Dear Stacey Abrams,
My name is Trenetria Steele and I am writing you today to discuss the importance of abortion in the state of Georgia. Although abortion receives legal support federally in the United States, terms of abortion vary state to state. Some states have been limiting the use of abortions by closing down abortion clinics, but my motive is to make sure that the state of Georgia continues to support abortion as an option for unwanted pregnancy. The topic of abortion is very controversial due to the fact that many women believe it questions ethics by killing a human being. Personally, I feel as if the government should not interfere with women’s rights to decide whether or not they want to continue their pregnancy by taking away their option of abortion. Having a baby and becoming a parent adds a heap of responsibility to a person’s life. Statistics show a large percentage of pregnant women face the burden of financial problems and lack of family support. How can someone expect a woman to bring a new life into this world if she can’t even afford to take care of herself?
There are other choices available for a woman facing an unwanted, such as adoption but I honestly feel that is not a helpful alternative. A pregnant woman needs constant medical attention throughout each trimester, which is not cheap. Mothers face attatchment issues, making women emotionally unstable to complete the adoption process. Not only does the adoption process affect the mother, but potentially the child as well. There are emotional issues the child may face in the future such as low self-esteem and a lack of assurance in themselves because they did not grow up with their birth parents.
A bill that influences abortion is the Heartbeat Informed Consent Act, which provides women
