Gypsum Research Paper

... Densite (Die Stone) By boiling water in a 30% calcium chloride solution it removes all water and forms fine small particles. It is used when making dental models. This type of gypsum material is the strongest and hardest out of the three. It is also the most accurate gypsum material there is. I will be describing the differences in the use of synthetic products and other gypsum material used in dental labs. I will also be evaluating these products as well saying what’s good and bad about them etc. (M4 and D3) Calcination is a method in which gypsum is heated in order to produce powder. Synthetic Gypsum: It is a chemically engineered gypsum and is a by-product that is made during different manufacturing, chemical and industrial processes. It is similar to natural gypsum in the fact that they share the same chemical compositions (CaSO4.2H2O). It is the purest form of gypsum and different from mined gypsum as it has smaller steadier particle size without costing more money. It uses an exothermic reaction which means heat is present when the reaction is taking place. Uses: It is used on an articulator to support the cast. Pros: If it is made properly it physical and chemical properties can either equal or surpass natural gypsum materials. Like natural gypsum it is non-toxic and safe. It is said to reduce sulphur dioxide emission in the atmosphere by 96%. It is cheaper than mined gypsum and is more readily available. Cons: It is a lot more expensive than natural gypsum product...

Contamination of the pipettes is also possible is someone did not correctly read the pipette labels in previous classes. d) Alterations/Improvements: If this were to be used for testing water, it would be under the assumption that the water is already filtered out and clear enough to see precipitate formation or gas formation. It would not work if the solution was too cloudy or muddy. e) Applications: This testing procedure can be used to test water to check how effective a chemical treatment process was. This testing procedure can detect the presence of carbonate, chloride, chromate, ferric, phosphate, and sulfate ions. Day 3- The Quest for Clean Drink Article Questions 1. Why did the people of India and Bangladesh change from surface water to water from tube wells? People in Bangladesh and India changed from surface water to tube well water because the growing population made the surface water dirty and contaminated due to poor sanitation. 2. What is the source of arsenic found in water from tube wells? There are three species of arsenic in the water, H3AsO3 (arsenite), and H2AsO4-, HAsO4- (arsenates). They are naturally found in the ground, where they normally bind to Fe(OH)3 in a state that is not dangerous. 3. ...Case Study 11 Karley Lapointe Liberty University Abstract C.W. is a patient with a gastrointestinal bleed that produced a duodenal ulcer. This ulcer then produced a bloody diarrhea stool. C.W. Was brought to the emergency room with by his wife for having bloody diarrhea for three days and was presenting signs of weakness and hypotension. C.W. underwent surgery for his gastrointestinal bleed and then was admitted to the hospital for having a fluid volume deficit, due to his diarrhea and bleed. C.W. being volume deficit made his fluid, electrolyte and blood levels become very abnormal. His medication that he was on for prior health history was causing some of his levels to rise and drop. He has a past medical history of cardiovascular problems, which were described and attributed to his current admitting problems. While at the hospital he went into sinus tachycardia and was placed on a Swan-Ganz catheter. One of the main goals for treating C.W. is to control his tachycardia and control his levels. He has some serious cardiovascular conditions that can not be healed but medical professionals, using education and medication , can better his quality of the life he has left. Patient C.W., a 70-year-old male, was admitted to the hospital at 0430 with a 25-X15-mm duodenal ulcer causing a gastrointestinal bleed, which was presented by “ dark red “ bloody diarrhea. Capital Punishment the Right to Kill

...CAPITAL PUNISHMNET: THE RIGHT TO KILL Capital Punishment: The Right to Kill Debra Gonzalez University of Phoenix Axia Capital Punishment: The Right to Kill Capital punishment has been a source of debate since its inception; the public continues to dispute this highly controversial issue. A struggle exists between Americans who are fighting for a safe and secure society and those individuals who want to abolish the death penalty. Capital punishment may be a controversial subject; however, it is a critical issue that must be addressed in today's violent society. Many people can not decide if the death penalty provides the necessary punishment and deterrent effect that is needed for criminals but, capital punishment is an aspect of criminal sentencing that needs to be evaluated. The United States Supreme Court judgment in Furman vs. Georgia in 1972 came to the decision that the death penalty was a violation of the eight amendment because of the inconsistent manner by which it was carried out. However, in the 1970s, 34 states across the nation ratified new legislation on capital punishment that met the standards set by the Supreme Court. The most significant change in the history of death penalty cases transpired when United States legislators and the Congress passed what is now know as the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act .This made a capital punishment sentence possible for various federal crimes. Across this Nation there were approximately...

Issues in the Death Penalty

...Issues In The Death Penalty More than an estimated 18,800 Americans have been executed since the creation of the death penalty dating back to colonial times (University of Alabama). The decision of death for the punishment of a murder in the United States has declined in recent years. In 2009, the number of new death sentences was 112, the lowest level in 30 years. Unfortunately, the U.S. fails to recognize capital punishment as a profound human rights violation and as a frightening abuse of government power. According Capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, is punishment by death for a crime (Capital Punishment). There are both pros and cons to capital punishment, but many people are against it. The innocent people put on death row, the cost, the lack of proven deterrence and discrimination within the system are all reasons capital punishment should be a big concern. The death penalty can be and has been inflicted upon innocent people. Since 1973, over 130 people have been released from death row with evidence of their innocence(DPIC). If 130 people have been proven innocent, there are bound to be more people falsely convicted. In Florida, James Bain spent 35 years behind bars before he was finally freed for a crime he did not commit. How was he freed? He was freed through the help of DNA evidence that was unavailable in 1974 when he was convicted of the crime. Now, Bain is entitled to 1.75 million dollars because Florida has a law that automatically...

The Process of Beer Production

...Introduction Brewing beer is really a very simple process, a unique mix of art and science that consists of a number of key steps. Brewing begins with malted barley that is milled and mixed with hot water to form a mash. During mashing, the malt starches are converted to sugars. The sugar rich water is then strained through the bottom of the mash and is now called wort. The wort then goes to the brew kettle where it is brought to a boil. During this stage, hops are added at different times during the boil for either bitterness or aroma. The wort is then cooled and aerated, and brewers' yeast is added for fermentation. The yeast produces alcohol and carbon dioxide and other byproducts from the sweet wort. After fermentation the "green beer" undergoes maturation. The last step in the brewing process is filtration, and then carbonation. Next the beer is moved to a holding tank where it stays until it is bottled or kegged. For a more detailed description of the brewing process click "Continue." Barley Malt Barley malt is to beer as grapes are to wine. It is ideally suited to brewing for many reasons. Malted barley has a high complement of enzymes for converting its starch supply into simple sugars and contains protein, which is needed for yeast nutrition. Of course, one important element is its flavor. There are two types of barley: six-row and two-row. [pic] Pale Ale Malt Barley Malt Six-row Barley Malt Generally, six-row barley has a higher enzyme content...
