Traffic congestion:

This essay deals with the sources, effects and steps taken by The Government, Public Amities and The Greens organization to cover the traffic congestion and keep it stable. Increasing bicycle, train and trams. Maintaining the less roadway usage by people and shortening to build new roads. Investment in public transports like trains and trams are the only ways to control road transports, also the facilities and features which attracts people for using public transport and their safety purposes.
Australia is facing a vast problems due to traffic congestion, The sources for traffic congestion is there are more cars and vehicles increasing day to day, not only because of Australian citizens but also outsiders, travelers, overseas students and by many ways Melbourne is is facing traffic congestion. Although Melbourne is well planned and arranged city yet it faces traffic congestion because of population and all kind of works I T companies, businesses and industries are held in the city so there is a need for everyone to go city for their needs. Australian urban freeways are averaging around 1,600 to 1,700 vehicles per hour per single lane during the peak hours which goes about 2,100 vehicles per hour per lane are being used as overseas in urban freeways. According to a survey taken in last year by government says that 8,200 motorists in 20 cities and its still increasing day to day and over 70% of the job holders and self business people and 90% of workers are located more than 5 km from city which is the base for the congestion even though Governments have taken many steps to avoid traffics in city like introduced a congestion levy which is called as the pay parking within CBD as per this allocation the annual levy is currently $800 million which applies for both off-street and long stay parking of cars and other vehicles in CBD. The aims of levy is to reduce the peak time traffic congestion, which improves the CBD amenity and encourages the public transport and use from CBD. Apart from the city's toll roads, Victorian Roads is responsible for the management and development of the major or the main of Melbourne’s road network, known as the declared road network which is maintained by local councils

The main reason for the Congestion is by slower speeds, longer trip times, more volatile trip times and increased queueing and has a number of costs, including travel delays, driver stress and frustration, increased accident risks, wasted fuel, greater air pollution, reduced community amenity and higher costs to business. It is clear that Melbourne road networks are already experiencing some significant congestion and that gives a predict higher traffic volumes which will generate even high levels of congestion along major routes in the future. Victoria is facing a peak traffic motoring problems. Victorian State Government is applying road pricing project which includes other charges for road and also including fuel taxes, congestion levy in Melbourne there are tax on car parking spaces in the CBD that will give a net of $47 million this year for the state government but this is more called a revenue stream than a traffic management tool. Charlton argues for a wide tolling system on to Melbourne roads so this will help to manage the demand and promote public transport because of tolling, people may use alternatives like train and tram. New roads cost billions apart from city and their benefits and usage are very low, Which is why government is planning on public transport rather than roads which leads to congestion.

Greens are planning to invest in public transport like bicycling, trains and trams instead of cars and vehicles which is increasing day to day and the usage of roads are also high such as using the tollways and freeway roads which leads to traffic congestion where it is the start for building more roads and it goes on pollution. Greens are investing $55 million in Victoria to make bicycling roads safe and easy also healthier circle of living. Additional $240 million will be invested over three years from 1 July 2014 for the development of bike ways. This will reduce traffic and also makes the cities more neat and healthy and also will reduce air pollution, earth warming, and reduction of accidents and human safety.
The Greens organization want people to have fast and better public transport options. On top of the $3 billion people are already committed to the Melbourne Metro Rail, The estimated cost for metro train in the whole network of Doncaster rail is about $2.8 billion, Greens organization wants the amount of $15 million with help of federal contribution to East West Light Rails the Victoria St from North Melbourne station to North Richmond. Estimated total cost of $28.5million federal funds for the total outsource for the costs of connecting tram lines on high speed rail network connecting the major eastern cities. Greens organization transport system needs to be usable by everyone. A world-class public transport system will fix traffic congestion and make people more comfortable and style of living, also the economy will be more productive. These steps will provide good result for traffic congestion on upcoming days.

...Fixing Traffic Congestion By Fixing traffic congestion is no small task. With the number of people growing, in this country and globally, the demand to reduce traffic is growing with it. There have been many proposed ideas to diminish the shear amount of traffic, such as busses, subways, and other means of public transportation. Some believe we need to add more highways or extend lanes on current highways. I have read many ideas and plans to alleviate the flow and have found some that I believe would work. One relatively inexpensive fix is using current technology to help with traffic systems. IBM is working with a few cities across the globe to add data collection and data analysis systems. The data collection systems would use camera, sensors, and possibly phone tracking to send real time information to the analysis systems. These systems would then analyze the data and use it to predict traffic flow. The traffic lights and other roadway control signal would then be able to act according to the load of traffic heading that way. Traffic lights, for example, would stay green longer if no vehicles are at the adjoining intersections. Though this would minimalize traffic congestion due to the flow of traffic, it wouldn’t be a permanent fix due to the growing amount of vehicles on the roads.
