...How I lost my Youth. I did not know how my last second decision to join the Navy would haunt me for the rest of my life. Where I went from being an innocent kid that was invincible to the world, to bleeding for my country and losing lives of friends. There were moments that led up to this unforgettable situation. It started with General Quarters, which means to man your pre-assigned battle stations, once at your battle station; you must look for all targets while preparing your weapon. Then after all is said and done, I had a point in my life that changed who I was as a person. I had to learn to cope with taking lives and the loss of my best friends. Each of these moments had a lasting effect on me. This situation happened in the Middle East and is where I felt I lost my youth and changed who I was as a person. The day was calm and peaceful in the Persian Gulf about 12 miles off the coast of Iran, when all of a sudden general quarters sounded. The Captains voiced echoed through the hallways, “Man your battle stations; this is not a drill.” In an instant adrenaline pumped through my body as I made my way to the armory. As I was issued my side arm, Kevlar vest, and helmets, I inspected each to make sure they would server their purpose. Once my gear checked out, I moved to the port side bridge wing, where my M60 awaited my arrival. Arriving to my station I had to become alert to my surroundings and locate all targets. Before fully engaging the target I waited for my orders...

Twenty semi- Pe structured interviews are conducted. ...BACKGROUND Introduction A nation’s economy runs on the knowledge and skills of its people. The requirements for skills evolve with external investment, technological advances and globalization. To keep pace with changes, people need to acquire skills to be productive and earn a living and all of these can be achieved through education. Education is the most important mechanism for the empowerment of people for their socio-economic, political, and technological development. The learning environment of higher education institutions must take cognizance of this in structuring their course programs. For the purpose of quality assurance of course programs, higher education institutions can contribute meaningfully by applying the principles of tracer study to create sustainable learning empowerment environment for the continuous professional development of past students. While many higher education institutions provide training to a variety of clients, most forget them as soon as they graduate and leave the institution’s environment with no means to contact them. Employability upon graduation an over the long term is, understandably, the major priority for the vast majority of our University students. Over the past decades or so the University has increasingly offered a wide spectrum of higher education courses that provide students with the necessary tools enabling them to develop their employability skills, to heighten their awareness of these skills and to improve their ability...

...PUP MULANAY GRADUATES SY 2004-2010: A TRACER STUDY By: ADELIA R. ROADILLA, PhD., RGC INTRODUCTION This study aims to trace the whereabouts of PUP Mulanay graduates from 2004-2007. It describes the progress of the alumni as to what they have gone through after obtaining their respective degrees. The main objective of this paper is to determine the relevance and responsiveness of PUP curricular offerings to the labor market. This study further investigated the appropriateness of the know-how and training PUP students have gained in their years of stay in the university. This study answered the following questions: 1. What is the demographic profile of PUP graduates in terms of: 1.1 Age 1.2 Sex 1.3 Course 1.4 Civil Status 1.5 Degree earned from PUP 1.6 Employment Status 2. What is the usual length of time the respondents spend for looking a job? 3. What are the reasons behind taking a job of PUP Mulanay graduates not related to their field of specialization? 4. Being employed, what is the status of their employment in terms of the nature of company/firm where the graduates work, present position and approximate gross monthly salary? 4. What changes are needed to make the graduates competitive enough in the labor market? 5. What can be the measures to solve the problem of mismatch/unemployment confronting the graduates of PUP Mulanay? Research Design This...

...CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION I. BACKGROUND Our future growth relies on competitiveness and innovation, skills and productivity... and these in turn rely on the education of our people. – Julia Gillard. The increase of low-income, low-skilled youth in the labor market, particularly in developing countries, is a major concern internationally. In some regions of the world, young people are nearly three times as likely as adults to be unemployed. They are also more likely to work in the informal labor market than adults, in low quality jobs that offer limited socio-economic security, training opportunities, and working conditions. This enormous unlocked potential represents a substantial loss of opportunity for both individuals and society. With increasing emphasis being given to work- and skills-based solutions to economic competition and poverty in the developing world, comes a renewed focus on technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as a means to expand opportunities for marginalized youth (Tripney, et. al., 2013). Enhancing the quality of basic education in the Philippines is urgent and critical. In line with this, one of the discussions of DepEd which incurred on October 2010 is to enhance the basic education program of the country in a way that is least disruptive to the current curriculum, most affordable to government and families, and aligned with international practice through the K-12 policy. The poor quality of basic education is reflected in the low achievement...

These institutions turn out a large number of associates, graduates and post graduate students in various disciplines and professions. In addition with these, institutions reform their curricula and course programmes at regular intervals to be able to keep abreast with the needs of the rapid technological, societal and institutional changes to be able to meet the requirement of clients. However, once these graduates are pushed out of the walls of the institutions...

...Once the tracer is in the blood vessel, it follows blood flow through the vasculature, and through perfusion, it enters different tissues. The uptake of a tracer into tissue depends on the extraction and clearance of the tracer for that particular tissue. The tracer is extracted by crossing membranes or by diffusion through small gaps between cell junctions in the capillary wall. Membrane transport can be active (requires energy to transport against a concentration gradient), passive (transports with the concentration gradient), or carrier-mediated (transports with concentration gradient with the assistance of a carrier molecule). The interaction of carrier molecules with the functional group of a tracer is what allows a radiotracer to be targeted. Radiotracers can either be trapped in target tissue until they are broken down and excreted, or they can be freely diffusible between target tissue and vasculature. The rate of clearance, or washout, is dependent on blood flow. Concentration of the tracer in...

...stands for positron emission tomography. This technique uses a tracer, which is radioactive. When the tracer is injected, it coats the paths it flows through, attaching itself to tissues and veins inside the person undergoing the scan. Because of the fact that it is injected into the bloodstream, which goes all over the body, it can be used to look into most tissues however generally not bone. Common PET scan uses are for looking at the brain, heart, lungs, and breast. Tracers are known to not have a long half-life, due to the fact that doctors do not want us to have prolonged exposure to radiation. One of the common tracers in positron emission tomography is Carbon-11. The radioactive change that Carbon-11 undergoes is: 611C→511B+e+ As with every medical procedure, there are risks and benefits. A main risk with PET scans is the fact that using a tracer, which is radioactive, will give the patient a dose of radiation that they would normally not come in contact with. This amount of radiation per PET scan is able equivalent to two X-rays. Some people should not undergo PET scans because their body may not be able to handle the radiation. An example of a person who should not undergo a PET scan is pregnant women, as radiation can cause harm to fetal development. RAIU, or radioactive iodine uptake test, is another test that uses a radioactive tracer. This test, however, focuses on how much of the admitted tracer gets absorbed into the subjects thyroid. Like PET scans, RAIU...
