..."Tough Guy" Case Study by Team #1 "Tough Guy" Case Study In this case study Chip uses a leadership style of forcing and competing in order to meet his desired needs. This gives him the delusion of power and superiority both by using intimidation and condescending remarks coupled with situational abuse. These characteristics are the shark style of conflict and never questioning a leaders’ authority. If an opinion is desired it will be formulated and given to the other party. Chip manages his employees and associates with ridicule, put downs, and threats to obtain the desired objectives. An immediate reaction might be to fight fire with fire but there may be more to this case than the initial burn of a shark bite. The problem is coworkers fear Chip. He subscribes to a kiss-up and kick-down mantra of management. Chip is using strong forces, which results in no emotional motivation for his team. Without the emotional connection, the vision of the company moves further and further away. This company is in need of a face-to-face conversation involving the entire employ to tear down narrow thinking. The teams and bosses are working together albeit out of fear. There is an abuse of personal time with the possibility of sexual abuse staging. Chip goes out of his way to discredit other while never admitting his own indiscretions. ...Controversial Issues in Entertainment Paper Chandni Kumar COMM/225 Chari Davenport Controversial Issues in Entertainment Paper The topic that I choose today is the biggest topic of all in my opinion is Rape. I feel rape is media biggest controversy. I’m from India and people still today in this day and age feel that women invite rape which has caused a big issue in India. Not too long ago in 2012 a 21 year of medical student was raped why only because she was roaming around at 8:30 pm at night. This rape case had caused the biggest controversy in the history of media news in India. Because everyone all over India was doing a candle stand for the victim. There were five guys that had raped the girl. She was going home with her guy friend at 8:30 after watching a movie they were not able to find a taxi so decided to go on a bus. They injured the guy so much and threw him out the bus and all the five guys raped and injured every part of her bone and insides so bad that within 23 hour she had gone through five surgeries. Recently one of the journalist interviewed the victims and they said the girl provoked them to rape her she is a girl she is not supposed to roam around at night time and shouldn’t be wearing short clothes. It’s actually very sad to see how people still think so down about women. Even though that women power the world now they are smarter than men and they are willing to do anything nowadays. They care of a child alone and raise them right. ...

...Application case The Mentorship program at TVH Group Thermote & Vanhalst (TVH) is a global organization that specializes in constructing and repairing forklift trucks. The organization’s expansion presents Paul Sanders, HR director at TVH, with a tough problem: TVH doesn’t have system to capture, store, and leverage employees’ knowledge. There is a massive inflow of young people who lack technical know-how, and specialized knowledge is lost when older employees leave the company. In order to deal with this problem, Paul Sanders introduced a mentorship program. This program helps older employees transmit their knowledge and know-how to younger employees. Paul realizes that the transition to the mentoring system has not gone smoothly when he gets a letter from Freddy Jacobs, One of his most respected employees. Freddy challenges him with the following: “Lately we are doing nothing but explaining work process to the young guys. Our own work has to be put aside, and why? Moreover, the young guy at prepacking has never seen a forklift truck in his life, but he started oof in charge of three older people. We have worked together successfully for than 30 years, and I hope that you will deal correctly with this situation.” After Paul finished reading the letter, he frowned. Experiencing workers were putting a lot of effort into teaching newcomers the tricks of the trade, but the older workers were now becoming upset because of the career opportunities given to the newcomers....

...General draft for our case study * What is Recession: Recession is the worst situation which affects everyone from top to a lower person (boss to employee).companies that increases their workforce in the time of slowdown seem to reaping the benefit of more profits.(from article 8).To prove this point I just want to quote an example of Indian companies. Tata Motors, Asian Paints and Hero Honda Motors, which increased their workforce, posted profit growth of over 100% each while Hero Honda Motors' profits grew by 95%. On the contrary, at Gail (India), Tata Steel and Bank Of India, which saw a decline in workforce levels, net profit went down 39% to 59% respectively.( article 8). * I like this example : If your neighbor gets laid off, it's a recession. If you get laid off, it's a depression. ( http://www.investopedia.com/articles/economics/08/recession-affecting-business.asp#ixzz3X030E9fF) * Causes of recession: According to me I think this is the most important aspect of our case study.like what are the main causes of recession. 1) According to me the fist cause of recession is imbalances in the international trade markets. 2) May be changes in government policies. 3) Stock market crash. 4) Assest bubble (when the prices of companies, stocks or houses become inflated beyond their sustainable value.) * Problems caused by the recession : I am going to mention all the problems which are caused by Recession. As I discussed above it causes...

The legal experts have been saying of late that there is some doubt and what is helping the accused is that the murder weapon pistol has not been located along with no legit witnesses of the shooting coming forward. There is not much of a feel of which side is winning so this outcome could go either way. A doctor on the behalf of the defense, say that two other men were on some serious drugs like PCP and might have committed the crime since it is has been told that PCP can cause violent stages. Unfortunately Hernandez DNA was found on a shell casing in a rental car, but the defense state it came from gum. Shayanna Jenkins said she was told to give money to Earnest Wallace a guy that has been also charged for the execution and was told to do this by Mr. Hernandez. She took a box and did not ask about it or does she now remember where she put this box. It ended up smelling like weed, and that it was weed instead of a gun, and the supplier was MR Lloyd. ...Advertisements Final When advertisers promise something highly unlikely or a TV show uses a specific type of dialogue or style of humor don’t think it is simply when it comes to purchasing almost any product most people really only care about the product and only want to know what the item offers them. But yet advertisers spend billions of dollars throwing images not dealing with what the actual product has to offer the customer at all. This is because the advertising companies have broken this down to a science of breaking down the way people interpret and visualize advertisements. The image is all a thoroughly thought through and calculated science in knowing what it is people are interested in at a particular time. Knowing that every person is part of a demographic is the key for businesses to be able to advertise their products effectively to a broader audience. As well as knowing what catches the audience’s eye such as flashy words and or bright images as well as extravagant backgrounds and the use of “beautiful people”. These along with a TV show using somewhat controversial topics and racial humor to bring in audiences in and increase viewers who want to watch show are examples of the media having an impact on society as a whole. Flashy words saying buy me I will make you pretty or I will make you cool or set yourself apart from the crowd buy this product and be an individual. And images showing insane colors that through the science of tricking your mind convince...

...clear that I’m not one of those guys who thinks that adaptations and sequels are automatically lesser works in and of themselves. You can make a tremendously original or even groundbreaking film out of an adaptation such as The Dark Knight. You can just as easily make an uneventful mess out of an original idea as seen in Transcendence. Some sequels are among the best films ever made while lots of legendary duds were original ideas. Here’s the thing though, no matter how many perfectly good movies we’re getting out of Hollywood’s current obsession with adaptations, sequels, and reboots, too much of it is bad for the soul of a movie culture. New things, new experiences,...

...Jesse Dove CCJS 100 Research Paper Case Study 1 – Murder 13December2013 Case Study One, Murder It’s sad to think about but each and every day someone in this country gets murdered. Violence seems to flood our streets and pollute our society. It doesn’t matt why either, it could be over drugs, money, or disputes. This is something I find unacceptable but see no end in sight to. As we will see in the case study I will present on one particular murder I will explain my views of the case and what I believe to be the proper punishment. I chose the murder of a man and a women named Rodney Hill and Lucy Wolf. From what little details I have it seems that the incident occurred due to a jealous husband acting on his anger with the use of deadly force. It documented how a restraining order was already placed on Ms. Lane’s former husband due to previous problems with physical and mental abuse. In my opinion I believe this might have been what triggered James T. Lane, a bartender and her former husband to lash out in rage. Both Ms. Lane and her new intimate relationship partner Mr. Hill were found dead due to multiple stabbings after her neighbor called police when he heard loud commotion and yelling that ended in screaming. Once police arrived on scene they found both Ms. Lane and Mr. Hill dead at her residence, the death appeared to be caused due to multiple stab wounds on both individuals. Mr. Wolf also reported to police a description of a vehicle that matched Mr. Lanes automobile...
