difficult to find this role model they need...

Harmonization of Accounting Standards

...Harmonization of Accounting Standards Week 2: Harmonization of Accounting Standards - You Decide Dear Mr. Herb, Our Company is facing the issue of whether to adopt IFRS or continue reporting under domestic GAAP. Before making the final decision we need to review and discuss the pros and cons of such a transition. “The use IFRS as a universal financial reporting language is gaining momentum across the globe. Adopting IFRS is going to be very challenging but at the same time could also be rewarding” (индус). Being principles-based, IFRS allows more leeway in how companies can portray their financial performance (news). Moreover, you are right that IFRS will save money. As more companies go global, they won't have to spend money doing two sets of books. The adoption of IFRS will result in better quality of financial reporting due to consistent application of accounting principles and improvement in reliability of financial statements which will finally increase trust and reliance placed by investors and other stakeholders in the Company’s financial statements (indus). IFRS will also make cross-border investments easier. “Better access to and reduction in the cost of capital raised from global capital markets since IFRS are now accepted as a financial reporting framework” (indus). A recent decision by the US Securities and Exchange Commission permits foreign companies listed in the US to present financial statements in accordance with IFRS. This means that such companies...

...Comparing IFRS to GAAP In financial reporting the U.S uses the generally accepted accounting principles, to record and report. The international financial reporting standards have been used in over 110 countries all over the world. The have similarities but are very different in structure as well, the GAAP is rules based and the IFRS is more principle based when it comes to financial reporting. I will cover some of these difference and similarities in this essay. In what ways does the format of a statement of financial position under the IFRS often differ from a balance sheet presented under GAAP? The IFRS does not require that the statement of financial position be put into a specific order, when reporting financial information. However most under companies IFRS will report their assets in reverse order of liquidity. Under the GAAP companies are required, to report all accounts in specific order by liquidity. Do the IFRS and GAAP conceptual frameworks differ in terms of the objective of financial reporting? No the objectives are both the same for the GAAP and IFRS, they have very similar ways of reporting financial information. They both want companies to keep the information they report up to date, and data needs to be reported in an honest manner. All data reported should also be useful, to an investor, creditor, or regulator. When information is reported correctly, companies are abiding by the industry standard set forth.
