The religious life on planet earth as I observe it is that the people of this planet are a very religious group. The people take time out to go to Church to worship God. Church is considered a Holy place (temple) of worship as explained by the people on planet earth. This is a place where they pray and encourage each other spiritually. This is a renewing of their souls. God is a Supreme Being that grants people salvation if they submit themselves to Him. This is said to bring about eternal life. People that believe and have faith in the Holy written words ( the Bible) of God, which is read, meditated on and shared with those that do not know who God is , is considered to be a messenger of God. They are also called Christians. To be a Christian you must be believer and live in God`s word. It was said that because of the deliverance of his people from the power of darkness and the transformation of his people into the kingdom of the Son of His love, we have been redeemed through His blood. All people have been forgiven of all sins. As in the belief of Jesus Christ he is the way of eternal life. The spirit of Christ must dwell in a person to order to be raised to eternal life. And if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ in them they do not belong to Christ. Many believe that it does not matter who you are or where you live, Jesus loves you and died for you. Jesus wants you to love him too. You can show your love to Jesus by

They have to work for us for a certain amount of money, and cook, clean raise our kids, and do the grocery shopping. So really slavery isn’t abolished. Slavery in America began when the first African slaves were brought to the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, to aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco. Slavery was practiced throughout the American colonies in the 17th and 18th centuries, and African-American slaves helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. The invention of the cotton gin in 1793 solidified the central importance of slavery to the South's economy. By the mid-19th century, America's westward expansion, along with a growing abolition movement in the North, would provoke a great debate over slavery that would tear the nation apart in the bloody American Civil War (1861-65). Though the Union victory freed the nation's 4 million slaves, the legacy of slavery continued to influence American history, from the tumultuous years of Reconstruction (1865-77) to the civil rights movement that emerged in the 1960s, a century after emancipation. The old slave owners used to use their christianity as a way to justify the way they treated their slaves saying "god told them to do the things they did". ...“There Is No Such Thing” Sumie Bodden Prof. Stacy Kelly Sociology 100 June 3rd, 2012 African American life in the United States has been framed by migrations, forced and free. A forced migration from Africa the transatlantic slave trade carried black people to the Americas. A second forced migration was the internal slave trade that transported them from the Atlantic coast to the interior of the American South. Then people of all parts of the world entered into the United States, which included people from every generation that were colored skin was considered black, even if they were from an Hispanic background, they were also discriminated against. This really shaped the lives of African Americans in a huge way, there freedom was taken away, and they were left behind to be slaves and discriminated against in circumstances that dehumanized them. They did what they were told without asking any questions. They were also confident that freedom would soon be theirs, and that they would have their own voice, and take their rightful place as people among others. ( Berlin, Ira.). Tradition plays a part in keeping people in slavery because it is the only thing that is known. Many slaves were promised freedom for being a slave for certain set time, but for the most part it was not true. ...There Is No Such Thing as Rest Slavery in the United States began the first African slaves in 1619, when a Dutch trading ship brought twenty Africans to Jamestown, Virginia by a Dutch trading ship. After, more Africans were brought from other ships for labor. Virginia enacted the first law in the new colonies recognizing slavery in 1661 (Sowell, 1981) (Macionis, 2010). Slavery was the foundation of the southern colonies' plantation system. Plantation were operated by white people using slave labor, and many were also slave trader until the year of 1808. About 10 million Africans traded by Europeans, Africans, and North Americans to different countries and some to the United States. On small sailing ships hundreds of slaves were chained together and reward for surviving is lifetime of serving. These events open the door to slavery in the U.S. and wasn't until the year of 1865, that was the Thirteenth Amendment outlawed slavery. ...Change Our Lives Kevin M. Davis Strayer University ENG 090 Writing Fundamental Ms Monica McGoldrick January 12, 2011 When I was a senior in high school, football was my life. I consider myself to be a pretty good defensive player. Georgia Southern College had just opened up their new football program and I wanted to attend there as well as play football for them. However, I did not know the application process of applying to Georgia Southern College or any other higher institution of learning. Instead of me asking for help via my high school counselor, football coach, or my parents, I never pursued my Dream of going to college or playing college football. Therefore, college plans took a backseat in my life and job hunting became my priority after graduating from high school. As I began my job search, my neighborhood peers always talked about pursuing employment as a Longshoreman located at the Georgia Ports Authority in Savannah, Ga. Becoming a Longshoreman was known to many of us in my neighborhood as a good paying job with benefits such as medical/dental insurance, union association protection, workmen’s compensation, etc. I was then sold on becoming a Longshoreman until one day; my father came home and spoke with me about college again. He stated he knew a Lieutenant Colonel at Fort Valley State College who was the head instructor over the ROTC program. My father explained to me the application process of completing the college’s application and returning it to...

Assignment 1: No Such Thing as Rest

...Assignment II: No Such Thing As Rest There is no question that the development of the New World, there was much work to be done. This rise of a new nation required a work force. While the indigenous people of Europe attempted to perform the labor of the land, the plague of diseases from their native home land and the climate killed them off and rendered them incapable of such work and climate conditions. While Slavery had been in existence in the world, prior to the development of the New World, the Triangle Slave opened the doors to the inhumane abuse and degradation of a people in the now, United States. Plantation crops such as sugar, molasses for rum, cotton for textiles and tobacco were transported from the U.S. to Europe for manufacturing. The manufactured goods were taken to Africa and offered in exchange for African men and women. Bound and chained together, the next quest was to the slave houses lined the west coast of Africa. Enslaved African could be housed in any of the dungeons for as long as a year until the journey across the Atlantic took place. what was ahead of them after such treatment. John Winthrop Essay On Pride In America

...2024 American Pride People throughout history in America have always claimed that they were special or better than the rest of the world. They take it upon themselves to share their greatness with the rest of the world, and they take pride in doing so. This idea has been the driving force behind many things that America has done. John Winthrop is one of the earliest writers to show this sentiment, as seen through his preaching to his group going to the new world. This was done before they made the trip to the New World, and it would have been quite well received considering that many people at the time were Christians. John Winthrop played to his audience by using Christianity and hyperbole to make their journey seem...

There is so many horrid things within this layer of Hell and throughout this paper I will argue why I think this is the worst part of Hell. The opening of Canto III starts with bold-capitalized words on a sign at the gates of Hell. This sign is very dark and as Dante says the words are “cruel.” As Dante and Virgil walk past through the gates they enter the place of the rejected souls. Souls of...

...As we all know every country has its own way of doing things; something not taken seriously in one country can be taken completely different in another country. India is a very good example when it comes to cultural differences compared to the rest of the world or as we would compare it to the United States, because that’s how we Americans are. We tend to think anything done other than the American way is the wrong way of doing things and that’s the bottom line. By analyzing Hofstede’s dimensions of cultural differences which include individualism/collectivism, high power distance/low power distance, high uncertainty avoidance/low uncertainty avoidance, masculinity/femininity and long-term orientation/short-term orientation a conclusion can be made that they are by far a very unique nation compared to the rest of the world. India is very much so a collectivists society when it comes to the individualism/ collectivism category. In a collectivist society people tend to belong to tightly knit social framework and rely heavily on extended families, where in individualistic societies people tend to only worry about themselves and their families. For India to be a collectivist society it means that there is a very high preference for belonging to a larger social class, in which you have to act according how your actions benefit the entire class. In a collectivist society individuals are highly influenced by ones family, extended family, neighbors, work group and other such wider...

Augustine Confessions Analysis

...Trinity. All of Augustine's concepts about the Holy Spirit flow from his understanding of the Holy Spirit's role within the Trinity. In fact, the Spirit was so important to Augustine's interpretation that in a later work he calculated the number of times the Spirit appeared in Genesis. Book XIII of the Confessions is particularly important for Augustine's theology of the Holy Spirit, and O'Donnell and Burke have aptly named it the "book of the Spirit." In this book and throughout the Confessions, Augustine emphasizes that the Holy Spirit is a member of the Trinity, particularly within the context of creation: And now I came to recognize, in the name of God, the Father who made all these things, and in the term "the Beginning" to recognize the Son, through whom he made all these things; and since I did believe that my God was the Trinity, I sought still further in his holy Word, and, behold, "Thy Spirit moved over the waters." Thus, see the Trinity, O my God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the Creator of all creation! In this context, Augustine is perusing the text of Genesis 1:2, and, according to O'Donnell, by the phrase "see the Trinity" (ecce trinitas), Augustine sees all three persons of the Trinity finally designated. Augustine's model of the Trinity relies upon previous Aristotelian thought to view the Trinity not as substances, but rather as relating to one another. Though it developed slowly in Augustine's mind, this concept of the Trinity has since formed the...

The Unknown

...NEWSTART What is New Start? 2 Corinthians 5:17 says; "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new." Traditionally we have understood this verse to mean we become a new creature spiritually. This is certainly correct, but if the "old things are passed away," and "all things are become new," doesn't it stand to reason that every area of our lives should be affected by our relationship with Christ? 1 Corinthians 10:31 states: "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." In the minds of many Christians there is a separation made between the spiritual life and the other areas such as: business, finance, physical, and social. God's plan for our lives is that our relationship with Him and our religion will permeate each and every area of our life. God likens our relationship with Him to that of a father and a child. What kind of relationship would we have with our earthly father if we hid certain areas from him; would he be pleased? Likewise our heavenly Father wants to take part in all facets of our life. It's amazing that with all the universe in His keeping, our God is interested in what we are doing today. He wishes to take part in your life and even help with your problems. There is an interesting promise that is made in Deuteronomy 7:15, butfirst we need to understand an important principle in Scripture. In 1 Corinthians chapter ten, the apostle Paul gives us...
