...Jin Kim David Fitzpatrick What are the pros and cons of using an employee to build you a custom system? There are various pros and cons of using an employee to build you a custom system. Although an employee may be good in technical areas such as software development, does not mean they know how to produce the most accurate as well as cost efficient systems. On the flip side if you are confident in this employee and know he is able to produce good work you really have nothing to worry about. If an employee built us a system we would be giving all the authority of the system to the employee. This employee would be required to keep track of time punches, labor expenses, etc. An in house employee would give managers quick responses throughout times of operation. A con would be giving the employee the power to make the necessary purchases, as well as putting the burden of the system on his shoulders, such as in cases where the system requires maintenance. This is something you would want to work out with the employee before hand, just so you could make sure the employee is not overspending. You would also want to make sure the employee keeps all receipts in case something went wrong with a component and the software needed some maintenance. As stated in the description time clock manufacturers, and software development companies are offering affordable rates on new products, increasing the number of in house builds. Some cons associated with the new technologies are...

...Ethical issues regarding the use of Performance Enhancing Drugs in Sports In the history of 20th century sports, specifically in the post World War 2 era, there has been an ever increasing use of performance enhancing drugs in all avenues of sport. Sports have become money making machine for both athletes and big business and the “win at all costs” attitude which has permeated itself into all aspects of professional and college level athletics. Winners make money, losers don’t. The temptation of fame, notoriety and million dollar contracts in all venues of sport is a lure for many athletes. Elite professional athletes are worshiped in today’s society. This paper will elaborate on the use of performance enhancing drugs in the sporting world and the associated sports ethical issues. It is a majority belief in all sporting circles that the “true” spirit of sportsmanship does not allow any aspect of performance enhancing drugs. There are several arguments both in favor and against the use of performance enhancing drugs which will be presented and discussed in this paper. While addressing this ethical issue, we need to define the term ethics. Ethics can be defined as the socially accepted norms and values. These norms and values are varied from society to society and are based on culture and tradition. Ethics also could be defined as the unsaid, un-written and understood laws that prevail in a society. Ethics also cover what is right and what is wrong in society and teaches...

...teachingenglish.org.uk/knowledge-database/continuous-assessment Assessment: Continuous Assessment Types of Continuous Assessment Continuous assessment is more likely to be formative, process-oriented, informal, internal, learner-involved, and/or self-referenced in nature. It can take the form of daily work (e.g. essays, quizzes, presentation and participation in class), projects/term papers and practical work (e.g. laboratory work, fieldwork, clinical procedures, drawing practice). Daily work • Pros o This is likely to be the most sustained means of assessment, and in providing relatively prompt feedback, it serves to reinforce or correct learned responses. o It assists in pacing learning. If a course is broken into units, each assessed on completion, students have regular feedback of what they have mastered (and what they need additional work on). o As the most extensive means of assessment, it has a sustained impact on and improves the quality of student learning. • Cons and possible solutions o As it is fairly labour intensive for both students and the teacher, decisions will have to be taken regarding an optimum level. Too many assignments may result in justice not being done to them all. It is probably better to have regular but smaller assignments than large-scale but infrequent ones. Experience indicates that giving students more...

...Athletes as Role Models Learning Team A SOC/105 August 26, 2013 Michelle Gardner Athletes as Role Models The effect of professional athletes has always played a big role in society. Talented, young, charming, women and men smashing world records on the field or court seem to be natural role models for our youth. These athletes and their behaviors and actions are so closely observed and mimicked by the youth it makes you ask the question should they really be considered role models? Athletes throughout history have always been considered role models for young children with a gift for sports. There have been many misdeeds that have occurred that makes us question whether athletes deserve to be considered role models. Conversely, athletes make good role models for several reasons such as promoting physical fitness, educational success, self-confidence, and a strong work ethic. The role of being an athlete is a good goal to reach in itself especially with the obesity epidemic that we are currently having in America. Athletes must have a strong work ethic and devote a large portion of their personal time to training in order to become a professional. Athletes also need to display a high degree of self confidence in order to be successful. With the exception of a very small few most athletes do go to college, and are expected to be successful, which promotes children to seek further education (Williams, 2011 ). A current...

...advancement in technology has allowed mobile phones to perform various functions (Anderson, 2001). A cell phone is a great device, it can be used in education such as downloading educational apps and other educational materials (Anderson, 2001). In this case, there is a debate on whether they should be restricted in schools or they should be allowed as part of reference materials for their learning. Cell phones in classes will always cause distraction when lessons are on session, most of the students will spend most of their time playing games and watching videos instead of concentrating on their study, which leads to poor performance. The use of cell phones in schools leads to cheating. Students will use phones to send answers to questions to their friends, we have had so many cases of students been caught cheating using their cell phones. ...e-Recruiting Jerry Matthews Devry University Fall Quarter 2013 Dr. Julian Hernandez Suggest how HR professionals can use online recruiting to more effectively support recruitment activities while reducing organizational costs. In this age of doing everything online, recruiting is no different. HR has had to adapt just as any other industry. One of the great things about online recruiting is that many of the services are free. HR professionals can utilize what is already at their fingertips like sites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, and Simply Hired. Some career websites however, require that the job posters adhere to strict criteria in order to post on the site. The career website Careerealism.com has the motto “every job is temporary” and that we all should have access to good career coaching (Influential, 2014). Anyone that wants to create a listing must meet the site’s demands for contributing tools, information, and resources to ensure readers get cutting-edge advice to help them with all aspects of career development (Influential, 2014). The website is very well known for providing regularly career tips, newsletters, live webinars and video tutorials all available around-the-clock (Influential, 2014). ...Running head: ACTION INQUIRY RESEARCH PAPER- MERIT PAY Action Inquiry Research Paper- School Finance Jennifer Ponton Grand Canyon EDA 535 July 01, 2012 Action Inquiry Research Paper- School Finance Statement of the Problem This past spring thousands of teachers protested at the Louisiana State Capital to prevent Louisiana lawmakers from passing an educational reform bill proposed by Governor Bobby Jindall that would change the face of public education in Louisiana forever. Many superintendents and school personnel were relieved of their professional responsibilities on the days they protested hoping that they could sway the governor and the lawmakers from passing the bill. The bill was passed even without the support of many educational leaders and lawmakers in Louisiana. The laws passed by Louisiana lawmakers read like a conservative education reformer’s wish list. Teacher tenure in Louisiana after three years of employment was eliminated and replaced with teachers receiving a “highly effective rating for five out of six consecutive years of teaching. Back to back “ineffective rating will result in a teacher being fired. Seniority will no longer be a dominant factor in layoff decisions. In fact most decisions involving teacher employment and pay will now be the responsibility of both the principal and the superintendent of school. Before Governor Jindall’s reform plan it was the responsibility of the local school board. The reform proposed by the governor...

The system was hit and damaged however the damages were repairable at a reasonable cost. Once the damages were assessed the plot was devised to damage the remaining underground wires in order to raise the amount that the insurance company would pay out for the repairs. Antonio Melendez was faced with a very serious ethical dilemma. Before Antonio joined Empress, there were rumors that company successfully defrauded insurance companies and the upper level-management has condoned such practice. No whistle-blowers came out because there were no confidential mechanisms to protect them. Although Antonio knew that Empress has in the past defrauded the insurance company, it was before his arrival and was not sure what he should do. Although there are several different approaches and strategies that can be used to deal with this dilemma there are a few that would be ethically appropriate for the situation. One strategy that would be useful would be using the Individualism approach. By using this approach he will be able to look at and have to decide how to report the situation without incriminating himself. Antonio wants to keep his job however he knows what is going on is ethically wrong and wants no parts of it. ...
