Toca was the method of gagging the victim and water poured down their mouth and nose to mimic drowning. Torture was a common tool to extract confessions from a criminal. If confessions were not validated within 24 hours of the torture session, another session would be scheduled. The method of torture used for the trial of Marina Gonzalez was toca or “tortura del agua" which is very similar to the modern day’s waterboarding torture.
