A group in our society that is disadvantaged would be minority groups. Minority Hispanic and African American are the largest opposition group in the U.S. I believe that they do have it harder then others due to the fact they are kids that are not mentally strong. However , according to Greene (2001) report that 54 percent of Hispanics students graduate high school and only slightly higher percent of African Americans, 56 percent complete high school. Also, Hispanic and black students are likely to dropout of school than white students. Poverty plays a huge roll for both ethnic groups. Hispanic students are likely to lack of English proficiency due to the fact they are use to speaking their own language. Most Hispanic household can not speak English. I know this because my mom cant speak English well. Basically, I grew up speaking Spanish and English both at the same time. I would speak Spanish at home and then English in school. Most Hispanic minority have a problem speaking the language due to the fact education was not introduce. African American Minority tend to be influence my violence in their community, However, that can happen in any community. Gangs also affects minority decision making, murder, and robbery to occur. Students feel as though school is pointless because they are having financial problem at home. Those are the two main reason why African American students are dropping out of school. The struggle these children face at a early age is very tough and stressful. Hispanic and African American both face Poverty issues in the U.S. Many families are not working or not making enough to maintain a household. Most parents in both race had it extremely harder than minority.
