Apps

...According to Wikipedia, a Mobile application is a software application designed to run on smartphones, tablet computers and other mobile devices. They are usually available through application distribution platforms, which are typically operated by the owner of the mobile operating system, such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Windows Phone Store, and BlackBerry App World. Usually, they are downloaded from the platform to a target device, such as an iPhone, BlackBerry, Android phone or Windows Phone, but sometimes they can be downloaded to laptops or desktops. Mobile apps were originally offered for general productivity reasons, including email, calendar, contacts, stock market and weather information. However, public demand and the availability of developer tools drove rapid expansion into other categories, such as mobile games, factory automation, GPS and location-based services, banking, order-tracking, and ticket purchases. For this assignment I will focus on two apps, Swell Radio and MyFitnessPal. I am a person who is just getting my feet wet when it comes to the tech sector. I am a beginner, and so far I seem to enjoy apps that are rather simple and productivity based. MyFitnessPal Available on: Website myfitnesspal.com Founded 2005 Founder Albert Lee, Mike Lee Product Czar Warren Wan MyFitnessPal is very useful and is a must have when I want to keep track of my calories consumed and burned on a daily basis. The app’s aim is to make good health...

...Problem Statement BofA launched mobile banking in May2007, to allow customer to access the bank through mobile application and through mobile web on their phone browser. In less than three years BofA had around 4 million mobile banking customers at an adoption rates five to eight times that of the online banking. Because of this success, the line-of-business managers like mortgages and credit cards were asking for more upgrades to leverage the mobile platform. This request created a dilemma for the BofA management as adding more feature to the existing app will make the bank’s mobile app more complex. This complexity could slow down the performance of the app and negatively affect user experience. The management also noted that this kind complexity has led to some high-profile failures in the marketplace. Also, it was unclear if the users were ready to sign up and use these added features like mortgage service or credit card on their mobile phones. The other option the management was considering is, create multiple apps to target different target groups. But to follow this option the management has to reprioritize critical bank technical resources from other important business areas, such as online and ATM. These were the factors that the management needs to take into consideration while coming up with a solution. Strategic Situation Facing Management The U.S financial industry was fragmented, with thousands of banks offering retail and wholesale banking services. BofA...

...PROF. ARTHUR CACACE PROS OF CELL PHONES IN MODERN SOCIETY INTRODUCTION: The concept of the cellular phone has been around since 1947; however the technology to do so did not exist until 1973. According to (wikipedia.com) “In December 1947, Douglas H. Ring and W. Rae Young, Bell Labs engineers, proposed hexagonal cells for mobile phones in vehicles. Philip T. Porter, also of Bell Labs, proposed that the cell towers be at the corners of the hexagons rather than the centers and have directional antennas that would transmit/receive in three directions into three adjacent hexagon cells on three different frequencies. At this stage, the technology to implement these ideas did not exist, nor had the frequencies been allocated. Several years would pass before Richard H. Frenkiel and Joel S. Engel of Bell Labs developed the electronics to achieve this in the 1960s” .It was not until in 1973 On April 3, Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive, made the first analogue mobile phone call using a heavy prototype model. He called Dr. Joel S. Engel of Bell Labs “There was a long race between Motorola and Bell Labs to produce the first portable mobile phone. Cooper is the first inventor named on "Radio telephone system" filed on October 17, 1973 with the US Patent Office and later issued as US Patent 3,906,166. John F. Many brands spend many afford to develop royalty program, as it is the best way to maximize companies’ profit. Royalty customers not only do repeat purchase, they do also “sell” products to their friends and families. It is not hard to see why S4 is very popular now. By the way, of course there are many initial purchase customers. When we ask people what brands of mobile do you know, we can find all of them can say “Samsung”. We know from decision process model, before we buy a good, we must search for information, and we do search from our internal information first. Text Addiction

...Texting has been around for a while now but it has started becoming very popular and trendy over the last several years. In 2005 I purchased my first cell phone a Boost Mobile/ Walkie Talkie Phone. I was able to send text messages but never did. Being a prepaid phone it was expensive and I preferred for every bit of my time to go towards and actual conversation. However once phone companies started offering plans of unlimited texting, texting became very popular. I can appreciate the fact of how convenient texting is. It’s a great way for people to communicate quickly and quietly. Texting is a accommodating device to use when transferring information, directions, and other helpful things. On the other hand there are cases of the negative effects texting can cause people. I watched a television program on MTV about two young ladies who considered their selves textaholics. (http://www.mtv.com/videos/true-life-im-a-textaholic/1672744/playlist.jhtml, True Life: I am a Textaholic, October 2011) One young lady was a senior with the dream of playing volleyball in college. She texted so much that she begun having difficulties in her wrist. She also was going to have to have surgery. What surprised me was that her mother was asking her if she could text less. If a child cannot resist the urge to lay their phone down for their own safety and health reasons then a parent needs to step in. At the end the girl reduced her text messaging by thousands but ended up not playing volleyball...

Breeze Through Popular Culture

...A Breeze through Popular Culture Often parents and adults say that we teenagers text too often, play video games for vast hours, and that we watch unworthy fake news programs. In addition they say that all this diminishes our intelligence, however this is not one hundred percent true. Furthermore, I will acknowledge that text speak, video games, and fake news are instead changing the way people think in a positive manner. Although this is not a traditional way of gaining knowledge, it is still a growth that people who think in a conservative way have to accept. Text speak, video games and fakes news, have created a different way of learning, enhanced our communication skills, and they have increased our imagination. An examination of 2B or Not 2B by author David Crystal, Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter by author Tom Bissell, and The Good, the Bad, and The Daily Show by author Jason Zinser will reveal to us how text speak, video games, and fakes news also result in positive outcomes. Text speak, video gaming, and fake news have revolutionized the way we learn. David Crystal, well known for his work in English language studies and linguistics, says in his essay 2B or Not 2B that text speak is not something alien to us, the way we use text speak is what is different. It is important that we teenagers establish to parents, adults, and teachers that we are not destroying the English language neither adapting poor writing habits by abbreviating words. I have made the conclusion...

Imode-Docomo

...CASE STUDY ANALYSIS ON NTT DoCoMo: Marketing i-mode ANALYSIS There is one simple word to describe this case, and the word is “RADICAL” . From radical ideas leading to radical technologies, from radical ways to market the technology. We can safely say that the i-mode idea was an immense success, from 2 M subscribers 30 M subscriber’s in just 2 years from launch is a feat that is comparable to none. NTT launched this revolutionary service to reduce the existing load on their wireless spectrum but even they did not have an idea on the phenomenon, they had given birth to. It is clear from the success that the trio understood clearly the customer’s need at that time and also the value that the customer was expecting. Right from the start, the trio defied the regular rules of the industry to achieve one single goal – to gain new subscribers whilst delivering value to the customer. The concept of the service, the pricing, the content available, the billing structure, the hardware used to access the service were all conceptualized and developed keeping in mind the convenience to the user and were responsible for the success of the product. The whole concept caused a paradigm shift in the way the Japanese telecom industry operated, from adopting easy transmittable data standards, to the ease of use of the phone developed to provide the i-mode service, this shift actually brought to the customer the value they wanted. The value offered to the consumer was immense...
