The argument presented by Tim Kreider is that the voids inside of people cause them to create busyness, therefore giving themselves the belief of personal importance. Kreider states that busyness gives people something to complain about, I have complained more than once about having too much on my agenda. From my own experience, when worried, I will start near impossible projects, volunteer to help someone, otherwise find anything to do other than what needs doing.
