Have you ever been so close to killing that fly that has sported in buzzing about your head for the past hour, and yet you miss? The wicked Irena Sendler was that fly plus three of its buddies. Guilty of treason and defying the government, Sendler was shown mercy to be questioned by a styled Polish man concerning her colleagues before she was to be put to death. She refused to accept such an offer of mercy, so she was sentenced to be executed by a shooting. Unfortunately, members of her squadron bribed the executioner to help her escape as she was being led away to be executed. This information being unknown to us, we rejoiced in her death. But…show more content… There were people who told the Gestapo of Sendler’s acts. They arrested her and took her to Pawiak prison. Questions and beatings bombarded her. Her legs and feet were fractured in torture for this information. Sendler splattered out a false story that Zegota had created in case a situation as such would come up. She received the death sentence and was to be shot.
At the very last minute, Zegota bribed the executioner and he helped Sendler escape. The next day the news of Irena Sendler’s death was openly published. She herself read her own execution papers posted around the city as she went into hiding. Hiding just as she helped others camouflage into life.
Irena Sendler was a heroine beyond compare. She saved thousands of children’s lives by risking her own every day. Not only this, but she was questioned, beaten, and tortured for information that only she knew. Despite all of these trials, her spirit never dampened and she held hope fast to her heart. As one of the few who had the courage and a strong heart she stepped up to do the right thing. Let us all remember the heroine Irena
