...------------------------------------------------- Top of Form March 02, 2013 Tim McGraw Sees 'Two Lanes of Freedom' by Mary Morningstar Country star Tim McGraw spent the past few years battling in court to end his career-long relationship with Curb Records. McGraw is finally on a new record label with a new CD. “Two Lanes of Freedom” is McGraw’s debut album for the Nashville independent label Big Machine Records. He shares the Big Machine roster with such superstars as Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts and Trisha Yearwood. McGraw was under contract with Curb Records for 20 years. Following the release of his final album for Curb, “Emotional Traffic,” he signed with Big Machine and soon found himself being sued by his old label for breach of contract. A Nashville judge ruled in McGraw’s favor in 2012. Curb sent the case to the Tennessee Supreme Court. Two weeks after the release of “Two Lanes of Freedom,” the court signed an order denying Curb’s appeal. McGraw took a new approach in the recording studio that allowed him to make what he describes as “a pivotal album” in his career. “What I wanted to do with the record is I wanted to go in, because I’d worked with every musician on this record individually and some together as a group, but as a whole these guys had never all worked together at one time," he said. "I thought that was interesting to start with. But, I also wanted to go in and do about two weeks straight and do 10 to 14 hours a day, start in the morning and...

...The Blind side is a true story, which is also a sad story. It is about Michael Oher, who had a hard life growing up. He met up with a wealthy family who took him in and tried to give him a better life that he was given while growing up. Growing up in the projects in Memphis where this all took place was a hard thing for people to accept. The family made him like a son and protested one another which I don’t feel a lot of families do now a days. Certain people carry guns to protect themselves, and their family members and are part of the NRA. They showed how people in gangs would threaten other people and you need to know how to protect yourself in these types of situations. There were scenes where there were football games, and we were shown how he got to be on the football team. He had to get help with schoolwork so he could pass school. In one excellent scene, the breaking point of human nature is revealed. How far can one be pushed? We see how Michael reacts when taunted and teased mercilessly by a member of an opposing team. When Mike finally reaches his boiling point, he becomes a human bulldozer and physically bull dozes his tormentor off the field. I have experienced bullies in my past and can totally relate to Michael’s reaction. The result of Michael’s reaction helps him show the coaches what he is capable of doing on the field, and so it is a very positive outcome born from a negative start. This is a film about chance meetings. Michael needs to be out...

...“Helping McGraw-Hill Construction Turn Valuable information into a Revenue Stream” “It’s not easy to take millions of documents, scan them, keep them all together, index them for keyword searches and then transmit them to different locations and different databases at the same time for repurposing into different media. Xerox showed us that they had really mastered this technology.” – Tim Ryan Senior Vice President, Business Operations McGraw-Hill Construction Background McGraw-Hill Construction—which includes Dodge Reports, Sweet’s and other web information services and publications—is the leader in providing information, intelligence, tools and resources to the $4.6 trillion construction industry. It’s constantly looking for ways to improve its operations to connect its customers to projects, products and people. A few years ago, the company’s MHC Dodge division decided to streamline the way it added new content to its vast digital database of architectural plans, specifications and other information related to active construction projects. The valuable database is subscriber based and contains more than 65,000 projects that are updated daily. At the time, the organization relied on five geographically dispersed in-house imaging facilities to convert hard-copy construction documents into digital form. The internal imaging process was not optimized, however, because it required scanning each document twice—once to produce microfilm and once...

Visas maybe issued for 24 months. Employers are required to cover recruitment and return airfare costs, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available, to provide medical coverage until the employee is covered under a provincial plan and to sign an employee/employer contract. (Elgersma, 2007) Tim Hortons "is a company that a lot of Canadians identify with and it is very proudly a Canadian brand," says Howard Ramos, an associate professor of sociology at Dalhousie University in Halifax. "But it's also a company that is a pioneer in hiring temporary foreign workers and so for this reason I think it's important to highlight Tim Hortons as an exemplar of how the temporary foreign worker program has changed and expanded. (Davison, 2012) The temporary foreign worker program has man is a resort companies use to hiring as they will have exhausted all other avenues for finding employees locally. It is a great program mainly for foreign workers who come and work in Canada and if they like it here they can apply for permanent residency. Unlike immigrants...

...length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile, only to come out clean on the other side”. I have adapted that quote into my life and how one should deal with adversity. But, I digress. What I am going to address has nothing to do with my life or how to overcome obstacles, but how that movie demonstrated a few of the concepts of classicism, particularly for the time period, and length of time, the movie was based upon. The themes and characters in the movie “Shawshank Redemption” represent the socio-economic climate of the time. The classicism displayed in the movie did not occur until our main character was several months, up to a year, into his term. As Red, played by Morgan Freeman, starts a friendly bond with Andy, played by Tim Robbins, you can see the symmetry between them. At first, the two seem to feel each other out, although Red is more the extravert to Andy’s introversive tactics. As time progresses, what starts off as business turns into life long friendship. Red is a simple, common sense driven individual whereas Andy has the upscale businessman persona with a higher than average scale of intelligence than many of his counterparts. When the two interact you can see the symmetry between them as street knowledge gives way to book smarts and vice versa. There is also a level of humanism that is outspoken in the scene when Andy locks the door to the warden’s office and plays “The Marriage of Figaro” by Mozart. At that moment,...

This paper will also explain how the code of conduct can be implemented by the company, checks and balances to measure adherence to the code, and lastly, three ways the restaurant can engage in socially responsive activities in the community in which it operates. The Cheesecake Factory has a rather large code of conduct. There are a few specific ideas within the code of conduct that is of significant importance to the Cheesecake Factory’s business. It is imperative that this code of conduct is established because staff members must understand the Cheesecake Factory’s ethics and belief system in comparison to other organizations because it may differ with regards to cultural content, values, and ordering of beliefs (McShane & Von, 2005). The first significant idea in the code of conduct is conflict of interest. ...“Facing Poverty with a Rich Girl’s Habits” Ariel Terrell Professor Kimberly,Sinott ENG 115 January 25, 2013 “Facing Poverty with a Rich Girl’s Habits” By: Suki Kim Reading this essay Suki Kim examined about how you should never get adequate with your style of living because it can change spontaneously. She had to get a mindset that she was no longer going to live in a lifestyle like she did in Korea. She had it utterly made living in Korea. She was treated rich in Korea, but suddenly this flickered. She went from being rich to poor and now she was facing paucity. She had to learn and accept that this is the change and lifestyle she must grow into. One thing I realize is even though she moved to an American State, she will would still abide the same race and she couldn’t change what was within her anima. She also had to comprehend that just because she to move to New York, did not mean she had to change the way she have faith in or her civilization. As she went to high school, she quoted, “Yet it did not take me long to realize that the other students and I had little in common.”( Roen, D., Glau, G., & Maid, B. (2011).). Suki Kim was facing the same thing kids from her school were facing. I trust Suki Kim main purpose in writing this essay is she wanted to explain that she cultivated tough situations conforming to what it was like living in America than living in Korea. She had to realize that how she was living in Korea is not going to be same living in America...

...Nokia’s New Home in Romania 1 The rapid move in the telecommunications technology world has pushed many of top cellular leaders to examine the ever-increasing challenge of efficiency, effectiveness and the cost conscience choices of product supply and demand. Business managers must consider the best markets for creating new products to meet customer’s needs, while remaining competitive and fostering valued employee and community connections. Nokia, one of the world’s largest cellular providers with an estimated 49,560 permanent employees (as of 4/1/07), national research centers and distribution sites globally; opted to begin yet another production and distribution site in Transylvania, Romania (Corporate Responsibility, 2007). The 88 million dollar investment was set before John Guerry a 36-year old Texan in charge of the plant. His challenge was to select, train and retain adequate employees with a skill based work environment to ensure that a multinational competitor would not impede on the best workers (Ewing, 2009). The reasons why Romanians are motivated to obtain a job at Nokia’s new factory begin with the well regarded technical university where engineering students can begin their career with a globally secure company. A repressive communist dictatorship has left a blaring mark of impoverished conditions for the city of 400,000 people. Many of the locals overwhelmingly seek the opportunity to gain skills and advancement to improve their current living circumstances...
