Urine Therapy

We look at urine as waste and unsanitary toxins that can cause bodily harm if consumed back into the body. Little that we know that urine has been used for medicine, muscle relaxing treatments, rubbing alcohol, acne treatment, religious purposes, and even something bizarre as consuming it since the beginning of time. So is urine as toxic, disgusting and harmful that we think or is we simply misinterpreting and over reacting to a natural healthy therapeutic solution?
Urine therapy has been around for a long time. The Romans and Spaniards used urine to keep their teeth bright and white. They believe that urine from another man or themselves was rich and kept plaque from building up. Religiously, urine was looked at as oil or pure substances that helped relax and heal the body. An India religious Sanskrit called Damar Tantra “pure water or one’s own urine” and actual named the fluid, Shivambu Kalpa. They believed by applying the natural fluid to wounds, sore body parts, or infected areas, would help prevent any fared infections and heal any wounds. Even the Bible mentions urine therapy! A verse in Proverbs (Proverbs 5:15) advices: “Drink waters from thy own cistern, flowing water from thy own well.” Urine therapy has been mention all too often to not believe that it has some kind of positive effect. Let’s try and look at it from a scientific stand point.
Scientist conducted studies to see if urine therapy method was a phony or factual. In fact, urine showed studies that there are chemicals components contained in urine that have vital nutrients, minerals, vitamins, enzymes, hormones, antibacterial and other components that the body use to function normally. The reason why urine contains numerous of vital compounds is because nutrient-filled blood passes through the liver where toxins are removed to be excreted as solid waste. Eventually, this purified "clean" blood undergoes a filtering process in the kidneys, where excess water, salts, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antibodies, urea, uric acid and other elements not usable at that time by the body are collected in the form of a purified, sterile, watery solution that is urine. The function of the kidneys is to keep the various elements in the blood balanced. The important elements in the blood are not filtered out because they are toxic and harmful to the body, but simply because the body does not need a particular concentration of an element at that specific

point in time. It is this very regulating process of the kidneys that allows us to eat and drink more than our bodies need at any one time.
An example of a compound that helps breakdown proteins is urea. Urea has been found in urine to be antibacterial to bacteria causing urinary tract infections specifically, ingestions have been found to increase these antibacterial to fight the bacteria that harm the body.
Urine and urea have been claimed by some practitioners to have an anti-cancer effect. It has been hypothesized that because some cancer cell antigens are transferred through urine, through "oral auto Urotherapy" these antigens could be introduced to the immune system that might then create antibodies. However, the American Cancer Society's position is that scientific evidence does not support individual claims that urine or urea given in any form is helpful for cancer patients, and that the safety of urine therapy has not been confirmed by scientific studies.
In 1978, the former Prime Minister of India, Morarji Desai, a longtime practitioner of urine therapy, spoke to Dan Rather on 60 Minutes about urine therapy. Desai stated that urine therapy was the perfect medical solution for the millions of Indians who cannot afford medical treatment.
Even professional athletes use urine treatment to enhance skill, nutrition, and recuperation purposes. Major League Baseball player Moisés Alou urinates on his hands to alleviate calluses, which he claims allows him to bat without using batting gloves.
Boxer Juan Manuel Márquez drank his own urine during a filmed training session. He revealed that he believed the practice was of great nutritional benefit aiding his intensive workouts.
To conclude urine therapy, I believe it is a misunderstood subject that individuals outcast because of their lack of knowledge about the particular situation. The lack to understand that urine is not a dirty and toxic substance rejected by the body. Urine is a by-product of blood filtration, not waste filtration. So when re-utilized, the chemicals and nutrients in urine act as natural vaccines, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-carcinogenic agents as well as hormone balancers and allergy relievers. Urine Therapy is very useful and is making a blare appearance in medical and nutritional field. Through congregation of information and scientific studies, urine therapy maybe the cheapest and most valued medicine, vaccine and nutritious substance known to man.

Protein Therapies

...Protein therapeutics was once a seldom-used class of treatment. They have increased dramatically since the first protein therapeutic was introduced, insulin. Protein therapeutics are used across every field of medicine. Even with this much dominance, this class of medical treatment still has to be improved. Protein therapies have many advantages when compared to small molecule drugs. Proteins serve a highly specific and complex set of functions that cannot be reproduced by simple chemical compounds. Protein therapeutics can be broken down into groups based on what they can be used for. Group 1 are therapeutics with enzymatic or regulatory activity, Group II includes proteins therapies with special targeting activity, Group III includes protein vaccines, and Group IV includes protein diagnostics. Protein therapeutics are an integral part of medicine. Currently they have been displaying a decreased stability in storage, decreased efficacy and increased immunogenic side effects in patients. Through an enhanced understanding of proteins we can formulate a therapy that will supersede what is currently in use. Pet Therapy

...tapes were presented to 85 subjects who were all students at the University of Toronto. Two therapists made two different video tapes introducing themselves as psychotherapists and the methods they use in their therapy. One video was of the therapist alone and the other was with them and their pet, in this case a dog. Randomly the subjects watched one of the video tapes and where then asked to fill out questionnaires. Two of the three hypothesis were confirmed; animals do have a positive effect on self-disclosure and the overall ratings of the therapist were higher than those without the dogs present. 2. Three different hypothesis were attempted in this experimental study. Would the therapists with dogs score a higher overall rating without a dog? Would those therapist with dogs elicit a higher level of self-disclosure from participants? Would there be an interaction effect for attitude toward pets? All three of these hypothesis were being tested on the theories that animals have a significant impact on human well-being, that there is a positive outcome on social interaction, and positive outcomes of animals around patients towards their physiological and psychological health. 3. For this study two therapists were asked to introduce themselves and their methods of therapy on video tape. The two therapist, one male and one female, were given thirty minutes to decide what they wanted to say and practice and without script they then produced their “video introduction”. Each did...

Equine Therapy

...Tania Ervin Sandra Tebbe RESC 13 October 2014 Animals as Co-Therapists Using animals as co-therapists' has become a very common therapy method in today's society. Animals such as cats, dogs, and more commonly, horses, have made a huge impact on children, teens, and adults with communication and social issues. Incorporating the use of an animal, for example, showing them how to correctly clean up after an animal and how to properly care for and feed an animal, shows them a sense of responsibility. When a person who has social and communication issues is put in an environment with a horse, who can otherwise sense when something is wrong with their rider, a special bond is created. Within this relationship think of the horse as the therapist and the rider as the patient. As the rider gets more comfortable with the horse, they start to open up more. The horse becomes more of their bestfriend than their "therapist". This shows that using animals as co-therapists' can be helpful in more ways than one. Because horses are such sensitive animals, they require patience, a sense of understanding, and of course care. During the process of teaching a someone how to properly take care of a horse, they learn their feeding schedules, how to pick up and clean up after them, and how to brush and keep up with their coats and manes. For those who are incapable of showing a sense of responsibility, this shows them a somewhat lenient agenda to where they adapt to a consistent pattern...

Bias in Therapy

...Bias in Therapy Grand Canyon University PCN 509 Bias in Therapy As competent counselor’s we learn to treat every client as an individual without bias, however there are instances in which certain therapeutic techniques are bias against certain individuals. There are some techniques which may be more affective in working with certain cultures than others. It is our job to give each of our clients, the most effective treatment possible. In order to do this we need to be aware of treatment approaches which may not produce the most successful outcomes for our clients. I never really thought about a therapeutic approach being bias to certain clients, however I have grown to understand that certain techniques may deliver successful outcomes in certain clients and set other clients up to fail. I found it interesting that some therapeutic are bias to male clients as a whole regardless of culture. Therapy in general is thought of by many as something that women do. Men are more likely to believe that therapy is for people who are weak, and men do not like to be thought of as weak bodied or weak minded. This may not be the fault of men but rather society for creating a bias that therapy is for women. Most therapeutic approaches with the exception of behavioral approaches, and approaches such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) focus on talking and communication, which is often believed to be a weakness for men and strength for women (Golden...

Herbal Therapy

...HERBAL THERAPY Introduction Herbs are plants that have acquired some inherent value to humans. There is a certain power with the use of herbs because it is primarily intended to alleviate and provide quality of health. Three values that I found relevant with this book that I believe will also be beneficial for others to read is its medicinal property and edibility. All plants have the potential to fall into the one or all of these categories. Contrary to popular belief, the study of plants is not a pseudo-science. This belief perpetuates the idea that herbs need not be taken seriously. However, the study of herbs as a science, along with mushrooms and algae can safeguard human wellbeing when utilizing these plants. It is not my intent to promote DXN membership and business opportunities but to share the wealth of knowledge derived from the therapeutic health supplements for human wellness. Defining Herbotherapy Herbotherapy is a broad term used to refer to any type of healthcare treatment using fresh or dried herbs that also includes mushrooms or fungi such as the Ganoderma and the algae Spirulina. It is also known as a "natural" drug because they are derived from nature. This is unlike pharmaceutical drugs, which are synthesized from chemicals. The combination of all these elements from nature provides medicinal value in treating illnesses and diseases.   Herbal medicine dates back more than 4,000 years ago from the healing traditions of the Chinese...

There are usually more personal boundaries in a therapeutic relationship. Clinicians diagnose mental health disorders because they see symptoms of the diagnosis. Most insurance companies require a diagnosis in order to pay for treatment. The main text for the diagnosis is the DSM-V. Self-disclosure can promote immediacy in a counselor-client...

...Examining Physical Therapy in Detail Physical therapy became an existing treatment as early as the 5th century. The earliest documented history of when physical therapy began as both a treatment method but also a career was in the late 1800s, which was when the nurses from England established the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (Eugene Physical Therapy, 2011). For over more than a century and since its development, physical therapy has expanded with multi-faceted treatment regimens, as well as various opportunities for careers in this field. Physical therapists are responsible for a wide array of disabling conditions; some of these conditions include: arthritis, cerebral palsy, fractures, head injuries, etc. With these conditions, the physical therapist would be responsible for restoring function, improving mobility, and allowing the patients to perform daily activities of living with an optimal level of function. According to Dawn Rosenburg McKay (2010), physical therapy has been on demand, in which there were approximately 185,000 jobs taken as physical therapists in 2008. Physical therapists have an option to either work in an actual hospital setting, but they can also work in private offices. Based on the year 2009, McKay states that the median annual income of a physical therapist was at about $75,000 dollars.  The physical therapist that was interviewed is Suanna Wong. She has been working as a physical therapist for 10 years. The questions used in the interview...

Therapy

...The relationship between a counselor and their clients should always remain confidential. The client comes to therapy seeking professional help on very personal and private issues in their lives. Whether it is current or past situations, clients will reveal their emotions and opinions that are so sacred, the counselor will have to uphold a certain ethical precedence. Protecting the client and their information is detrimental. In the ethics scenario with Shannon and Pastor Larry’s voicemail, there seems to be an ethical issue. The pastor has called Shannon with information on a few of her clients. Not only did he know way too much about Andy and Jennifer, he left a recording with information about them on Shannon’s phone. This clearly is an issue of confidentiality. Standard 2.2 of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists Code of Ethics states, “Marriage and family therapists do not disclose client confidences except by written authorization or waiver, or where mandated or permitted by law.” Pastor Larry has no right to any of Shannon’s client information. As a licensed therapist, Shannon is obligated to keep all of her clients’ information confidential. She cannot even confirm that Jennifer and Andy are her clients as this will violate their confidentiality. Shannon should not respond to the pastor’s phone call. As a therapist, she should know that she is unable to discuss case without consent from the client first. Breaching confidentiality can cause a lot...
