...Bangkok Dangerous Zone Bangkok is a capital city of Thailand and very famous city for tourists all around the world. More than ten million tourists from many places around the world spend a lot of their time and money in Bangkok each year. However, there are many negative articles from tourists who used to visit Bangkok. They were complained about the security in their life, pollution in Bangkok, and protest. As a Thai citizen, I agree with them because I am the one who faced with those problems before. There are three main parts that I think it is correct to say that Bangkok is a dangerous zone, which are security in their life, pollution, and protest. When we want to travel somewhere, we always look at the previous information from Internet or another source as a guide. We need to be sure about many things before we are going to be there. In addition, a security in traveling or stay there is one of the most important to be decided whether to go or not. As many tourists were mentioned about this, so I would like to amplify in more details about this kind of thing also. In Bangkok, we will face with a low quality of transportation services. Once the tourists reach to airport, they do not have enough information to go to their destination in a blink of an eye. They will face with a fake taxi that will charge them with an unreasonable price or rob and rape them if possible.—this situation is real. Moreover, in Bangkok has many type of transportation that will give them a cause...

...Fritidsresor Under Pressure Savannah M. Russell Clemson University Abstract On December 26, 2004, Southeast Asia suffered from a tsunami that took a major toll on the management team of a Swedish tour company. This unforeseen devastation affected the lives and safety of thousands of the company’s customers as well as employees in Thailand. With all the hesitation and vagueness the management team dealt with, within those first 10 hours it became very clear that the team would have to make extremely demanding decisions. These conclusions would coordinate the responses to the media as well as concerned customers. As administration faces struggles of their own within the company they must now come to together as one to face situations that reality has hit them hard with. Keywords: Disaster, Evacuation, Thailand, Tsunami Defining the Issue(s) When a nature disaster hit Southeast Asia in 2004 it did not just impact the land; it also traumatized thousands of people in and out of the Fritidsresor Company. Not only were the company’s tourists at risk but their employees were as well. While the company is battling this difficult situation externally, they are also battling internal issues as well. The CEO has only been with the company for a little over a year and is having a...

...widespread of insuring cargo while being ship throughout the maritime nations of Europe. It started at Lloyd’s Coffee House where merchants, ship-owners, and underwriters met to transact their business. And then Lloyd’s become one of the first modern insurance companies, Lloyd’s of London. Insurance in Thailand start around Ayudhya period when there is trade between Thai and foreigners. Foreign merchants brought marine insurance into Thailand which is first non-life insurance in Thailand. During King Rama the fourth era, there are many France department stores which some of them are representative of insurance company such as Netherlands Indea Sea and Fire Insurance Company, Ocean Marine Insurance Company, and Colonial Sea and Fire Insurance Company. And then in 1908, there is the first Act of Parliament about insurance in Thailand. For the life insurance, in Thailand, it was started in the era of King Rama the fifth by some foreign insurance companies. At first, nobody was interested in it so the business turned out to be an unsuccessful. After that, in WWI period, life insurance had growth rapidly in both Europe and America. Those companies want to expand their branches to Thailand. However, at that time, Thai government was not ready for the insurance’s registration. The government needed more time to study about it. Later, in 1982, the Act of Parliament was issued under the King Rama the seventh’s order. It was about the act of controlling business relating...

In your comments, focus on 1) the argument structure, 2) the claims and their support, especially the integration of quotations, and 3) the overall organization of the paper. Does travel influence what's good to eat and bad to eat? Every culture has food taboos. Some, of course, have more than others. Asian countries such as China, Japan, and Thailand, for example, tend to have a more diverse cultural diet than do European countries. I conducted a survey to see how a country's food taboos correlate with the personal eating habits of those who have traveled there. I found that people who have traveled to Asian countries tend to have less food taboos than do those who have traveled to Europe. In fact, people who have traveled to Asia often could not cite one food that they refuse to eat. Everyone who has been to Europe on the other hand, could name at least one food that they personally consider to be inedible. I believe that the reason for this disparity can be found in the economic differences between the East and the West, and also, in the personal reasons people have for traveling to either Europe or Asia. Southeast Asians lack specific food types they refuse to eat. Besides the more conventional meats, i.e., beef, pork, poultry, they also eat dogs, cats, dingoes, and insects. An explanation for this can be traced to historical, ecological, and economical aspects of Southeast Asia. Marvin Harris, anthropologist and author of Good to Eat explores this...

...procedures in Thailand have been enticing Canadian visitors not just because of the tropical paradise but also because of the low cost involved in surgery. Procedure fees are slashed in half and in many cases as much as 1/10th compared to most North American facilities. (Experience Thailand and Beautiful Kingdom) Heart bypass surgery performed in the United States would cost upwards of $144,000 US, but the same surgery would cost around $26,000 US in Thailand. Hip replacements surgery is fast becoming a common surgery in Canada. With Canadian baby boomers reaching the age of retirement, elderly patients have longer wait times for hip replacement surgery due to the high demand of this type of surgery. Although Canadians are covered under the federal health care system, many patients have chosen to seek out private hospitals to expedite their wait times. Private clinics can charge up to $24,000 USD to have the procedure performed in Canada or the USA but, many patients are traveling to Thailand to take advantage of a real savings. Hip replacement surgery is performed for a modest $10,000 USD. (Runckel, Business In Asia) More and more Canadians are having their cosmetic procedures performed in Thailand due to the low costs involved. For example: a facelift performed in Canada will cost anywhere between $12,000 - $35,000 CDN, whereas, the same procedure in Thailand would cost around $6900 US. ...Thai Women Thailand is a small country located near Vietnam and adjacent to Cambodia Malaysia and Laos, its population is sixty seven million. The region of Bangkok is a hotspot for tourism known for its amazing beaches, wild parties and incredibly luxurious hotels. But what these tourist never see is the heavily industrialized export minded back bone of Bangkok and the workers who fuel it. From throughout Thailand rural workers migrate to Bangkok, known as the “City of Angels” to work in its factories, on products to almost exclusively be exported out of the country. The products that these people, largely women work to make are too expensive for they themselves to buy, instead these products go zooming back across the globe to the country that offshored its work, to factory where it only had to pay the workers a fraction of what the global corporations would be forced to pay if the work was to be done in the same country to which its products were intended to be bought and sold. But these factories aren’t sweat shops, they don’t utilize forced labor or child workers, the hours these women work aren’t wholly unreasonable. “The reason that global corporations choose to manufacture in Thailand is no secret. A Third World standard of living leads to ultra-cheap labor costs. The best paid workers in this Bangkok factory make all of $25 per week. I can picture the rotund British businessman in Hong Kong explaining to us the reason the labor force in places like Thailand and China...

...Before arriving in Asia, Susanne and I put together a basic itinerary for travel in and around Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Our plans had us spending time in both Thailand and Laos, plus a brief four or five day visit to either Cambodia or Vietnam. Our first choice was Cambodia, for we both wanted to visit the ruins of Angkor and Phnom Penh. Because of safety concerns, though, we agreed to plan an alternate trip to northern Vietnam, visiting Hanoi and Halong Bay. We wouldn't make the final decision as to which side trip we would take until right before our arrival in Bangkok, which meant we wouldn't buy our airline tickets within Southeast Asia until we got there. It's usually pretty easy to get on one of the many flights scheduled across Southeast Asia, but just in case, I made contact with a Bangkok travel agency, MK Ways, in order to get the latest flight schedules. MK Ways reserved us on multiple flight options, which allowed us to make our final decision in Bangkok. Some people might prefer to have an exact itinerary far in advance, but our method worked out very well for us. I think it's also wise to keep your options open when traveling in Asia - flights are often canceled or changed, which could throw off your entire schedule. Plan enough time between stops to allow for such problems, and when these problems do occur, remember: go with the flow. It's no big deal, and there's no use getting worked up over being stranded for six hours in some strange place. It's...

...Medical Tourism Medical Tourism Introduction Medical tourism is the act of traveling to other countries to obtain medical, dental or cosmetic care. Medical tourism is a new term but thousands of years old act. People have been traveling across the continents in search of cures for any imaginable illnesses and making therapeutic trips for health wellness. In ancient Greece, pilgrims and patients came from all over the Mediterranean to the sanctuary of the healing god, Asklepios at Epidaurus, and from the 18th century wealthy Europeans have been traveling to spas from Germany to the Nile. In recent years, medical tourism is becoming more popular with patients seeking treatment for health and well-being purposes abroad. Medical Tourism Concerns Though many are eager to be the right pieces in the puzzle, many are still struggling to get the right fit. In the budget airline segment, the delegalisation internationally is to their advantage for them, as they have now a wider geographical market opportunities. ...Sex Tourism in Thailand “Sex tourism is both an economic and political phenomenon. It cannot exist without sources of demand, where these types of transactions are considered to be socially and politically legitimate” (Leheny, D. 1995, p.367-384). Sex tourism is evident through many different forms, but the most popular ways it is evident is through pornography, prostitution, and human trafficing. This trend is one of the main sources of revenue in Thailand. It holds 6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) which is just over $31 billion. Sex tourism started when the “American military on rest and recreation leave during the Vietnam War from 1962” (End Child Prostitution, Pornography and Trafficking UK). The US States Department’s Trafficking in Persons Report (2005) stated that the “widespread sex tourism in Thailand encourages trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation.” This describes sex tourism as being a business related area, trying to convince people that it is an ethical way of making profits and revenues to boost Thailand’s economy. Sex tourism is not an ethical method for bringing revenue into the country because of the severe exploitation of children, and women, and it promotes the intentions of molestation. Thailand is known as the second biggest country for child sex tourism. Child prostitution “deprives children of their childhood, human rights, and dignity” (Lau, C. 2008, p. 144-155). Studies have shown that there is a range of 60,000 to 200,000...

...Interregional connections are important because they strengthen the economy and lifestyle for the people that live, work, and do business in the regions of contact. Interregional transportation is also an example of interregional contact. An example would be traveling by plane from China to India. Interregional connections are conneactions between or among other regions. Intraregional Intraregional means to stay within a region. Unlike interregional, which are connections between two or more regions, intraregional connections are only within one region. Intraregional traveling, traveling within one country, is an example of intraregional contact. Trade that is intraregional is less beneficial to business, because it lacks variety and it is easier to make money selling goods to other regions. The most intraregional trade occurs in China, due to its size. Intraregional connections are less common around the world, compared to...
