2.) The event that interested me was when the Golden State Limited from Phoenix, Arizona pulled into Los Angeles' Union Station. The passengers alighted from the train and collected their baggage.All of the baggage is claimed save for two trunks. Baggage handler, George Brooker, checked out the trunks. On closer inspection he was struck by an odor remanating from the trunks and he also noticed a dark liquid oozing down the sides which appeared to be blood. Thinking a hunter was trying to smuggle his kill past customs he reported his suspicions to the baggage agent
3.) The major theme of this book was suspense The Trunk Murderess" tells the story of Winnie Judd, a 26-year-old woman living in Phoenix. Judd was accused in 1931 of murdering her two best girlfriends and taking their remains in a trunk as she tried to escape to Los Angeles by train. She seems very unfriendly especially now that she had killed her two bestfriends.

In one of the most sensational cases of the 1930s, Judd was accused of killing two women with whom she had previously shared an apartment in Phoenix, hacking up one of the bodies and taking all the remains in two trunks and a suitcase to L.A., where they were discovered. She confessed to various acts in connection with the murders, was found guilty and sentenced to die; on the eve of her execution she was judged insane, and she spent the years from 1932 to 1971 in confinement, escaping seven times but always being recaptured. Even at the time of her arrest and trial there were doubts that the petite, slight defendant had acted alone-doctors had quickly deduced that the hacked-up corpse had been dismembered with a surgical skill she did not possess-but the identity of her lover, a prominent businessman, Happy Jack Halloran, was kept out of the trial and the local papers. Phoenix-based journalist Bommersbach skillfully recaps the entire story, including suppression of evidence by the police, an inept courtroom defense and a vindictive juror. Those interested in women's causes will want to read her account, as will Arizona residents although the portrait of 1930s Phoenix as the center of hypocrisy in the Southwest is unflattering.
5.) I would recommend this book to almost anyone! I really liked it and was a really good book that you will not be able to put it down! Since I got the book I could not put it down it was just a very good book and I’m sure anyone would like it. It probably would be more suitable to older people not for people who are young because it’s kind of graphic I think. Overall I loved how you could picture everything in your head. And you can see how life differs from 80 years old.
