...everyone’s' life and one should always be ready to accept the coming in the way. Being open to changes is a great benefit as sometimes "What You Wants Turns Out to be Not What You Wanted". In such cases in spite of having complaining attitude lets welcome the new changes in life. Don't regret from past. Learn from it and become more vigilant in making a choice in future. In this Agile world, most people have fear from change, not in the sense that change is negative, but because it is unknown. Therefore, the comfort zones that have been established will no longer be applicable. In personal or professional life try to be the best version of yourself. For example people you thought were going to be there forever aren't there anymore. It does not means that people change. It’s just that there role changes according to time or situation. As quoted by Mahatma Buddha “ Everything changes, nothing remains without change”. Life is just like weather sometimes too bad to resist and sometimes pleasant to enjoy. If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Don't be afraid of changes, you may lose something good but probably end up gaining something much better. It is true. The only constant in life is change. From the day that we are born we em-barque on the journey of endless change, better known as the journey of life. Our lives are one big cycle with a beginning and end-point, sub-divided into many smaller phases. Each phase is further sub-divided...

...Sussman 1 Adam Sussman HZT4U Ms. Efimov May 25, 2014 V for Vendetta Reflection Throughout the film V for Vendetta, V shows the audience his cleaver and insightful ways on how he plans to heal the damaged society. As V takes on the totalitarianism society run by the British Government, he displays to Kant’s theories that he is the opposite. Although his morals might be in the right place, he continuously uses others to meet the ends of his own means, which directly goes against Kant’s categorical imperative. Along with this, V’s revenge seeking mission goes against another maxim Kant put on his categorical imperative. This is the ‘universality’ maxim. If everyone were doing what V was doing the entire time, many more people would have been killed as well as they are would be no conflict in the first place. What the ‘party’ or the government of Great Britain has been doing the entire time would have never have occurred if they were all fighting the party like V was. V goes against every bit of Kant’s categorical imperative and justifies his own ends through other peoples will. V doesn’t force anyone to do anything in V for Vendetta but rather offers him or her a question of joining or opposing his ways. Sussman 2 As the film progresses, V just shows us how much he actually opposes the guidelines of Kant’s first maxim in his theory of the categorical imperative. The first maxim being universality, V shows the audience that he is the only one who can be doing this and no one else would...

...box office hit movie making, it is not uncommon to come across films adapted from popular literature. Taking a story that is popular and well-known is a formula for a successful film, as long as it is done the right way. The Coen Brothers, famous for successful films such as “Fargo” and “The Big Lebowski,” made a movie together entitled “O Brother, Where Art Thou.” This film, while unique in its setting and a little bit different in the plot, is clearly an adaptation of the ancient classic poem “The Odyssey” by the poet Homer. Even a review by the renowned film critic Roger Ebert states: “O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a Homeric journey through Mississippi during the Depression (Ebert, Roger 2000).” The film itself depicts the obstacles and fate of a man during the Great Depression who escapes from jail and whose only goal is to make it back home. The struggles he and his fellow escapees meet along the way are strikingly similar to the perils that face Odysseus and his men on their mission to get back to Ithaca. Also, the character references in the film that parallel the characters in the epic poem are abundant. The film is almost a modern homage to the ancient poem in all the different ways it emulates “The Odyssey.” To fully understand all of the different ways the film relates to the poem, it is important to establish the character comparisons between the two works. The protagonist of the film, Ulysses Everett McGill is the movie’s equivalent to Odysseus, the hero and king...

Scott Fitzgerald describes Gatsby’s life in a number of interesting ways, including through the use of symbolism. The most significant symbol in The Great Gatsby is the green light that is at the end of Daisy’s dock, which symbolizes Gatsby’s hope, Daisy. The green light is shown consecutively throughout the entire novel, beginning, middle, and end. This is shown in the beginning when Nick first sees Gatsby and the green light. ...physician assisted suicide is and what the long term effects could be of legalizing it in all fifty (50) states, one would need to ask if a physician should be given the right to administer a lethal dose of medication to a patient with the sole intent of ending said patient’s life? In 2006 the United States Supreme Court held in “Gonzalez v. Oregon (2006) that the Federal Controlled Substances Act does not allow the U.S. Attorney General to prohibit doctors from prescribing regulated drugs for use in PAS (Physician Assisted Suicide)” (Gloth, n.d.). There are many people that feel as if there is nothing morally wrong or right with “killing” or “allowing” someone to die so to speak, by way of a lethal dose of medication or injection. Physician assisted suicide is a means to bring an end to a terminally or chronically ill patient’s life by administering some form of medication either by injection or by mouth. While this could be considered one of the most pain free options, it is still not a viable reason to commit suicide. A Utilitarian would argue that by doing what causes the greatest happiness to a person should be done. When looking at physician assisted suicide from this view it is easily understood that PAS (Physician Assisted Suicide) is a means to an end, an end of a life. By forcing an end to the pain that riddles their body daily would cause the greatest good for that person, and the way to reach this sense of relief is by choosing to have a physician give them a lethal dosage...

...live, and ways to end suffering. Siddhartha Gautama, the name of the Buddha who had preached and taught about the Four Noble Truths had experienced, and observed all suffering, and only let out these truths after he had reached his own enlightenment. Buddha said that all people, even if they were rich or poor, have suffered. He says they have suffered because of pains and afflictions, or traveling from endless rebirths/reincarnations. All from the greedy desires of mankind. The Buddha gave a solution to end the suffering, an answer to stop the countless rebirths, and a halt to their selfish wants, and once they have been lifted, they will learn the true meaning of the Four Noble Truths. Each of these lessons explains the Buddhist steps in understanding the truth about life, the reasons behind those truths, the possibility of change and the way of life that can lead to a life free of suffering. All Buddhists study, meditate, think and act in ways that are designed to help them come to a full understanding of each of these Four Noble Truths and to stay on the path the Buddha says will lead them to peace and happiness. The Four Noble Truths are: • The truth of dahkka • The truth of the cause of dahkka • The truth of the cessation of duhkka • The truth of the path leading to the cessation of duhkka Dahkka means suffering, a more modern translation of the Four Noble Truths is, • The truth of suffering • The truth of the cause of suffering • The truth of the end of...

...unhappiness in love. The poem is a dialogue between two characters, one who is asking questions and a wiser voice who answers all these questions in a sure and convincing manor. The title alone warns us of a struggle to come, an uphill challenge faced by the persona who turns to the wiser character for answers. “Does the road wind uphill all the way? Yes, to the very end.” This uphill struggle is an embodiment of obstacles that one must overcome in ones lifetime. The questions seem to come from a traveller, we can tell this from the nature of the questions, also from the fact that they are being asked we already get the idea that the second character who answers her is wiser. This is then emphasized by the sureness of the answer completely absent of doubt or hesitation. The persona finds comfort and reassurance in these straight forward answers, this could be because Rossetti lived at a time were such answers to difficult questions were a rarity. This is all supported in the question and answer: “Will the day’s journey take the whole long day?” “From morn to the night, my friend.” Here we have an answer that is reasonable yet difficult to answer, and yet we are given the simple straight forward answer, ending in the encouraging phrase “My friend”. If one takes the poem so far spiritually then day is now representing life and night represents the end, death. “A roof for when the slow dark hours begin” to show us that we slow down at night so we search for...

...Human trafficking over the years has gotten progressively worse and worse in the United States, and it needs to end now. Human trafficking is when somebody gets abducted and they get sold to people for money. When this does happen to people it doesn’t just affect them, but it affects their friends, family, and their community. They get sold to people and are treated like an animal. They are not fed right, and some even get drugged to do stuff against their own will. This issue is happening everywhere in the world, but especially in the United States. Human Trafficking happens every day, and everywhere. For example some people have got abducted by walking to and from school. Human Trafficking is generally a crime against persons, violating their human and labor rights in the process. (Vanessa, 2015) Sometimes even when you are just walking to get your mail. It could happen anytime and anywhere and it happens so fast that you wouldn’t even know what happened to you. Human Trafficking is the second most profitable criminal enterprise for transnational organized crime groups. (Vanessa, 2015)Sadly, by the times someone would notice that you were missing you could...
