There are many grocery stores that charge regular price if you shop and purchase products without a club card. For one grocery store to charge more than regular price if you do not have a club card is unfair to the customers.

The main reason why it is not fair for the customers without the club card is that they are forced to sign up for the club card and provide personal information if they want to purchase goods at regular price. By giving personal information to the store, they risk having their personal information in the wrong hands. In addition, it is also unfair for club members. They are customers who have provided their personal information to get the card and yet they do not receive any benefits, such as reduced prices from regular

Costco Case Analysis

...Costco is a membership only club warehouse giant that operates globally. Most of its business is concentrated in the United States with its presence in a majority of the states. It is currently having good business figures of 115 Billion dollars in revenue and a net income of 15.3 Billion dollars. The following is a case study of the hurdles faced by the management at Costco during the period of 1998 when they had come up with a new venture of offering services to its customers. Costco’s sales driver is the fact that it sell a bulk of its products at very low margin to its customers. It is able to do so as it has a large inventory at each warehouse and operational costs aren’t very high. Despite having a large inventory, it has a high number of inventory turns at each of its inventories. Such operational efficiency helps them offer products at great prices to its customers. This value offered attracts a lot of small business and general public. Costco’s customers are a good mix of such business and general customers from the public. It operates on an exclusive membership with a member enrollment fee of 40$ during the period of this case (55$ currently). Major revenue generators are food and sundries amounting to about 60% of the sales at Costco. It has a good business model of operating at good efficiency, competitive pricing, commitment to the quality and great employee focus. A combination of all these factors make Costco the most successful club warehouse. Because of its...

... Introduction: In this task I will be evaluating the effectiveness of the use of the marketing techniques in the marketing products, I have Chosen Tesco PLC. The Marketing techniques I am going to analyse and evaluate are Diversification which is a growth strategy, Cutting product lines which is a surviving strategy and Branding. In order to evaluate this effectively I will be judging the effectiveness by weighing up the pros and cons of the techniques used. Diversification is definitely an effective marketing technique for Tesco; this growth strategy has a great impact on Tesco’s profit. Tesco added a total new market to their business which is Tesco Insurance. Tesco’s insurance was very useful for Tesco as it increased Tesco’s profit and income, this turned out excellent because Tesco had already loyal customers who trust Tesco’s products and always shop from there which made it easier for Tesco to get their loyal customers join their insurance. This also improved the economy and communities by creating jobs in the insurance market which gave Tesco even a better public image, even though there was a big amount of risks expected when they added the new market into...

...This is a Customer Relationship Management doc Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Making Business Decisions I: Virtual Customers Dianne Davis Professor Otto Strayer University March 12, 2012 Businesses today face several challenges, the greatest of which is how to present one’s company in a global marketplace and get noticed. In the past, the smallest entrepreneurial companies had to rely on word-of-mouth, costly advertising, and marketing campaigns, and face –to-face networking. Because of social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter virtual worlds can accommodate businesses in the real world. Customer relationships in a virtual world are a delicate matter. The design of a web site is very important for presenting a favorable face to the customer. Similarly, the design of a business in SL is of chief importance. In a world where anything-goes design-wise, how do you want your customer service representatives to appear? The business must present something fantastic, that it could not present in the real world, if it wants to draw visitors into it. Second Life provides a medium for simulating real world interactions online. It has the same benefits as teleconferencing or videoconferences, the ability to assemble many people from all around the world into real-time interactions. NPR’s Science Friday makes great use of this tool, hosting a studio...

...large amount of product to the Wal-Mart Corporation for Wal-Mart to market in all of the organizations stores. Wal-Mart strives in selling the merchandise for a low price but wanting to make a profit in bulk. The benefit about Wal-Mart is that the company can be very beneficial to other patent holders because of how fast Wal-Mart can sell an item once the item enters the company’s doors. Another company that should be explored is Sam’s Club (which is owned by Wal-Mart). Sam’s club on the other hand allows consumers to purchase in bulk for his or her small business. The point that needs to be brought up is that at least half of the profit that Sam’s Club brings in the doors is from small business accounts. Sam’s Club offers bulk refills to candy machines and the ability to even purchase a vendor or candy machine. But, that is just beginning of Sam’s Club sales. “Year to date, Sam’s Club estimates it has identified more than $233 million in savings for Small Business and since the launch of its Small Business Savings Drive last month, Sam’s Club associates have contacted more than 80,000 small businesses to help them identify ways they could be saving” (Sam’s...

...opportunities, especially during times of economic turmoil. This is especially true for Costco, who anticipates crisis and change in the retail industry and with its circular vision finds a way to reinvent and change its distribution channel to maximize its volume and overall efficiency. The industry also continues to evolve by improving their website capabilities and sales, and continuing to deliver low prices along with value to its customers. The retail warehouse store industry is a comprised of three major competitors, Costco Wholesale, Sam’s Club, and BJ’s warehouse. These three are also in competition with a number of other retailers such as Target, Walmart, Dollar general, specialty stores, gas stations, and internet retailers. Stores that specialize in a small number of products and merchandise or a specific type such as Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, Lowe’s, and Home Depot also find themselves taking a piece of the market share. Sam’s Club has many similarities to Costco. It also seeks to provide customers with quality merchandise at low prices. They share similar hours of operation but have slightly lower membership fees. They also have a smaller product selection that...

...2012). Fraud, waste, and abuse are rampant in the food stamp program; therefore, the US government should overhaul the current system utilizing a more efficient biometric pin in chip card system. Tackling problems in the welfare system can be daunting without a clear vision. There are many theories about what changes would be more beneficial. It is evident that fraud in the system causes a great loss. To understand just how the food stamp program can be improved, an understanding of the program must be established. Currently the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) no longer issues out paper “food stamps” but has moved on to a program called Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP (USDA 2012). When a U.S. citizen is enrolled into the SNAP program the local welfare office issues out an Electronic Benefits Transfer card or EBT card. These cards are used as pin activated debit cards which are loaded up monthly with a fixed amount of funds. The benefits holder can then go to a local vendor that accepts the EBT card and they are able to purchase food items that are on a government approved list. When taking a glimpse of this system, it looks fairly simple and forthright but the fact is there are people that use this simplicity to dupe the system. For starters, the EBT card does not have...

...us to buy an item on TV, radio or signs. Or vice versa we try to influence our peers to do something or feel some way. Many times in my life I have been in situations which involve the persuasion of Reciprocation. I’m going to show that we are always inclined to repay another person with a kind gesture. My part time job is babysitting for a family every day after school and occasionally when needed. One of my experience of reciprocation happen last year right before spring break. I was exhausted studying for midterms and working and trying to get my stuff ready for my trip. The last day before my trip the husband handed me my paycheck and a nice envelope with my name on it. I opened the envelope and to my surprise there was a gift card for $60 and a note wishing a safe trip. I was so excited that I gave him a big hug and thanked him several times. By the time I got home I was so overwhelm that I took time and wrote them a thank you note. As we can see in this situation I felt so obligated to repay their kind act by sending them a thank you note even after I already thanked them in person. Their kind gesture triggered a feeling of reciprocation. I also feel an obligation that in the future if they ask me for a favor their chances of me agreeing is much higher Another common form of persuasion is to Ask Large to Get Small. In reality I have been tricked many times...
