In the book The Cay by Theodore Taylor is about a boy named Phillip and a man named Timothy struggling to survive on an island. Families boarded the S.S. Hato that later was blown up by a torpedo. On the raft with Timothy Phillip became blind due to the piece of timber that hit his head. Timothy sails to a small cay and sets up camp (Later thought to be The Devil's Mouth). On this small cay a massive tropical storm comes in and destroys all of their possessions.The storm makes its final loop around the island, and Phillip starts calling out for Timothy. Phillip stumbled over Timothy’s big body and found him dead. About a month later a small boat comes and sees Phillip. He was rescued, got his eyesight back, and reunited with his family.
