Hook:
Mark Twain said that “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
Definition of keywords:
There are two keywords which are “Enriching” and “Travelling”. “Enriching” means to supply with riches, wealth or valuable processions. The other keyword “travelling” means moving from one place to another, for the purpose of exploring especially in other countries.
Foregrounding:
Although travelling is not one’s thing, however majority of people do enjoy travelling than reading. As a matter of fact, Rome, Italy is voted to be one of the best travel destinations. One reason why would be the colosseum which attracts million of travelers to get a taste of the historic building that has survived for centuries and the sheer size of it that wouldn’t be possible to believe in with reading. At present, technology is getting more cutting-edge, therefore making travelling becoming much easier.
Thesis statement:
I agree that travelling is more enriching than reading because travelling is a very introspective process. Travelling also is a good chance for you to have new perspectives of the world.
Body Paragraph:
Primarily, travelling is a chance for us to learn more about ourselves through introspective process, with simple questions like what’s your future goal or what do you really want to achieve in life etc. One might just find his very own passion and decide to pursue it after a breather like a backpack trip. Therefore, travelling allows you to do self reflection and find the right directions in your life.
Secondly, travelling is also a good chance to broaden your perspectives of the world. During travelling, we are likely to come across different languages, religious practices and social cultures. It would then allow you to be more knowledgeable and aware of the differences people have throughout the globe. For example, a civilian in North Korea could possibly never come across any technology device but a normal civilian from England would find technology devices run-of-the-mill. Therefore, understand how one’s environment and histories have shaped the person his is today and that everybody is unique in their own way.
Counter –argument & rebuttal
There is always two sides to every coin. Undeniably, reading has its own benefits too. One of which is to enhance the reader’s imagination. Reading enables you to be able to experience without boundaries of reality what the book is expressing, with books like Harry Potter where we can imagine the magic that is expressed which is not possible in reality. Therefore, we’re able to imagine better in books but moreover, if we do not travel, we will be just be making assumptions but if you travel, you will be able to use the experience of what you felt or found out making you able to check if your imagination is trustable or real. Hence, travelling is more enriching than reading.
