Break down into 2 types of ‘treatment’ lifestyle changes; medical treatment.
Lifestyle changes
If diet poor – cut down on saturated fats (mostly animal); cut down on excess sugars (because they would be stored as fat); more fruit and veg and whole grains for fibre (lowres BP and blood cholesterols); try to take in ‘good fats’ – monosaturates eg olive oil etc and fats with omega 6 – oily fish etc such as salmon, tuna, walnuts etc.
If overweight – lose excess weight – how? eat less calories – less fats / sugars (see / link to above) (lowered blood fats / cholesterols)
If overweight – could lose weight by increasing amount of exercise ( or do exercise .
If no exercise – do some! – burns off excess calories; reduces body fats/ blood fats / sugars; lowers blood pressure – keeps blood vessels elastic (maintains elastcitiy)
Link diet – exercise – because - if you reduce bad fats in diet and increase good fats and you’re exercising – this helps with an increase in High Density lipoproteins (HDL’s)….which are a type of cholesterol which is good for you – prevents CHD…….seems to mop up Low Density lipoproteins (LDL’s) – which is the ‘bad’ cholesterol.
If smoking – stop! (any smoking is bad for you)
If drinking alcohol – cut down do government recommended levels (some studies have shown the occasional glass of red wine can ‘thin / clean’ the blood - and help prevent CHD)
Try to reduce stress – eg work les hrs, take break from family chores etc – more sleep

Medical
Surgery – bypass surgery – remove good blood vessels (usually from leg) and ‘bypass’ the blockage in coronary arteries
Surgery – angioplasty – stent –widen blocked passage with ‘balloon’ – keep ipen with stent (scaffold) – blood passes throught more freely.
Anti-thrombotic drugs – prevents blood clots which can worsen any blockage – blood ‘thinning’ – warfarin drugs – rat poison
Blood pressure
