With an enrolment of about 550, the Roman Catholic school, situated some 36 km outside Nyanga in the Eastern Highlands, has its pupils brimming with a new sense of confidence. While in 2012 Marist Brothers (The Little Brothers of the Virgin Mary) Nyanga were beaten to the top spot by their provincial rivals St Faith’s Secondary, the academic powerhouse has managed to climb back up the rankings. Over 20 students at the school scored 15 points and above, with the highest Terrence Muradzikwa attaining 25 points or straight As in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Business Studies. Muradzikwa has since been awarded a scholarship to study at Harvard University in the United States of America beginning August. Clement Nyamandwe, the headmaster of Marist Brothers Nyanga High School, yesterday told the Daily News that hard work as pronounced by their motto ‘Pietas et Veritas’ or ‘Duty and Truth’ was the key to their success. Nyamandwe said the school location, high standards...

...Running head: TOP 100 WORKPLACES Top 100 Workplaces Human Resource Management Top 100 Workplaces In June of 2012, the Star Tribune released the “Top 100 Workplaces” in Minnesota based on an employee-based survey project. With over 1,360 companies and organizations invited to participate and compete to be a top workplace, only 160 were honored with an award. To qualify for the Star Tribune top workplaces, a company must have more than 50 employees in Minnesota. The rankings were composite scores calculated purely on the basis of employee responses and was published in a special section of the Star Tribune’s print and web editions. My thesis statement is, the work environment offered at Olmsted Medical Center have motivated and collaborated group cohesions among employees to make these companies successful. The rankings of the top 100 workplaces are based on survey information WorkplaceDynamics, an independent company specializing in employee engagement and retention, collected. The list WorkplaceDynamics compiled is based on an employee feedback survey project, which contains twenty-two questions and five custom questions to assess employee opinions about company leadership, communication, career opportunities, workplace environment, managerial skills, pay and benefits satisfaction, job security, organizational justice, and the importance of various work elements. The surveys are designed to measure the three critical elements of the workplace: the company’s organizational...

...Top 100 Essay Upon examining the world, one will find many great people who have shaped the one we live in today. Despite the significance of them all, it is important to be able to narrow them down to a list of one hundred or so. From there, the true test is to be able to tell which person had a bigger effect on our state of being than the other. Starting with a list that has already been compiled, this essay will rank each historical figure by their impact on the world. (Please note that this list was compiled based on a western perspective.) Topping the list at #1 is Muhammad. As the Prophet of Islam, Muhammads, s.a.w, teachings have reached and inspired many societies and their people. His teachings also indicate the best way to think and therefore live. At #2 is Jesus Christ, whose place as the central figure of Christianity has impacted the lives of his believers, all 2 billion of them (give or take). His existence has lead to the many holidays and churches that occupy mainly, western society. At #3 is Gautama Buddha, who is the spiritual teacher and founder of Buddhism. Lord Buddha has played a large role in the growth of many people of asian descent and offers a religion to the world that can be seen as very peaceful. ...WHAT MAKES A TOP 100 HOSPITAL? Anthony Bennett January 31, 2016 The Cleveland Clinic is a hospital located in Cleveland, Ohio It was founded in 1921 and is associated with Case Western Reserve University and also with the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Cleveland Clinic has more than 1,400 beds on its main campus and 4,450 beds systemwide. The system consists of a 44-building main campus in Cleveland, eight community hospitals, a children's hospital for rehabilitation, one affiliate hospital and 75 outpatient clinics locally, as well as one facility each in Weston, Fla, Las Vegas, Toronto and Abu Dhabi. Cleveland Clinic is led by President, Director and CEO Delos "Toby" Cosgrove, MD. Dr. Cosgrove also serves as chairman of the board of governors. In 2014, Dr. Cosgrove wrote a book entitled The Cleveland Clinic Way: Lessons in Excellence From One of the World's Leading Health Care Organizations. In it, he describes how Cleveland Clinic is preparing for the future of medicine by keeping the focus on the patient (Cosgrove, 2014). One reason I feel that the Cleveland Clinic is a top hospital is due to their expenditures and budgeting practices. Cleveland Clinic's total operating revenue in 2013 was $6.5 billion, and its operating income was $296 million. At the end of last year, Cleveland Clinic had 320 days cash on hand. It was also known to have $9.14 billion dollars in total patient revenue according to a report by Jamie Oh (Oh, 2011). These types...

Additionally, they are ranked 'Best in West' for 23rd consecutive year in annual survey. The architecture of UCLA Medical Center is new and replacing their older facilities around the same area because it was suffered moderate interior structural damage. It was a disaster that led to several hospitals severely damaged and injured many people. ...What makes a hospital successful? In an article written for the website Nursezone.com, it states, “Top hospitals have developed and implemented a successful business and clinical strategies that allow them to balance their finances and patient care” (Larson, 2002). Pastor John A. Burden, a Seventh-day Adventist, founded Loma Linda University Medical Center on May 29, 1905 (“A Brief History Loma Linda University Health,” 2014). For more than one hundred years, Loma Linda University has dedicated itself to the teaching and ministry of Jesus Christ through service, research, healthcare, learning, and spiritual life. It was Pastor Burden’s wish to not only start a medical center, but train young Seventh-day Adventists to eventually become missionaries (“A Brief History Loma Linda University Health,” 2014). Today Loma Linda University School of Medicine is dedicated to training students by emphasizing the patient’s needs, and capitalizing on preventative care in efforts to slow down future disease. Their philosophy is to provide a Christian-like atmosphere, while providing students with a learning environment that offers excellent teachers and training facilities. ...The most influential person in my life has often stated that “taking risks and overcoming obstacles promotes important discoveries in your life and work.” The most important experience in my life sought me out. It happened to me; I didn’t cause it. However, I am so grateful for that experience because it has changed me in a magnificent way. I have discovered many things about myself as well as others that have benefited my maturity. As I sat at the dining room table one Tuesday night awaiting dinner, I felt as though my world was starting to crash down around me. School, work, friends, and just life in general were stressing me out, not to mention thoughts of the future. I was suddenly faced with the most devastating news of my life; or so I thought. My mother has always been my most adamant supporter but as she sat there, telling me that I would have to pay for my college tuition, I couldn’t help but feel nothing less of hatred for her. The lack of my parents’ financial support has motivated me to prove that I can and will achieve my dreams. As a result of this experience, I am currently in school while holding two jobs at the same time which takes a great deal of responsibility and a considerable amount of time. Working two jobs and staying in school is not exactly what I call fun. However, it is worth the trouble knowing that I get a lesson about responsibility out of it. All this hard work has taught me how to be responsible. I can use this example now and put it into use...

...makes the toy quite easy to make. It is an ancient mechanical device used for ceremonial purposes and as a toy. It is an object in the middle of a cord and can be made to buzz by winding the cord while keeping the end stationary. The object moves by pulling and releasing the tension on the cord. The most common way that it was made was with a large button and some string. History of the toy As children in the 1950's, this was a favorite toy. It is interactive and although it doesn't seem to do much, the hypnotic whirring and the pulling to keep it moving kept us busy for a long time. There are several different kinds of spinning tops. In East Asia the conventional way of spinning the top is by using a string. By the late 16th century, tops like these were being used by adults in Britain. The Museum has a varied collection of spinning tops, humming tops and gyroscopes. A number of optical toys was developed in the early 19th century and it is used as spinning to create moving pictures. One of these is the zoetrope invented in 1834. It consists of a metal drum pierced by a series of thin vertical slots. Paper strips, depicting a moving figure or object, are placed inside. When the child spins the drum and looks through the slots, the pictures appear to move. This is due to the principle of “persistence of vision”; the brain remembers what the eye has seen for a fraction of a second and so “pieces together” the separate pictures. How to make a Button-String Toy? Note: You can...
