Javier’s rustic but treasured ranch offers a gateway to peace and tranquility. The drive up to the ranch is a short but eventful one as you move along, slowly it seems like the clock is ticking backwards. Its lack of luxurious commodities, are a black and white contrast to what we are used to, but as you interact with the people and animals there you get an incredible feeling of peace. Once you step out of your reclining car seat, you are greeted with the smell of animal manure and nature from the broad open space of land. You immediately overhear a mixture of “moos” from the dozen cows and the “baa’s” from the multiple goats asking for food due to their never-ending hunger. The guarding female and male black dogs covered with white spots welcome you with excitement and eagerness. Entering the gates, you encounter pieces of wood and metal lying around the dirt. Taking the view as a whole from the entrance, you see animals in gated areas, a small shelter made of wood to milk the cows and goats, and many small bushes and trees around the hill. Walking to the shelter, you are easily annoyed by the million fly’s flying around. However, the sound of laughter and cheery old men conversing about different life experiences shows how people go to forget about their worries and leave their problems behind. The women are usually gossiping while carefully watching over their children; the younger generation that will one day take the place of their parents and
