The Shakespearean play “the taming of the shrew” uses a series of comedic devices to further advance the plot as both odd and comical situations are applied to show Katharina’s objection to marriage, The manipulation of Christopher sly in order to convince him that he is a lord, and the female disguises used against him which would later lead to the taming of the shrew. Also in order to fully advance the plot Shakespeare used Disguises/ confused gender roles, clever language, family drama, and mistaken identity in order to further the plot and create the comedic undertones that shape the play and the events that revolve around it.
