Market
Sometimes a sanctuary, sometimes a spa and at other times purely functional – a bathroom is the perfect place to unwind, a refuge from the daily grind.
Increasingly over the past fifteen years,
Indians have begun to look at bathrooms as decompressing zones that also make a lifestyle statement. The demand for bathrooms that combine convenience with functionality and marry luxury with technology is rapidly increasing. Builders and homeowners alike are now realising that a bathroom with a built-in wow factor enhances not only the desirability but also the value of a property. But amazingly, even as late as the 1990s, the bath fittings market was dominated by small manufacturers who focused on functional entry-level products, paying scant regard to design, aesthetics or quality.
With the shift in market focus, several players joined the race, slowly pushing out of reckoning manufacturers in the unorganised sector. Such has been the leap in both quality and aesthetics that the organised segment now controls more than 50% of the Rs. 1800 crore
(US$ 375 million) market by value year, no-questionsasked warranty, plus after-sales-service at the customer’s doorstep. It was also the first company to introduce four-colour packaging for bathfittings. These not only helped ensure product differentiation, they also reinforced its brand identity.
Jaquar Orientation
Centres are marketing innovations that provide the consumer
(Source: Business Line, April 2009), with Jaquar its undisputed champion.

Achievements
Jaquar has been a key player in transforming the bath-fittings industry from merely utilitarian to the inspirational. The company has been able to achieve this by metamorphosing bathrooms from dull and drab spaces into sparkling facilities. In the process the brand has set several new benchmarks. It was, for instance, the first to offer a range of customised bath fittings that merged with the aesthetics of the house itself. It introduced the concept of a ‘range’ and brought
Indian customers face-to-face with a coordinated set of top-of-the-line bath fittings called the ‘collection’. The first in this series – and one that laid the foundation for others to follow – was Stealth.
In another radical move, Jaquar underlined its confidence in its products by offering a seven106

with a plethora of ideas and solutions for bathrooms and interiors. As the largest exporter of bathroom fittings from India,
Jaquar products come with a BSEN 200 certification – the final stamp of quality.
The brand is, today, acknowledged to be the undisputed market leader with a commanding presence across the country.
Jaquar rewrote the rules and reincarnated the bath-fittings industry in India by creating products that were inspired by

aesthetics and delivered reliability and quality. Its dominance and growth can be gauged from the fact that in the last three years the company has doubled its turnover.

History
Jaquar was established in 1986, by the late
N L Mehra who ventured into the manufacture of bath-fittings in 1960 under the brand name
Essco. Thanks to his emphasis on quality and design development, it soon became a major player in the industry and acquired a fine reputation for transparency.
The success of Essco revealed the huge unfulfilled demand for world-class bath fittings in
India. This singular fact led to the birth of Jaquar.
Jaquar was a brand in a hurry. In quick succession it introduced a range of products

with quality and looks as the defining features.
This had a telling effect on the industry and changed, for ever, the rules by which this business was run.
As it continued to forge new ground, Jaquar entered into strategic marketing tie-ups with a number of global companies. These include
Hansgröhe of Germany, a world-leader in bath and shower systems; AO Smith from the US for water heaters; Italy’s Glass Idromassaggio for whirlpool and shower units; Aquis, a pioneer in sensor technology; Breuer of Germany, manufacturers of a top-of-the-line range of shower enclosures; Docol from Brazil for watersaving taps and flushes; SIAMP from Monaco for concealed cisterns and Artemide of Italy and
Holtkotter from Germany for lighting products.
Effectively, Jaquar now operated in three distinct product verticals: faucets, high-end bath and shower systems and decorative lighting.
Expansion into the home improvement segment has been just one of the reasons for
Jaquar’s success. The company owes much to its high standards of quality and innovation driven by its research and development effort.
Jaquar operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.
These plants constitute one of the largest, single-unit facilities in Asia comprising of two ultra-modern manufacturing units spread across
43,000 square metres with a manufacturing capacity of 30,000 units each day and a third unit that has recently gone on stream, covering an area of 48,000 square metres.

end, affluent market and for builders developing luxury properties, these creations are designed to take customers into a world of products that will shape their homes tomorrow. The
Orientation Centres also serve another significant function: by association, they help Jaquar position itself as the country’s pre-eminent bathroom fittings and accessories brand.
The company is in the process of signing several more collaborations and to bring to customers in India other award-winning products.

the economy to the high-end Artize range of products. The Artize range has five designs under it – all of which cater to the premium segment. The other upmarket range comprises of Kubix, Ornamix and Opal. The Rendezvous
Crystal collection is the ultra chic range which uses original rainbow crystals from Swarovski and can literally turn a bathroom into a jewel case, while the conventional single-lever fittings are available in the Astra range.
Jaquar Artize, the latest offering from the
Jaquar stable is a range of unsurpassed aesthetics. In this collection, the designers have given free expression to their fantasies and have created shapes and designs of bath fittings that can only be termed as art that performs.
Each one of these products is manufactured on fully automatic and semi-automatic, highspeed, high-precision machines using the advanced silica core technology. This guarantees an unblemished, defect-free product. Not satisfied with this assurance, Jaquar reconfirms the quality in its in-house testing laboratory, equipped with pneumatic testing and endurance testing machines.

Recent Developments
Product
The range of products and permutation of finishes offered by Jaquar remain unmatched by any other manufacturer in India. The product portfolio consists of the most comprehensive range of bath fittings including faucets, showers, spouts, flush-valves, single-lever mixers, sensors, wall-basin-bidet and sink-mixers, diverters and more. The Jaquar sensor tap – or the ‘intelligent tap’ as it is widely called – is manufactured with the world’s foremost sensor technology from
Aquis. These taps sense movement near the spout and automatically regulate the flow of water, dispensing a pre-determined quantity. In public places such as hotels, hospitals and theatres, where such conservation is essential these taps have found instant markets.
The company’s thermostatic diverters provide water flow at uniform temperature set to individual specifications. This technology is currently in use in hotels and has the potential to find immediate benefit in homes to ensure that children are protected from a sudden spurt of hot water.
Jaquar bath fittings come in more than fourteen ranges encompassing everything from

As a dynamic company, Jaquar continues to source best-in-class products and technology for the Indian market. Its recent tie-up with SIAMP from Monaco has given its clients access to world-class concealed cisterns.
Jaquar has also partnered Hansgröhe AG, the
German major to showcase and demonstrate its top-end bath and shower product range in
Jaquar Orientation Centres. Meant for the high-

Jaquar was the first bath fittings brand to advertise in the electronic media. Its TV commercial of thieves stealing the tap rather than other valuables, effectively reinforced the aspirational image of the brand. Its ad campaigns seek to highlight the inspired design of its products.
The Stealth collection, for example, was showcased as being inspired by the concept of the high-tech stealth aircraft. The
Angel range evoked the serenity of a waterfall while royal magnificence was the inspiration for the Queens collection.
Jaquar has followed a multi-faceted promotion strategy that combines above-theline promotion with trade-related orientation activities. Jaquar Orientation Centres have been set up not just to display futuristic products, but to also provide guidance, education and trends to both customers and retailers.
The company also undertakes initiatives to train technicians and architects in correct installation techniques and maintenance skills.
The promotional campaigns for Jaquar have evolved with the company and have stressed reliability even as they have highlighted design sophistication. Brand Values
Jaquar, the brand, was built on the platform of quality and aesthetics and with the intent of providing Indians world-class products. That it has succeeded in great measure is beyond doubt. What remains to be seen is how it will leverage its equity to reach other areas of the home that need the Jaquar touch.
For the moment, however, it is watching markets evolve and planning other initiatives that will keep it firmly entrenched in its core area of competency – the bathroom – the place where people increasingly unwind.

...I was born in Los Angeles, California May 20, 2000 at around 5:00 PM. It seems like I was just recently born but it’s been almost 16 years. I still remember some moments when I was a little child. I still look back to my childhood and say, “I miss being a kid.” Here and there I look through my baby pictures and I believed I was a cute baby. But at the age of four, I found a talent. A talent what would represent me as a person and a talent that can be very difficult depending on how far you go with it? But the talent was soccer. I’ve been playing soccer ever since I was four. I joined a recreational team but the coaches told I was way beyond that level. So I joined a competitive team and played a year older. Then I turned five and joined another team that had kids the same age as me. Ever since, I’ve seen many beautiful cities, been to many states, and attended many soccer tournaments. I attended my first tournament in September in the year 2007. I remember I was nervous but excited. My coach told us that if we won all the necessary games; we would win all a prize. Unfortunately, we didn’t earn the prize we wanted. Then a month later in that same year, I attended my first out of state tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. I was stoked to be in an airplane with all my teammates traveling to play soccer. I felt so glorious, like if I was on the top of the world. The years passed and I continued to travel a lot just for soccer. I was seven years old when I...

...Teaching Analysis HOW TO TIE A WINDSOR KNOT Core Concept I chose to write a paper on how to tie a tie (The Windsor Knot). I chose this video because I wanted to compare it with the way I tie a tie. This particular video used the double Windsor knot. When I started watching the video I didn’t realize it was for the double Windsor knot. There are several ways to tie a tie and I find myself looking at other people’s ties to figure out if they did it the same way that I do or what method they use. Some people’s ties look a little crooked or sloppy and I always wonder what approach they took when they tied their tie. I always wonder if they may have left a step out. Some people’s ties are too short so I figure that they don’t know how to adjust the tie. I like my tie to be straight and the right length. I am a tall person so I have to make sure I tie mine a little longer. When I meet someone dressed up and wearing a tie, the tie is one of the first things I notice. So I assume that other people are noticing the same thing and this always makes me cautious of how my tie looks before leaving my house. Organization I feel like this video (How to Tie A Tie For Begginers) was well organized. He demonstrated the tying process very well. He started off with a tie around his neck and explained step by step what to do. Even to the point of what end of the tie should be in the right hand and which end should be in the left hand. If this was my first time at tying a tie, I believe I could have...

It Is Obvious from the Opening Scenes That Bennett Has Created Hector as the Play’s Comic Protagonist. to What Extent Do You Agree with This View?

Bennett does, however, create meaning with regards to the ‘ceremonial undressing’. The removal of clothing could be seen as a way off stripping off the surface of Hector. The audience question: is he the same person in leathers and when he is not in leathers? Is Hector the same person he is in school as he is outside of it or, a completely different person? ‘Le casque’ is a crucial element of this introduction as it has two meanings with regards to translation. The first being that of a standard helmet, the second: that of a knights helmet. This could be seen as symbolism. ‘A man of studied eccentricity. He wears a bow tie.’ Emphasis on the word ‘studied’ indicates that Hector is not a naturally...

(Branston 12) Potency is an evaluation of strong or weak, which in this case involves the strong or weak signs of semiotics that appear in the image. At first glance, a viewer may notice 2 noticeable subjects of the image. There is a vehicle, and there is young man next to the vehicle. This image although not an advertisment, does advertise an event or a special moment to the viewer. Upon viewing the image, a viewer would notice that the young man is not wearing casual clothing. He is dressed in formal wear. A deeper study of what he is wearing is where semiotics would start to show. He is wearing a button down, a belt, chinos, leather shoes, a watch, and a bow-tie. These material objects signify a generic image. These objects put together usually triggers the thought process that somebody wearing these things is going to a special event, possibly a graduation, a date, a wedding, or something of importance. John Updike's "A & P"

...class, “A & P” left me with the most questions. Some of the questions that I asked myself after reading this story were, “What did Updike want me to get from this story?” The second question I asked myself was, “Was there any symbolism or foreshadowing in the extreme amount of detail that Updike used in this story?” The last question that I wanted to answer was, “Is that it?” Did John Updike really write a story about dress code of a supermarket? Or, did he write this story about the moral dilemma a young clerk faces when he believes his boss was rude to three underdressed girls? John Updike’s “A & P” was first published in 1962. This story took place in a small grocery store. The main character, Sammy, is a young clerk. He is ringing up a lady whom he describes as a “witch”, when three young ladies enter the store wearing nothing but bathing suits. Updike uses great detail in describing the three girls. The first one that he noticed was described as “a chunky kid, with a good tan and a sweet broad soft-looking can with those two crescents of white just under it, where the sun never seems to hit…” The second girl was described as “a tall one, with black hair that hadn’t quite frizzed right, and one of these sunburns right across under the eyes”. The third girl was given the name of “Queenie” by the main character, Sammy. Queenie was described as the leader of the group. She had “long white prima-donna legs. She came down a little hard on her heels, as if she didn’t...

Work Changes

...Running head: WORK CHANGES Work Changes Many things change in the course of time. Often even though the outside world changes the workplace stays the same, becoming the last place to take the steps to become part of society. The short story “In Service” was written by Louisa May Alcott. Miss Alcott grew up in a time when poverty was very common and work was hard to find. She had a lot of jobs in her teens. Miss Alcott also was left to take care of her family. She worked as a seamstress and also was a companion a few times. Her passion was writing but not until 1855 did she have her first work published. (Alcott, 1996) In the 1800’s work was a lot different, there were still slaves and whites and colors were not used to working with each other. The story “In Service” tells about a white women who even thought she has been schooled, she is still not able to find work. She ends up going to an intelligence office and having them find her work. The intelligence office is probably like going to a temp agency of the 20th century. While Christie is working for her new mistress she runs into lots of problems she has to resolve to tasks she thinks is degrading and she also has to reassess what she really wants in the future. The job in this story is a lot like the jobs of today. So is the way she went about getting it. After reading the story a few times you start to sympathize with Christie as you follow her thru her journey. She starts out with analyzing what kind of job she...

Analysis of Sommersonntag

...bridge operator. The film portrays the son's death and the ultimate choice the father has to make between saving the lives of train passengers approaching the bridge and that of his own son, as he is playing under the elevator bridge. The cinematographic techniques used to portray this fictional narrative add to the films depiction through its suspenseful close-ups, and switching from differing characters/ objects point of view, as the train approaches the bridge and from the point of view of the father's narration of the event. The aspect ratio of the short film is rectangular filmed in a ratio of 2:3 and is filmed in normal (real time) speed. The onscreen and offscreen space is manipulated from the very beginning of the short film hiding the actual location of the father. The film opens with a close up of the father in a suit and tie, not revealing his location and going through the corse of events that led hid here to this point. It only reveals later through a widening of the shot that he is in a graveyard, recounting the way in which his son was killed. The film makes use of long shots through close ups to give the viewer a feeling of suspense, the scope/ mechanism of the machinery involved and the emotions of the actors portrayed. The long shot is used to portray the immensity of the elevator bridge and the distance of the train to the bridge as it inevitably comes towards the bridge. The use of the long shot here shows the time limits the father has to make his...
