...In the novel “The Dogs of War,” Emory M. Thomas presents a valid argument that once the dogs of war are allowed to run free they turn into erratic and intolerable animals. His outlook describes how certain misunderstandings dominated the way the Union and Confederate states observed one another. Mr. Thomas’s reflection of the war explained how the war was created and gives details about the events that extended the nation’s first bloodbath. The analogy dogs of war were used to compare both sides failure to consider that things may not go as planned. According to the author, Abraham Lincoln underestimated the Southerners love for the south and Davis doubted the Northerners strength believing that the North would not even last through the first battle in the war. The purpose of this essay is to evaluate Emory M. Thomas’s argument on how America couldn’t handle something it had started; given that several martial moments had steered, extended and destroyed what we knew as the Union and the Confederate era; the art of not knowing or maybe just not even considering other possibilities were reasons why the American Civil war had transpired in the first place. Mr. Thomas insists that martial moments led up to the Civil War; one being the battle at Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina. According to Emory Thomas, the war that began that fateful April day had been coming for a long time. He explains that when Confederate general Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard Chestnut uttered...

...The premise behind the Civil War was to subdue the Confederate rebellion and restore Federal law in the Southern states. The Battle at Bull Run was the first major land battle of the Civil War with the intent to take control of Richmond, which was the capital of Virginia and of the Confederacy. Leaders thought by controlling Richmond they would cause an early end to the uprising. Immediately after taking command, Brigadier General Irvin McDowell came under pressure from President Lincoln to launch a decisive military operation against the Confederate Army. Unfortunately, McDowell ineffectively used many of the mission command variables in his attempt to defeat the Confederate rebellion resulting in numerous casualties and Union retreat back to Washington. Some keys points of mission command discussed in this paper include whether or not McDowell understood the operational environment, did he visualize the results of the operation along with successfully describing the end state to his staff to gain a shared understanding. Additionally, to discuss McDowell’s effectiveness directing all aspects of the operation, continually assessing the situation to make necessary adjustments along with leading his staff by providing direction and motivation. In 1861 both War Democrats, whose views on slavery were cautious (believing that Congress had no right to interfere with property rights in the states), and the more radical Republicans (who demanded its abolition), were impatient to...

...A. One reason why political parties rose in the early Republic was because Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton had opposing views on government. Hamilton wanted a strong central federal government. Hamilton and other leaders created the Federalist party in 1787 and it was backed by the wealthy. The Federalist party believed in a republic where the federal government had most of the power and should protect the interests of the country. Jefferson was at the head of the anti-federalists also known as the Democratic-Republican Party. The Democratic-Republican Party was backed by people such as small farmers, artisans, and planters. They wanted the federal government to have little involvement in their lives and to leave most of the power to the local and state governments (Flanders, 2007). B1. ...Whitney invented a machine, the machine the automated the separation between cottonseed from cotton fiber. Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd president of the United States was worried he would have to alliance with Britain after the French regained the Louisiana Territory from Spain due to the new strong French presence. The original plan Jefferson had was to buy New Orleans and western Florida from France. By the time US ambassador James Monroe arrived in Paris, Napoleon decided to simply sell all of the Louisiana Territory to the US for 15 million dollars. After the Senate ratified the treaty, the land of the US more than doubled in size. This event in United States history is important because after Napoleon sold the Louisiana Territory to the US, its size more than doubled which gave it more strength and space. It also prevented some clash that the French...
