Competitiveness – It is the ability to gain an advantage over others and to stay ahead in one’s field. For an organization, it is the ability to gain market share in its area of operation.
Human Resources – It is a term used to define the workforce of an organization. It is every employee that works in a company to make the products or services available to its customers.
Stakeholders – They are part owners of a company. These are group of individuals who have financially invested in the company and share its profits or losses.
Training – It is a planned effort by a company to provide job related knowledge and skills to its employees so that the organization has a talented workforce and is able to compete with its peers in the market.
High-level training – It is the training that is more aligned with the overall business strategy and goals of an organization. It has a major contribution in the organization’s growth.
Continuous learning – It is a process in which learning of job related knowledge and skills is provided at regular intervals instead of only once.
Training design process – It is a process of systematically designing a training plan. In this process, all the steps that ascertain the training need are carefully drafted and assessed.
Instructional System – This is the process of designing and developing training programs. Training programs are unique to organizational needs; hence there is no one universal way of designing the programs.
Human capital – Each employee in an organization beings with him/ her certain skills, knowledge and experiences. The sum total of all these attributes of all the employees of an organization that is being used by the employees to perform their jobs is known as human capital.

There is significant debate among professionals and scholars as to the affect that training has on both employee and organizational goals. One school of thought argues that training leads to an increase in turnover while the other states that training is a tool to that can lead to higher levels of employee retention (Colarelli & Montei, 1996; Becker, 1993). The training industry as a whole has shown significant growth through the years.
