“Do you think the old man Westing’s up there?” said Turtle, “Naw” said Sandy (Raskin p.7), if only they knew what was going to happen. The Westing Game is a crazy mystery with a lot of turning points, red herrings, and overall surprises. The Westing Game is like the time when the Westing house blew up because anything can change in a second and a lot is happening at once. The reader always needs to be aware of the place in the story for both the book and the movie because there is always a twist right around the corner. The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin keeps the reader entertained throughout the whole story while also keeping the reader in shock waiting to discover what will happen next. The Westing Game novel and movie contain many similarities and differences between them that are worth explaining. In The Westing Game book and the movie, there are many …show more content…
In the movie, D.Denton Deere, Madame Hoo, Theo Theodorakis, and Flora Baumbach weren’t main characters, as they were in the book. Also James Hoo is the inventor in the book, while Otis Amber is the inventor in the movie. Finally, Grace Wexler treats her daughters (Turtle and Angela) equally in the movie. On the other hand, , Grace treats Angela much better than Turtle, and loves Angela a lot more in the book. There are also many differences in the setting for the book and the movie. For example, in the movie, the Westing house is right next to Sunset Towers and not on Lake Michigan. On the other hand, in the book, the Westing house is on a hill and is located on Lake Michigan. Also in the novel, Sunset Towers is more luxurious and made out of all glass. But, in the movie, Sunset Towers is more rundown and is made out of all brick and stone.
