This paper will address two examples for music, art, architecture, philosophy, and literature for the Enlightenment and Romantic periods. Each item will show the impact it had on the society today.

ART Enlightenment Period Jean-Pierre Houel’s picture The Taking of the Bastille showed a great historic event. The painting showed the Bastille, which was symbolic of France’s royal authority figure, destroyed in the French Revolution. It conveyed the emotion and importance of that particular event. The painting, Joseph Bonnier de la Mosson, created by Jean-Marc Nattier was important piece of art. The painting was indicative of the Enlightenment school of thought because it showed a scholarly, well-dressed man reading a book. Romantic Age Joseph M Turner’s The Chancel and Crossing of Tintern abbey, looking toward the East Window was inspired to paint the Tintern Abbey after visiting the site. The abbey was popular to many Romantics. It inspired the famous poem Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tinten Abbey. The painting itself show the smallness of man, wilderness of nature, and unstoppable power that reclaimed The Tinten Abbey’s edifice. Wanderer above the Sea of Fog, by Caspar David Friedrich was a quintessential Romantic painting. It displayed infinite potential and possibility of man and the mysterious grandeur of nature. The painting also depicted the romantic idea of nationalism and a philosophical revolt against rationalism Music Enlightenment Era Music was no longer for the wealthy. The middle-class could enjoy this music with the incorporation of concerts. Composer Franz Joseph Haydn came up with a new way to entertain these larger audiences by using concepts like a theme, contrasts, climaxes, and suspenseful moments. Haydn also invented the string quartet, which included two violins, a viola, and a cello. No longer did one instrument take the lead, but most of them had an equal amount of attention. The music would flow from one instrument to the next. Romantic Era Gioacchino Rossini was a great composer of this time. He showed the emotion he could put into comedy operas. His famous pieces include the Barber of Seville and the William Tell Overture, both of these still popular even today. Robert Schumann is a great example of this period. He made many great compositions. His intensity with emotion in his music is what he was known for. His piano works such as Carnival are considered masterpieces. Architecture Enlightenment Period According to Morrison (2012) Isaac Newton used this Solomon’s Temple as a sacred place to worship. The fire represent holiness. It is said that this temple was coded with divine truths. The connection transformed into something English. Christian tradition use this temple as a symbol of heaven. According to Vue intérieure de la nouvelle salle projetée pour l'agrandissement de la bibliothèque du Roi/Boullée invenit, it is a huge library with hundreds of bookcases. It is a Neoclassicism development from the Enlightenment period. It has vaulted ceiling lined with bookshelves across the wall. The building transcends a sense of inspiration with the artsy of the highest excellence, Boullée, Etienne-Louis (1728-1799). Romantic Period The Romantic Revolutionary: Museum of Islamic Art, Doha is a doom clay structure with box like corners that referred to as a cubically-shape building. This building structure is common among the Islamic faith, Monstafa (2012). Eiffel Tower (Under construction in 1888) - Romantic Period (1820-1910) is a huge iron concrete base structure that stands 984 feet. It was considered to be the tallest tower in the world during the early 1900s. It considered to be a monster, Amazon cloud (n.d.). Philosophy Enlightenment Period During the Enlightenment Period, Benjamin Franklin was known to be the American diplomat, thinker, and inventor that traveled frequently between America and Europe. During his trips back and forth, he thought of ways and ideas for both countries. These thoughts led to the formation of the government as well as the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution. Romantic Period Friedrich Hegel had a huge effect on the chastisement of history. He conceived ideas for being the mixture of theories being developed. Hegel began a concept that was called the Hegelian notion, which was a dialectic way to reject definitive knowledge that was gained through scientific experimentation.

Closing The impact of these top ten help shape our society today. Many of the beliefs originated from these eras. Some form or fashion these top ten created the roadmap for us. Top Ten Tactics

...the self defense company “The Top 10 Tactics Every Street Smart Person Knows” First of all everyone and their mother will tell you to be aware of your surroundings, trust your instincts and yell “fire” instead of “help”. This advice is all good advice, but since it’s almost common knowledge I’m going to briefly mention our take on these ideas and not “charge” you for it because they’re NOT on the list. The basic rule of measure is if something feels wrong, it is. Pay attention to that little voice inside your head. Women have “intuition” while men have a “gut feeling”. You’re more perceptive than you think. You have been evolving for millions of years and “fear” is your friend when used in the manner in which it was intended. If you get “that feeling”, you need to implement a radical change of action. For example: if you’re looking for your car and you feel like you’re being followed, duck into a store and call someone. If you’re going into your apartment, pretend to remember something you forgot in the car and go get it. This little change in behavior will be the difference of life and death at the cost of a handful of minutes. There are countless instances where people recalled seeing their attacker earlier in the day. Don’t let a little inconvenience cause you to sacrifice your life. Remember most people die in the wild because of shame. They ask themselves, “What did I do wrong? How could I have gotten myself into this?" And so they sit ...

Enron gave the illusion that it was a steady company with good revenue but that was not the case, a large part of Enron’s profits were made of paper. This was made possible by masterfully designed accounting and morally questionable acts by traders and executives. Deep debt and surfacing information about hiding losses gave the company big problems and in the late 2001 Enron declared bankruptcy under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code. Many factors affected Enron's surge to the top and its sudden fall. In this report we will discuss and present what we think were the main reasons of their rise and fall. Enron’s surge to the top From energy to trading Kenneth Lay was one of the key spokesmen when it came to deregulation of the energy market, much because of his personal connection to the Bush family. In the early 1990's the United States congress approved a legislation that deregulated the sale of natural gas. Not long before this Lay was one of the initiators that made it possible to sell electricity on the free market. This major deregulation in the energy market gave Enron...

Science of Toys

...makes the toy quite easy to make. It is an ancient mechanical device used for ceremonial purposes and as a toy. It is an object in the middle of a cord and can be made to buzz by winding the cord while keeping the end stationary. The object moves by pulling and releasing the tension on the cord. The most common way that it was made was with a large button and some string. History of the toy As children in the 1950's, this was a favorite toy. It is interactive and although it doesn't seem to do much, the hypnotic whirring and the pulling to keep it moving kept us busy for a long time. There are several different kinds of spinning tops. In East Asia the conventional way of spinning the top is by using a string. By the late 16th century, tops like these were being used by adults in Britain. The Museum has a varied collection of spinning tops, humming tops and gyroscopes. A number of optical toys was developed in the early 19th century and it is used as spinning to create moving pictures. One of these is the zoetrope invented in 1834. It consists of a metal drum pierced by a series of thin vertical slots. Paper strips, depicting a moving figure or object, are placed inside. When the child spins the drum and looks through the slots, the pictures appear to move. This is due to the principle of “persistence of vision”; the brain remembers what the eye has seen for a fraction of a second and so “pieces together” the separate pictures. How to make a Button-String Toy? Note: You can...
