SPA MARKETING STRATEGY

The busy, fast-paced lifestyles that people lead make spa services a welcome break. Spa business owners should develop marketing strategies that speak in a compelling way to target customers to encourage them to consider spa treatments as a “must do” versus a luxury. Owners and operators must build creative marketing concepts and maximize opportunities to get product suppliers to participate in advertising, special events and promotions to increase revenue for the spa and for product suppliers.

1. Conduct a Competitive Analysis * Identify services, pricing and other attributes offered by competitors. Assess how you can structure your business to capitalize on areas for improvement and voids in customer services. Expand your hours if a competitor is open only during limited hours. Lower prices to drive customers to try your business. Offer lower- or high-end priced products that others don’t carry. Carve out a competitive point-of-difference to make your spa preferred.
Identify Strongest Target Customers * Get marketing statistics from the chamber of commerce to analyze the demographic information regarding the average age, income, marital status and more of people in the area. Overall, women tend to be the heaviest user of spa facilities. Spas located in urban and downtown areas might focus on targeting single women as primary targets who would want to visit a spa after work. Businesses located close to shopping malls might lean towards women who are married and homeowners and need a location that is closer to their home for services after work.
Develop Creative Incentives * Partner with nearby beauty and barbershops. Develop partnerships to share in advertising and marketing campaigns. Work with barbershops to offer men a discount on haircuts while their wives or female partners get a spa treatment. Use off-peak hours on weekdays or even Sundays to offer mother and daughter spa treatments. Talk with human resources departments at companies nearby to develop an employee rewards program for a spa treatment.
Incorporate a Loyalty and Referral Program * Customer retention will be a major goal to establish the business in the marketplace. Develop strategies and programs to build a sustainable base of loyal, repeat customers and referrals. Provide discounts and allow customers to earn points towards free products and services. Give extra points for every customer that they refer for a spa visit. Train staff members on the importance of promoting the loyalty and referral programs with every client they serve.
Explore At-Home Services * Today’s busy moms and dads might want to come to the spa but not have time to do so. Consider including at-home services. Think about developing fun concepts for husbands and wives, birthday parties and more. At-home services can also provide a means for employees to earn additional income and will make the spa more competitive in the services it provides.
Customer Relationship Management * Develop programs that provide customized attention for patrons and the opportunity to capture important data. Structure a customer relationship management program that includes customers' names, types of treatments they prefer, products and the time of day that is most convenient for services. Use the data and feedback to assess services, products and to develop strategic business-building opportunities.

...men and women.[1] Other variations of this type of business include hair salons and spas. Specialized beauty salons known as nail salons offer treatments such asmanicures and pedicures for the nails. A manicure is a treatment for the hands, incorporating the fingernails and cuticles and often involving the application of nail polish, while a pedicure involves treatment of the feet, incorporating the toenails and the softening or removal of calluses. ------------------------------------------------- Institut De Beauté or Spa salon[edit] The term Institut De Beauté or Spa salon refers to a beauty center where professional skin care treatments like facials...

Feasibility Study of Thermae Spa

...CHAPTER I: HISTORY OF SPA Getting enough sleep after a tiring day is sometimes not enough to give glow and fullness to your physical well-being. If you are the workaholic type of person, then take this as an advice – you need more than sleep and right diet. Undergoing a spa treatment at least once a week can give you a relaxed feeling and it can also give you mental comfort. But what is a spa anyway? Spa is a treatment that’s more close to a water treatment or balneotherapy (bath treatment). If you will notice, most of spa houses and resorts also offer health remedies and treatments. There are also various types of spa, depending on the health benefits it gives. Here are some of the known spas: Ayurvedic spa, Club spa, Cruise Ship spa, Day spa, Dental spa, Garden spa, and Medical spa and Mineral Springs spa. The use of spa treatment dates back in the pre historic -times, when people had to travel in hot or cold springs, hoping to be cured on certain ailments. There was a case that Bronze Age weapons and offerings were found in hot springs in countries France and Czech Republic. Romans, Native Americans, Egyptians, Persians and Babylonians even believe that spa is one way to one’s physical and spiritual sanctification. Ritual ceremonies and bathing rituals are done in a spring or well. While in Greek and Roman times, spa has been well-known for relaxation and personal hygiene. Observation Essay

...Coretta Holley September 17, 2010 ENG- 105 English Compositions I August 16, 2010 (O103) Anita Riehm A Day at the Hair Salon The day is Saturday, immediately I recognized that things were different as I struggled to find a parking spot in the tiny lot hidden just off the highway. The Hair Salon is located in an area to small too be considered a strip mall, and apparently too small to handle all of its clients cars. It is the third in a row of three shops, although the first is a former ice cream shop, the second a coffee and doughnut shop which was for rent. I knew all the drivers of the automobiles in the lot were in the Hair Salon, as the car wash across the street did not open until 9 a.m. Every Saturday morning here begins with a full parking lot. Once I found a parking spot, I was ready to begin my observation of Final Faze Barber & Beauty Salon, which specializes in all your hair care needs. I walked in to the Hair Salon looking for a corner seat. Air coming through the open door chilled the shop interior, which was filled with customers just fifteen minutes after the shop opened. The stares from those already seated in the shop’s red plastic chairs along the wall in the seating area, as well as from those in the stylist chair getting haircuts. As you wait for your turn in the stylist black chair you can look at hair magazines, read books, watch television, gossip on the hot topic for the day, and catch up on current events. ...SWOT Analysis * Human Resources- Staffs Strengths: La Belleza Salon and Spa salon has 9 staffs. This indicates that the salon is not that big compared to known salons like Bench Fix, Davids’ salon and other salons who has branches in different cities. With this, having only 9 staffs is easy to manage and to communicate with staffs and the manager. The salaries expense is not that big as well because the salon has few staffs. Weaknesses: For the information that the market of the salon to where it is located consists of 8,000 residences living in that subdivision. Therefore, the salon doesn’t have enough staffs to handle with the market people they have. They will have hard time handling the customers especially when customers are coming in and out continuously. The customers won’t be patient enough to wait for their turn since the salon is new. * Physical Resources- Location Strengths: La Belleza Nail and Spa salon is new, so basically their equipments are also new. The furnitures and the interior of the salon are fresh so people would love to visit and try their services. Renovation is not needed. The salon is located inside a mall in village, we can tell that the rent expense would not cost much compared if they have their own establishment. Weaknesses: The salon is located inside the mall of the subdivision, so basically homeowners and residents are the one who will visit and be able to see the salon. The market people are 8,000...
