Leadership Style and Practices – Seven Habits Profile A1a. Seven Habits Profile Reflection In this paper I will reflect on my own leadership practices, starting with the results of my Seven Habits profile. Upon first viewing the results of the seven habits profile, the lowest scores caught my attention first. I saw that section 5, putting things first, was the lowest score at 10 points. I agree with the the seven habits profile, this is my biggest weakness when evaluated on the seven habits criteria. I can admit that sometimes I get lost in my work and forget about the things that really matter and the bigger picture. An article in People Management says that people who follow this habit well “recognize that not doing everything is okay. Evaluate whether your efforts exemplify your desired character values. propel you towards goals, and enrich your roles and relationships.” (Costello) The putting things first category is not my only low category, beginning with the end in mind is the second lowest category on my seven habits profile...

...through each level of maturity and each process. The PCMM describes a system of practices. These practices help a company to create a vision of how to incorporate a system of practices to achieve its workforce objectives and provide the framework to guide implementation of those practices ( ). Each maturity level has three to seven process areas. Each process is a cluster of practices that enhance workforce capability ( ). This paper presents two maturity levels in the PCMM and discusses how an organization can best obtain that level. Identify and discuss some of the actions that the company will need to take to implement the necessary practices. Managed Level Two and Optimizing Level 5 Maturity level two is the managed level. The managed level is where the mangers start to implement basic people management practices (Curtis, Hefley, and Miller, 2010). These practices include staffing, managing performance, and adjusting compensation ( ). The managed level has six processes staffing, communication and coordination, work environment, performance management, training and development, and compensations that must be accomplished before moving onto the next maturity level. To achieve the optimizing level, all the employees in the company if focused on continuously improving his or her capability and the company’s workforce practices. The company will have a participatory culture where all employees show excellence in his or her job. The optimizing level is where the...

...CASE: SEVEN ELEVEN JAPAN Executive Summary I Executive Summary The goal of this case is to analyze how a firm can be successful by structuring its supply chain to support its supply chain strategy. Once Seven-Eleven Japan decided to provide responsiveness by rapid replenishment, it then structured its facilities, inventory, information, and distribution to support this choice. The case also brings up the question of whether the same approach can work in the United States, especially given the greater distances and lower store density. ...What are some different ways that a convenience store supply chain can be responsive? What are some risks in each case? A convenience store can be more responsive by doing exactly what Seven-Eleven Japan is doing; many locations, rapid replenishment, appropriate technology deployment, and an equally responsive supplier (vertical integration for many of their SKUs). The risks associated with this system are the costs coupled with demand uncertainty. If demand patterns change dramatically, or the customer base changes, then Seven-Eleven is left with an operation that is not needed. In Seven-Eleven Japan’s case, multiple operations might be shuttered if an apartment building or large employer shuts down or relocates. 2. Seven-Eleven’s supply chain strategy in Japan can be described as attempting to micro-match supply and demand using rapid replenishment. What are some risks associated with this choice? Micro-matching supply and demand using rapid replenishment assumes that each store will repeat the same demand pattern on a daily basis. The tour bus phenomenon, where a group of unanticipated customers comes to the store and buys all of a type of product will cause difficulty for regular customers. During such an event, the store will likely stock out and customers may visit the next Seven-Eleven site down the block to make their purchases. Some of this demand may permanently shift, causing a local ripple; the replenishment may be excessive at one site and insufficient at...

...Supply Chain Management Case: Seven-Eleven Japan Co. 1 Responsiveness * In general, a convenience store supply chain has three ways of being responsive: 1.1 In-Store Capacity * Integrating cooking equipment inside the stores will match supply and demand for warm dishes. The process of cooking and assembling the food will be moved after the customer order arrives (i.e. pull process) reacting directly to consumers demand. This shift implies a decentralization of the supply chain hence, requiring higher costs and poorer utilization (i.e. efficiency loss). Furthermore, training costs incur since employees at the stores need to run the machines. 1.2 Local Inventory Keeping stock holdings high at the store also is a way of being responsive and offering a high service level. Although this allows for the centralization of cooking equipment, extra space is needed and the efficiency of the supply chain is contingent on the correct forecast of demand thus, creating idle inventory or even wasted inventory if the products are perishable when demand deviates from the inventory level. 1.3 Rapid Replenishment This approach is used by Seven-Eleven. High delivery frequency sets a high responsiveness at the store but increases delivery costs. Furthermore, it keeps the absolute number of inventory items needed to run the store low (i.e. stores are can be smaller than if local inventory was build up), even though the store capacity usage is high. Rapid replenishment also leads to...

For instance, one cell can develop into an estimated 86 billion neural cells in forty weeks (lecture seven, 2016). Furthermore, the weight of the brain increases from being 4% of its adult weight five months after conception, to 25% at birth, 67% at age one, 90% at age five and 100% at age sixteen; although many internal changes continue through the early to mid-twenties (lecture seven, 2016; Spreen, Risser, & Egdell, 1995). It is thought that these significant changes in weight are due to the increase of glial cells, which have many functions such as in aiding neural transmission....

...The domain name info is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) in the Domain Name System (DNS) of the Internet. The name is derived from information indicating that the domain is intended for informative Internet resources, although registration requirements do not prescribe any theme orientation. The info TLD was a response to ICANN's highly publicized announcement[citation needed], in late 2000, of a phased release of seven new generic top-level domains. The event was the first addition of major gTLDs since the Domain Name System was developed in the 1980s. The seven new gTLDs, selected from over 180 proposals, were meant in part to take the pressure off the com domain.[1] The info domain has been the most successful of the seven new domain names, with over 5.2 million domain names in the registry as of April 2008. After the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of New York switched to the easier to remember mta.info website to lead users to latest information on schedules and route changes on the area's transportation services. Even in 2013, a website, Current Score info, was formed to provide current score of Football and Cricket across India. ICANN and Afilias have also sealed an agreement for country names to be reserved by ICANN under resolution 01.92.[2] info is an unrestricted domain, meaning that anyone can obtain a second-level domain under info for any purpose, similar to the com, net or org domains. This is in contrast...

...Course: Logistics and Supply Chain Management Prof. Dr. Stephan M. Wagner Seven-Eleven Japan Co. 1) Demand uncertainty – Demand uncertainty means your business has difficulty accurately predicting customer demand in the future. This poses a significant challenge because it makes inventory hard to control and manage. Using technology to monitor sales over time can help offset demand that fluctuates from one period to the next. In the Seven Eleven case the company implied demand uncertainty can be categorized as high, due to the nature of the customer needs and product properties. Customer needs: customer is usually in a hurry making an urgency-buy, he has a low tolerance for response time, requires high product availability & high service level. The range of quantity demanded can also be high due to unexpected events, e.g. super ball game increasing the demand for beer, chips and commercial. These customer needs causes a high implied demand uncertainty. Products properties: middle range of products (3000SKUs) 60% of total sales at each store are processed and fast foods, 50% changes in the course of a year due to seasonal demand & new products. Local preferences are important and vary, different consumption patterns throughout the day, stores have limited shelf space and little buffer inventory (limited store size) Seven Eleven supply uncertainty is medium to high. Supply uncertainty is increased due to: high diversity of products,...

...pinscher Service policy restricting the intake age limit of five for rescues. The current policy is in effect from a time in the past when money was tight and vet bills were high. The proposal highlights three possible courses of action including maintaining the status quo, changing the limit to seven years and replacing the age limit with a percentage based system to identify how many seniors can be taken in. The author identifies multiple ideas that can be used to bring the veterinary costs down while at the same time allowing more dogs to be rescued. Of the three Courses of Action, only one works today, which is the increase to seven, but there is a way forward highlighted that could eventually result in a removal of the age limit and conversion to a percentage based senior intake system. ...In 2013, the fire department received a total of eight thousand two hundred and sixty calls. If they took over the ambulance service then their call volume will increase greatly. On top of that the volunteer departments around the area do not have their own ambulance, a majority are also not trained at a higher level than a First Responder. The most they can really do is provide basic first aid and allow members who have a larger scope of practice to handle the situation and assist them in areas inside their scope of practice or do what they can until the ambulance arrives on scene and the Paramedics take over. They rely on Decatur Ambulance service. Quick response times are especially important in stroke, heart attack and trauma cases. There is no guarantee that there would be an ambulance close enough or available to reach these small towns in an emergency. The increase in call volume has the potential to cause issues within the city. If one station receives a transfer to a hospital out of town, who will cover their station until they are able to return...
