...Emma Mitchell Group #3 Homework Assignment #3 Top Ten Reasons Why it is Harder to be a Woman What makes it harder to be a woman than a man? There are many sociocultural reasons as to why it is harder to be either gender. As a woman, these are just a few of the reasons why it is harder to be a woman than a man. 10. Women who have more sexual partners are looked down upon in society. Thinking back to being in high school our class valedictorian was the nicest, smartest, most popular girl but she was looked down upon because she had multiple sex partners during our high school career. It was a situation where a woman in power was judged by her choice in her number of sex partners. Most people spoke ill of her because of her choices, but they often failed to see all the hard work she put into our community and into her own education. The difficult thing about this challenge to being a woman is that other women are generally the people that disapprove of these choices the most. They often have the harshest words to say in regards to other women. Some men appreciate this type of woman more and thatis for obvious reasons. 9. Men grow up watching their mother do all house work. It makes it harder for a woman to “train” their man to help with house work. With television shows such as Family Guy, The Simpsons, and King of the Hill, shows that have a predominantly male following; it is hard for a woman to teach a husband to help with house work unless...

This study highlights this fact and has found tenure to be a likely cause for the lack of Asia-focused articles. This stems from the strong emphasis universities place on the publishing of articles and with the belief that there is a lack of reliable data on Asia, researchers are less inclined to conduct studies on Asia given that top economics journals require accurate and dependable data for publishing. 1 FYP Project Number: HE_2AY1415_09 ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS We, the authors of this paper, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Chia Wai Mun, Associate Professor, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technology University, for her unwavering support and constant...

...see a show of hands? Alright. I presume that for those who said yes, which is the majority, raised their hand for the same reason. More customers mean more people buying and more people buying mean more profits for the company, isn’t it? Sounds sensible but I hate to break it to you but those of you who said yes are wrong. Today I will transform that thinking to exactly the opposite. I will introduce based on a new study the idea of ‘less is more’. Focusing on a smaller number of customers could help a company speed up growth, increase profit and improve long-term health. I am going to talk about how top companies gain customers, how they keep them and how these customers help them in expanding their business. They don’t need a lot of customers, just the right ones to keep them on top. First point is, fewer customers can speed up the company’s growth. Would you believe that some companies actually go out of business because of too many customers? Yes, that is true. The problem with these companies is they get very overwhelmed with the influx of customers that they forget to establish a connection with their customers. According to Forbes, this is one of the top 5 reasons why 8 out of 10 businesses fail - because they are not really in touch with their customers in a deep dialogue. I will explain this further when I get to my third point. Another reason why businesses go down is because they cannot keep up with the production to meet the demand of all the customers. Having more...

...Empowering Your Organization Empowering Your Organization This paper will focus on four detrimental symptoms of disempowerment: Blame and victim mentality, Apathy and burnout, Gossip and backbiting and Top talent leaving for better opportunities or work environment. These are common issues found within many organizations. Their negative impact is corrosive and metastasizes like a cancer. However, if symptoms are recognized, diagnosed and consequently addressed the damage can be halted and replaced with positive and productive values that will serve to empower. World-renowned for their pioneering work on empowerment the six values identified by Gershon and Straub (2009), will be used as a tool to develop strategies to resolve these four issues of disempowerment. The Blame Game Hierarchy, inequality, and violence, in the history of mankind there has been a structure of those that lead and those that follow, the blessed and those that lament, hunters and prey. The world is a diverse place; therefore, different societal sects or cultures view and respond to difference in position/title, wealth and power, and capability in dissimilar ways. In the workplace this disparity can produce a phenomena referred to as “victim mentality.” This behavior is marked by an individual blaming everything and everyone for their failures and woes; with the individual assuming the role of victim, e.g., John who is chronically tardy to work is terminated. Instead of seeing his behavior as the...

However, it seems that in any situation on the topic of book banning only explains the reasons behind the removal of the material. But, the rules and guidelines for banning written materials has never been formally established. According to a 2011 Journal of Law and Education from the Jefferson Law Book Company there had been more than 250 attempts at book banning by school districts in the previous four years in 31 states in the U.S. Due to lack of resistance and reduced media awareness more that 85% of book banning goes unreported. (ALA.org. Banned and Challenged Books. Frequently Challenged Books). These lists describe the various objections to certain books for a variety of different reasons. There is no explanation on what makes a book safe from being banned or condemns it. In 2012 out of 464 challenged books reported to OIF the top...
