Your best friend has just killed someone and ran away, you take the gun from his pocket. You know they are coming to get him and kill him, what do you do? For over the past years people in America have struggled getting their mind around the idea of euthanasia because of the implications of mercifully letting someone’s life go. The general argument is that people don’t see it as the right way for someone to die. The John Brown Article states, “Brown’s life presents his commitment to racial equality...” (Mintz). This relates back to Curley because he thought like John Brown had. Curley did not like murder, he saw it as a very bad thing anyone could do. So he set out on his own time to chase down who did it, in this case Lennie. “‘I know who done it,’” he cried. “‘That big son-of-a-bitch done it. I know he done it. Why-ever’body else was out there playin’ horseshoes.’” He worked himself into a fury. “‘I’m gonna get him. I’m going for my shotgun. I’ll kill the big-son-of-a-bitch myself. This is left unresolved because of the issue of people believing that the doctors are killing people. It is a very sore subject because some people see it as they should live out their lives no matter what. And others see Euthanasia as a way to end people’s suffering if they are terminally ill. Also some people can see it as killing someone so they don’t have to pay for the care of them in a hospital. They would rather just find a cheap alternative to taking care of them. People should care about this topic because this could be them someday or someone of their loved ones that are very ill asking for nothing more than just to end their pain somehow. And the only way to end their pain is to end their life with Euthanasia. Also this is a fast growing topic in the US. Someday you are going to have to choose if this is the right thing for some people. In the end you are choosing to end someone’s suffering or to let them suffer in their own death bed.
