APLAC: HORACE ESSAY
The Roman poet named Horace uses a quote that is very inspiring in a way that in times of struggle something that is least expected in us comes alive. Depending on the situation, adversity will take place and for the long run develop a person’s character.
Sometimes people are put in certain situations that are hard to handle and usually a certain skill/ talent will be released without them even noticing because they need that extra boost in their life. One day someone may be in danger or oneself may be in danger, the adrenaline rush you have at the moment will make you stronger and you’ll be able to defend yourself in any circumstances. Your instincts will kick in and your reactions will be faster and more precise. One day a mother left her child unattended by a park and the child decided to leave and cross the road because his ball had rolled off. A truck was coming his way but he had no idea and his mom saw this from afar and sprinted to save him. The fact that her only child was in danger made her instincts come out. Another example would be if you’re facing a death in a family you’ll have to take out strength from somewhere to be able to console the rest of your family and always be there for them. This time of misfortune calls for strength and you’re giving it although it may be hurting you as well. I believe that this makes you stronger if in the future times something similar happens and you have to go through all this again.
There may be times when people are financially unstable but they were successful in one point of their life and now everything goes down the drain. In these cases it’s very hard to pick yourself up especially if you have no one to help you. Some look for jobs and others just decide it’s better to go out and beg for money. The people begging for money in the streets decided to take the easy way out and their problems aren’t making them realize they have to do something about it. These are the kind of people that don’t take advantage of the opportunities they are given to prove they have skills to better them and actually go out and give their all to get another job. Usually these people stay homeless and will always beg for money until they grow old and for the long run their character will diminish while the other people will try to be successful.
During hard times the best of us comes out because we learn from our problems and we grow stronger. When everything is going splendid in someone’s life they usually don’t pay attention to what their abilities are because they won’t make a good use of it. Personal hardships and troubles in people’s lives make them grow mentally to either develop a weak or strong character so they can be prepared for their later years in life. All the problems that come at us is a reason and will make a difference or impact on us.
